Harley in the Hangar: Chop Shop?

Okay, good, I thought I'd missed something! I think the black pick up comes from the description of the truck that stole the bike and trailer. Which lead some here to wonder, if DM supposedly stole the bike, where he got the black truck from, when his is clearly red.

There is a pic in AM's FB photos that shows a black pickup truck in the hangar (behind the bright yellow jeep). The pic was uploaded June 27 2011. I'm not sure what make/model the pickup is.

If you're talking about one of the photos in the Baja photo set, it isn't the hangar - it appears to be a custom shop they visited during their travels to have a roll cage installed in the Jeep before the race.

Yep, and that piece of info makes me particularly happy since it means LE knows it was re-registered after it was stolen ("within hours") and who registered it.

There was another trailer that was taken away from the hanger as well, I wonder if it was stolen too.

First, go here and look at the first listing for the jack set. Click on the image for full size, and you'll see a trailer in front of the white car.

Now here is a screen shot from the CTV news story about finding stolen vehicles in the hanger. This is probably MM's trailer and the one from above.

Are you saying that orange Harley was sitting atop that open air trailer when it was supposedly stolen?

So this Harley was on show in all its glory at Marty McFlys residence within easy view of anyone passing......and it wasn't insured !!!!

It sounds unbelievable to me.... surely at least this alleged expensive motorcycle was concealed inside a box trailer.... ? If not its like leaving your doors and windows open at night IMO and expecting burglars.... JMO

If that's how you understand my post, then it explains a lot of your other theories.

That almost looks like the trailer that the incinerator was sitting on when the neighbours took the picture. I guess it can't be if it was in the hanger without the incinerator for the ad in March.

Does anyone remember if there were any pictures of LE taking away the incinerator, or is the only picture the one from the neighbours?

The the neighbour incinerator picture, the trailer has white rims, and rounded fenders. The trailer being taken away from the hangar has dark rims and the fenders are more angled. Not to mention the large fold up loading ramps.

Thanks, I see the white rims now. Those loading ramps have to stay up like that? That's awkward. I thought they may fold flat and would be under where the propane tank is. You can tell I don't know much about trailers. ;)

C'mon people. I get it. Doesn't everyone get it by now? There's a pattern of thrill seeking here. I didn't get it for a long time but I do now. Let's look at the Harley theft facts. An aspiring video movie maker - listen Hollywood is only 6, maybe 8 hours away, depending - tries to sell his Harley online but then, after awhile without any offers, he reportedly has second thoughts, and remembers how much he really really loves that Harley. You know. Open roads. Wind in your hair. Gorgeous chicks. The easy riding good life. Whatevah. Varoom. Harley stuff. Edgy. Kewl. OK, but let's be real. Yeah, maybe the good life wanes a bit when sifted through that reality filter, you know the part where somebody desperately needs money to make ends meet. Especially people who want to make it big in the movies? So, can you imagine the irony? You damn the torpedos and take your Harley sale offer offline. And suddenly, SOBs like DM and MS brazenly sneak into the little alleyway behind your little apartment/ studio in some god awful forgotten corner of downtown Toronto in the full light of day and bloody well steal your Harley! And the trailer that houses it!! The whole nine yard!! And they drive off with the whole works awhile you, the rightful owner is in your apt/ er studio thinking up wonderful ideas for your next video/ top-grossing movie. Unfortunately it turns out the insurance guys have some concerns about your claim. It simply isn't fair. Did you ever hear of such a thing? Apparently some people actually insure something, then report it as being stolen in order to collect the insurance claim. Not of course, for a second, to suppose something like this would ever happen in Canada, certainly not in Toronto, and certainly not with Harley owning almost A-List people in the movie industry. Come onnnn! Anyway, later, while holidaying in Europe with some extra cash that happened to come your way,, between pitching headlining motion picture production in a Dublin pub, no doubt Video Man learns that his Harley has been re covered. Phew!! (Oh no!!!) He's like, really, really happy, sort of, about this. Thank god for justice. And motorbikes. And insurance. IMO. IMHO. BTW. All of Which reminds me, I have a really cheap car for sale if anybody's is interested. One smally barely mentionable thingy. I will kind of need you to file off the VIN if that's ok. It's not important. Let's just call it a quirk of mine. LOL. (IMO. IMHO.

You seem to disregard the fact that LE found the stolen Harley in the hangar and identified the owner because he had taken the extra precaution of putting an additional identifying feature (iirc, under the seat). If you are suggesting that the owner was in cahoots with DM et al, to the extent of filing off a VIN all with a view to collecting insurance money, don't you think he would have said "and oh yeah, make sure you get rid of that extra precautionary measure I put under the seat"?

IMO, what your post suggests is absurd.

Again, I hate to be a fly in the ointment, but has MillardAir ever actually been charged with running a chop shop? If not, why not? Does anybody know?

I believe we have touched on this in the past. No mention of that charge, but that doesn't mean it won't be added eventually along with a host of other charges possibly. MOO.

Wouldn't that be totally OTT? I mean DM is facing 75 years...what is a piddling few more years in charges?

Well....somewhat. Look at all the charges laid against RW. The Crown may as well put them all out there. Additional charges just may make an impression on the jurors kwim. MOO.

Especially as they would most likely be drug trafficking and auto theft charges. Drugs, chop shop, 3 murder charges, an incinerator...really gives you a certain kind of impression of the boy.

Most of what I've heard, it seems more like he was the buyer, not the seller. But regardless, if they wanted to use that information to impress the jurors, I would think they should be laying some charges. The judge isn't likely to support the history of drug trafficking and a chop shop as evidence if there's nothing to back it up. Not to mention it would probably help if they decided they wanted to confiscate the hangar.

If they had more charges to add to those he already has, for say, having a chop shop or drugs, wouldn't they have to lay them as soon as possible, so that that the defendant has time to gather what he may need to refute the charges? They can't just spring them on him at the last second, can they? That would seem unethical to me.

Right. I doubt very much any charges will be added. In fact they are more likely to lose one than add one IMO. But some may like to live in hope. Besides, more charges would mean more disclosure and the defense needs time to review disclosure, with a trial set for Sept, I very much doubt it will be considered fair or would be allowed (by judge coordinating trial) to add more charges. Just my opinion. JMO

I think if there were more charges, there would be separate trials. They wouldn't try him for three different crimes all in the same trial, especially one for trafficking, one for a chop shop, and one for murder. Hard to say which one would come up for trial first.

It will also be interesting to see if MWJ's trial happens before the trial for WM's death. And how the result of one might affect the other one.
