Maui News August 8, 2014 BAIL Revoked for Man Charged in Scott Slaying

On June 15, Capobianco sent a Snapchat message to the cellphone of Scott's teenage sister, "who is a prospective witness against defendant," Rivera said in his motion to have Capobianco jailed without bail.
The message "was threatening in nature," Rivera said.
The message said "Somebody is about to get shot" in white lettering against a black background, according to Rivera's motion. A bright red dot resembling a firearms laser sight was positioned just above the white lettering, according to the motion.
When the message was received, "Charli Scott's minor sister and members of her family were instantly placed in fear for their safety and immediately reported what they perceived to be a serious threat," according to Rivera's motion.

To answer my own question as to if the cane fields are turned over after burning:

"After burning, harvesting machines push the cane stalks into large windrows, leaving the root system in the ground, to re-grow for one additional crop cycle. The cane stalks are then loaded into huge trucks called tournahaulers, which can carry up to 55 tons per load. Many truckloads are required to haul the harvested cane from each field to the factory. To preserve sugar content, it is important to get the harvested cane to the mill for processing as soon as possible." HC&S website

Well, that's chilling. Glad no bail. What does sister know? I must have missed that. Is it maybe because she found remnants of poor Carly? TIA

I wonder if searches are still being done for Charli and Joshua?

  • #766
Find Charli posted about a search a week or so ago. I believe the family has to pay out of pocket for the searches, so I don't know how often they 're conducted.

I'm not technology savvy... How is that URL (is that what it's called) have that name attached to it? It appeared to me that the creator of the page named the page and the creator's name is associated with it in the URL. ?? You're saying I could create a page and associate that name with it? That name is only in the URL.

Yup you can write whatever and it can be different

Let's talk motive. Do you think it was because she got pregnant by him and he didn't want to have to be tied to her with a child for the rest of his life? Or was it that his new girlfriend did not want to be stepmom to someone else's child? Or that she "had a mouth on her?"

When you add them together, it is all one compelling motive. A man often does not want to support a baby that is not "his" and resents helping a woman he is no longer getting any benefits (i.e.- sex, housework, emotional support) from getting any support. You can't exactly have a clean break when looking at 18 years of child support.
Isn't being murdered by the dad to be like the #2 cause of death of pregnant women?

New attorney request to delay murder trial

Conflict of interest linked to case’s witnesses and potential witnesses

WAILUKU - A trial is being delayed for a man charged with murder in the disappearance of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, while a new attorney is appointed to represent him in the case.

I was expecting that. Not the conflict of interest, but the delay of the trial.

So as I understand it....so many of the witnesses against Steven Capobianco are already in legal trouble & are/were being defended by this public defender that that is where the conflict of interest lies.
Note that the article is wrong about Charli's dog: it was found in Nahiku, not in Haiku.
Here is the full article:

WAILUKU - A trial is being delayed for a man charged with murder in the disappearance of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, while a new attorney is appointed to represent him in the case.

The trial for Steven Capobianco, 24, of Lahaina had been set to begin Monday.

But in court Tuesday, 2nd Circuit Judge Joseph Cardoza granted the Office of the Public Defender's request to withdraw from representing Capobianco.

The request was based on a conflict of interest, with "a rather large number" of witnesses and potential witnesses against Capobianco having been previously or being currently represented by the public defender's office, the judge said.

"Are you in agreement with the request?" Cardoza asked Capobianco.

Moderator Fran,
Respectfully, what was improper about Moxie_McTavish showing the contents of an article and the link to it?
Maui News often blocks articles if the wannabe viewer isn't a subscriber, so the link isn't helpful in that case. Moxie provided both. Please explain. Thanks.
