If you happen to read something and feel it is something that can be discussed as a theory or opinion I don't see why not.
For example, and this is only an example, if I happen to read that the perp had a gun, even though it is rumor, we can discuss that maybe the weapon was not a knife as thought but a gun and speculate if that fits into the case. (I did not read this I'm only using this as a hypothetical.)

Yes, a bit of hypothetical speculation along with a few IMO's does sometimes circumvent the strict TOS of WS. But, I understand what you are saying, Pua, why discuss something as a hypothetical when it's being stated "publicly" (though not in MSM) by someone directly associated with Charli.

Might I suggest you contact a mod and ask them if it's okay to link this particular post or discuss openly what it suggests?

Good idea. I would, but today was very long and I had no free time.

Let me ask then ... as we all know here, we've done a lot of spec on the location where she was killed, would he pick a place close to home, was the Hana Highway out to Keanae or Nahiku part of his territory where he felt comfortable, was she kidnaped, drugged somehow, or was she tricked into driving Steven out there, IF she ever went out there alive.

We've heard a rumor that we've discussed that Steven tried to get her to go out Hana Highway multiple times with him not long before the night she disappeared, but we've never heard any details. Well, some of us may have who are on Maui, but I didn't, and none were discussed here.

What would we think if it turned out she survived an early attempt where he either chickened out or for some reason decided to abort, before actually revealing his murderous attempt, but still going way past the boundaries of non-scary behavior? What if HE drove her out Hana Highway at night, towards or even to Nahiku, and she said she wanted to turn around and he ignored her? What if she cried and cried and begged and he was silent and kept on driving? Why would he do that if he wasn't putting his plan into motion to kill her and Joshua? But then he just turned around, and she lived to tell someone.

Why do we think he would abort? Perhaps he realized it wasn't going to go quietly and he needed to tweak the plan? Maybe she used to be more compliant before she became a mother to be, and he had miscalculated? Why were empty rolls of duct tape found by her clothes and blanket? Did he tie her up and restrain her?
Why were the stab wounds focused in one area if she was awake and not restrained? Wouldn't a struggle include thrashing and wriggling and spread out the area where she was stabbed?

It just breaks my heart that she would go with him again after that, but we don't actually know whether she did.

In any case, a lot points to Steven wanting to do this monstrous deed in the lonely wilds of the Hana Highway. Maybe significant to him, maybe the place he lived didn't give him enough seclusion because he shared it. Nor was her place isolated.

There is a line in the Disappeared show where it is reported their relationship had a history of secret liaisons out in the woods, that Charli confided to at least one friend, but Steven didn't talk about it. I'll post it below. I wonder if they had a spot out in Hana that was part of the history, or more than one. Explains why she might start to go out there with him. Say if the vehicle breakdown was never even a story he tried on her. Because it seems weird to most everyone that a pregnant woman with work the next day would agree to go to Keanae so he could get his vehicle, as many people have commented. But maybe that was just an after the fact cover story and they had a sort of pattern of going out there at night (see post below).

This is an excerpt from the "Disappeared" special. The episode can be found free online, but I don't have that link in front of me. I took notes on it some months back. Definitely qualifies as MSM.

8:00 (video location)
Kim: Phaedra and I were going over list of names of who she could possibly have gone to see ... and there's only that one person she would go do something for in the middle of the night and not tell anyone. Her ex-boyfriend, Steven Capobianco.

Family members say that Charli would do anything for Steven, the father of her unborn child.
Although the couple has been broken up for well over a year, they are still friends, and sometimes more.

DREW KAISER
they weren't together but I know that in the past they used to meet all the time
in secluded places, in the middle of the night and hook up
I mean it's a secret Charli would tell me, I'd never hear it from Steven.

KIM
Charli loved Steven, and there was no one else, there hasn't been anyone else for a very long time.
It seems like he exerted a great deal of power over her, like he could bend her to his will much of the time. But not always.

It's very quiet in here! What a drag for the family and friends and justice, that the trial is not until 2016. I just don't understand why two defense motions had to consume almost an entire year, when actual court time spent on the motions was less than a day if you add up all the appearances. Ridiculous IMO. And why didn't MPD get their act together with the Miranda tape when the motion was first filed. Did they not have a clue what had happened in their own station?

Good post here

"Slightly off topic, but I want to add my thanks to Margarita25 for posting that link to awareness space. I had been totally unaware of the concept until she mentioned it in connection with AJ's case. It's probably one of the most important investigative tools I've added to my arsenal since coming to WS. While studying up on that concept, I discovered Geographical Profiling, which is slightly different from Awareness Space, in that it focuses on the locations of victims (crime scene or dumpsite) in order to determine the perpetrator's likely area of residence. Where Awareness Space leaves a gaping hole if you don't know who the killer is, Geographical Profiling fills in that hole, because it isn't necessary to know anything about the killer. Together, they pack one hell of a punch.
Here's the basic Wiki link, if anyone is interested in using that as a jumping off point for further study.

SC's awareness space & comfort zone include Pe'ahi and Hana highway. According to this it make sense for him to bring the crime away from Charli's home, Makawao and away from his home "buffer zone. "

Made me think: Nala was found close next to highway, her 4Runner at Jaws not hidden also close to road, and the clothes at Honomanu also a drive up place. So the bodies would be farther from a drive up place but probably not much farther. The other sites he wanted to be quick about it and close to being able to drive off.

And this

Pe'ahi and Nahiku market place are what that calls "crime hotspots" . Was there a crime hotspot where he might have hidden the bodies?

So where are you thinking Run?
Also what is up place?

Looks like Charli's landlord has been charged for the theft of her property. Good.
I haven't found anything on the court date yet. Seems like it was pushed back again.

Can anyone tell me if the skull painting was painting by SC???

I would be surprised if she didn't have a password protecting anyone from accessing the phone. Most people do and most people don't give their password out. I think its far fetched that he was able to turn anything on or off in her phone.

Something came to mind while reading this. With an iphone you run everything through itunes right? So if Charli's cell was locked he can reset to factory default settings or erase the cell completely if he had her itunes account information or her laptop. Cell is missing. Laptop is missing. So is the obvious digital trail.

Did he really have time on Sunday to do everything?

Checking in. Justice for Charli and Joshua.

It is good to see you guys. I am following and not forgetting too.

re the locked phone -- her friends and family would likely know her habit, but I think there's a decent chance it was not locked. In my time in Hawai'i, I've never kept my phone set to lock nor does anyone I know do that. Granted I hardly know that many people.
With he iPhone default setting, every time I put the phone down it wants the passcode again and it gets old fast for people like me who use the phone to browse and email and text. The longest wait to lock in the menu on mine is 4 hours. I just turned it off. Things on my phone require passwords if they are important like the bank app or buying anything.
maybe it is silly of me, but Hawaii is a relaxed place.

A lot of stuff that would be relevant for Steven is not on iTunes, only the phone. Text Messages in particular. Emails would be on the phone and possibly on servers, depending on what she used, all webmail or download and delete (and how soon the delete was set to go).

Regardless of the phone, if SC did ask her to go to Keanae or Nahiku that night, he couldn't be 100 per cent she didn't tell her family at the party, which would not be in electronic form.

I'm amazed that he was bold enough to kidnap her twice and to go in the same direction (most likely). He's incredibly cocky.

As a side note, remember discussing the parts car? With the landlord finally getting charged for stealing her stuff, I read the old article again, and this time noticed the family mentions it.

The parts car was parked in front of her rental, and the family had it towed away as part of daylong with her stuff, early on. So Brooke later accused Lydia of helping SC steal it. Now I know it was after the crime. I wonder if hey would have had it towed to the horse ranch. There would have been room. I remember though it was supposed to have been left at a business in Makawao.

What do you mean he kidnapped her twice?

  • #697
That's what I was posting about on 9/16 and 9/17.
Family comment on Facebook shedding light on the old info we had that SC had been trying to get her out Hana Highway prior to her disappearance.

Per the comment, Charli reported to family member or members that in January, SC was driving, Charli was passenger, and it was night, and he headed out Hana Highway. She asked him to go back, pleaded, cried, no response from him. But then he turned around, without explanation, and took her back.

Brooke thinks this is good evidence of kidnapping (so do I, but hearsay problems?).

To me it sounds like he planned to kill her and chickened out or something was not going according to plan, maybe some adjustment needed.

it just gave me chills to hear that she pretty much had a preview of the terrible future, and was scared by what happened, but didn't apparently know how much danger she had been in. Didn't know the extent of the monster.

I have to wonder whether she voluntarily got in a vehicle at night with him again, the night she died -- or whether to get her to go quietly, he ambushed her and forced her into the car or drugged her, restrained her, gagged her, all of which has been speculated here at various times.

Gotcha. I do remember reports that he had tried to get her out Hana before, but I assumed/took that as he called her to meet him there or something to that effect. I did not see that version of that night in January. But now that makes sense. He tried to get her out there before, yes, now I read between the lines on that.

I don't think she went with him on her own accord. I think I was the biggest advocate for my theory (lol) that he waited for her at her house or down the road as she pulled in. Of course I have no idea if her home was in a isolated spot for that to happen or other homes around that could have seen him waiting or walking. It was just what I visualized in my head as all accounts point to her not willingly meeting him or even knowing she would see him that night.

Was a decision made on the evidence yet?

Like the Family Feud Pua and HGO, good answer good answer! Lol.

Evidence heard: there's a court date tomorrow.

Charli's studio was isolated in the sense that it was on a property located at the beginning of a street but it was hidden by a huge wall of foliage.

Pua I've wondered too if maybe Charli wasn't the doting ex girlfriend as it's often speculated. Something drove him to the breaking point and I have a hard time believing it was the woman in PA. He capitalized on Moiera's disappearance a month earlier to make it seem like there was a serial killer on Maui. But hello, the only serial killers on Maui are fast food and ex boyfriends!

Lydia, Adam and the towed Toyota. Parking is at a premium on Maui. Keeping the car on a farm upcountry sounds ideal.

While hanging Halloween decorations the other day the jawbone fell off of the skeleton and my stomach flopped. This man has messed up Halloween (Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries) for a whole lot of people. Can we brainstorm legal ways to torment him? We need to find Charli's remains.
