Since listening to the trial, there are only a few things that bother me, although I still feel, 100% that Casey is responsible for the death of Caylee. I can go along with an accident because of her neglagence & then she tried to cover it up with all her lies to make it look like she was in no way responsible for her daughters death. Accidental drowning in the pool was my initial guess when this case first started.
Once I heard the defense theory that George was involved, the first thing that entered my head was the jailhouse tape where Casey tells George & Cindy "don't worry, I didn't say anything". This could mean that she didn't say anything that would implicate her, or the family had a secret. Although I don't believe for one minute that she would sit in jail & not spill the beans on George, I do believe that she would sit in jail for Lee and throw George under the bus to cover both their behinds.
The one thing that bothered me the most was Spitz's testimony regarding the duct tape. I think that Spitz is way past his prime & at this point will say anything for money, so its hard for me to think this way, but, the only opinions I have are Dr G's and Spitz, both experts in their fields, with 2 very different opinions. Spitz's theory that the duct tape would have fallen off the face once decomp began makes sense to me. During decomp, if the skin melts (for lack of a better word) how would the tape stick to the skull if it was originally stuck to the skin?
Perhaps if the charges against her had been less, the jury would have found her guilty of neglagence in the death of Caylee and she would have served some time rather than getting off scott free. It also doesn't seem right that she has cost the state of Florida mega bucks & can just walk out of jail & not have to pay any of that money back! If her story regarding the accidental drowning is true, then thousands of dollars were spent looking for Caylee when she knew all along that she was dead, seems she should have to pay for that.
This jury just enabled Casey exactly as her family has her entire life, the verdict, once again, in her mind, said it's ok to lie to get your butt out of a jam.......and once again, it worked for her.
