I learned today that my ophthalmologist's office has reopened with stringent safety protocols in force. Patients must wear masks, temperatures will be taken when entering the facility, no guests can accompany patients. My April 4 appointment was canceled due to the pandemic, and I will call tomorrow to reschedule. Likewise, my April 15 mammogram was canceled, rescheduled for May 15, and canceled again. The outpatient imaging center has strict safety rules in place, so I will call tomorrow to schedule my annual mammogram. Various outpatient facilities that are part of the extensive Beaumont health system appear to be reopening, so I will check to see when I can resume physical therapy. I'm beginning to feel a dark cloud lifting and that there is a rainbow on the horizon :)

Made three calls today while DH was on his lunch break and not on the phone with customers. Mammogram now scheduled for July, eye doctor June, and I will resume PT (bursitis, right hip) next week. Female therapist who did my intake evaluation has open slots on Tuesdays/Thursdays at 11:00. This will be a fabulous schedule! Patients must wear masks, cannot arrive more than 5 minutes early, no locker use - don't bring anything unnecessary into facility. Questionnaire and temp taken. Plenty of hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes in the gym before Covid outbreak.

Except for a few trips for groceries, I haven't been out of the house for more than a few hours in two months. I will continue to wear a mask in public, practice social distancing, etc., but I look forward to resuming some degree of normalcy in the coming weeks. We are finally getting long-awaited nice weather in southeastern lower Michigan, and I'm sure I join many in being glad that we can move about more freely. DH and I will head to the nursery for our flowers on Friday, and we have a mulch delivery on Monday. We always work in the yard over the holiday weekend - the official start of summer in these parts :)

Anyone else just exhausted? I am so tired lately. Needing extra naps.

1. Taking plenty of vitamins, D, B12, iron, everything.
2. Sleeping well, going to bed early.
3. Eating extra healthy, lean protein, vegetables, fruit, rice.
4. Exercising 1 hour a day
5. Getting plenty of sunshine and fresh air

Any other ideas? Open to anything.

Those are all wonderful suggestions, and I'm making a sincere effort to do everything you've suggested. My only addition would be taking time daily to meditate, pray, read (not on the internet), and, most importantly, focus on positive aspects of life and not the pandemic. A little "me" time is good for all or us, so take time each day to do something that makes you happy. I've always enjoyed word puzzles and do several every day. I also like classic films and try to watch at least one "old" movie (TCM) daily.

That said, I think part of feeling tired is the lack of normal, everyday activity. In that regard, it's probably more emotional exhaustion than physical tiredness. Because DH is working from home (Monday through Thursday), I have to pretty much stay in the den with the door closed and not move around the house too much to avoid distracting him. Our main TV, books/magazines, CDs/DVDs, and my desktop computer are in the den, so I'm not deprived of "entertainment" options, but it's frustrating to not feel comfortable and free in my own home. Hopefully, the stay-at-home order in Michigan ends on May 28, so we should be able to move about more freely by the end of the month.
I thought of you when I came across this. skip the ads option. I’m so sorry to hear of the Michigan dams‘ failures.

Whitmer extends stay-at-home order through June 12

The extended stay-at-home order didn't make sense because medical/dental facilities and some smaller retail outlets are allowed to open this week (by appointment to maintain social distancing). Michiganders now have additional options for leaving home and will probably take advantage of the limited freedom to be out and about. I will resume physical therapy on Tuesdays/Thursdays this week. I had really just gotten started with treatment for bursitis in my right hip when everything was shut down in mid-March. I also rescheduled appointment with my ophthalmologist and my annual mammogram, both of which were canceled due to coronavirus. Besides these medical appointments, I don't need to venture out other than a weekly trip for food and will mostly stay at home.

DH and I went to the nursery for our annuals on Friday and planted flowers yesterday. We would both love to have haircuts, manicures, and pedicures, and it would be nice to enjoy dinner out for our anniversary next month, but these venues are probably still a couple of weeks away from reopening in metro-Detroit.

I hope your medical test goes well and that you have a safe and uneventful trip back to Michigan. During Governor Whitmer's presser one day last week (when she extended the stay-at-home order again), she said that she will evaluate the success of next week's limited openings before moving on to the next phase. Since the virus tends to manifest itself in 2-week waves, she will wait two weeks before allowing additional businesses to open. The next phase will be salons, gyms, bars, restaurants, and finally, major retail stores like Macy's, Nordstrom, etc.

Our hair stylist promised to let all her clients know when the salon will reopen. She and her three partners occupy a studio in a large facility with other small salons, all of which will have to work out scheduling to allow for adequate social distancing. We have our fingers crossed that we can have hair appointments by our June 25th anniversary.

Our nail salon should have no problem with social distancing as the pedicure chairs are already well-spaced. If they alternate clients at manicure stations, that should be alright, too. Most of the techs wore gloves and/or masks even before the pandemic, so that definitely won't be an issue.

I am terrified of the 2 day trip back to Michigan thru six states!
We will have our masks and gloves and we will pray for some luck not to get infected. The trip is fraught with potential areas of exposure including but not limited to gas station restrooms, nozzles- also finding a hotel room, and just being around people at all of these places: We also have to eat and i don't want to sit in a restaurant: i have put the trip home off now for over a month. If it wasn't for the hurricane season here in Florida i would stay here for the summer. We are in Southwest Florida - the majority of cases are in Southeast Florida (Miami, etc). It is rather quiet and nice here now since all the snowbirds have gone north long ago!

Feeling much better, a weekend of sunshine, being outside, biking, gardening and barbecuing. Fresh air. A much needed break.

We are heading to Corpus Christi (from North Texas) for a week on Thursday. We will be distancing our whole visit. Can anyone recommend best practices for gas station/bathroom stops? I am thinking gloves worn only in the bathroom and then immediately disposed of...what else? And where to get gloves? :/

I didn't worry about it. I washed my hands well everywhere I went, and keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in my bag.

Only stop at Buc-ees. ;)
Use plastic baggies instead of gloves?

I keep a baby wipe in my hand as I’m strolling thru the store. It reminds me not to touch anything. At the beach, I took my thing of baby wipes with me into the bathroom. I wiped everything off, then I used the facilities. Then I washed with soap and used another baby wipe to open the door when I left. I did not use the air dryer machine. I figured it would blow germs around. I was able to get a 3 pack of unscented baby wipes in the baby dept of Walmart. They are in plastic wrappers with a pop up snap close opening. They fit nicely in my console versus a tall plastic container of bleach wipes. Some places still are out of cart wipes. I take a baby wipe with a little hand sanitizer on it when I go in, just in case.
