Obvious their bodies were not found there. Could be they were murdered there and then moved. Or just he carelessly left some evidence there. Or he left evidence there on purpose.

This is what I meant when I mentioned poetic license earlier. This is a dramatic poem, not a statement of the facts, so we can't really know how much blood they think there was. They went to the spot 9-10 months after the murder, and you know the rain that area gets, so I think they had to imagine the blood stains. Perhaps they were shown a photo, don't know. You notice the poem says "HAD" been soaked with blood, past tense.

I'm not questioning the blood was there. Like I said before, something terrible happened on the spot. But I don't see how anyone can know that she "died" there, breathed her last breath there, because no witnesses have come forward. She could have been brought there post mortem and whatever was done was done there.

A more sophisticated killer might even have collected the blood elsewhere and brought it for staging. At this point I do not believe SC had that level of planning and execution in what he did.

It does sound like that is where he dismembered them. From evidence we know was found there.
How far was it from where a vehicle could be parked? Did he murder her some place else, drive her to there drag her out from vehicle? If she was in driver seat when he murdered her he would be covered in blood to drive it to any place after. Big risk to be pulled over. He was covered in blood at some point no matter what because stabbing.

Yeah, all of the above possible.
I tend to think now that she was attacked in the vehicle and brought to this spot, and dismembered.
However, the jawbone found as a bone does not fit. No body part becomes a "bone" in 4-5 days, not even along Hana Highway. I guess my theory is that he took their remains away and then brought it back, but I don't know why exactly or what he thought he was accomplishing.

When the trial happens, I guess we will finally hear whether the jawbone was truly defleshed and what their theory is on that.

There is a dirt access road to Paraquat's, right? So he could drive in. FTL said not on the beach. Sister said they were worried the evidence would wash away so they moved it. There is a stream or river there flowing to the beach. I wish there were better pics of this area, hard to find online.

FTL said the clothes were where they were likely to be found, but not where someone could toss them out of a moving vehicle.

The bone and fingernails were not found right with the clothes. That is why sister and friends did not find them. (I think it is good she did not, way too heavy an experience, clothes were horrible enough.) The police found this spot with the blood, bone, fingernails, tooth when they widened the search of that area the day after the clothes were found, and we have no description of how far away that was. "Near by" ...

Also, the testimony was that the jawbone was defleshed. Pua, why are you questioning if that is true? The testimony was not that it was partially defleshed or undetermined but defleshed.

Agree with you about the screams in Haiku. Noise is also why I resist the idea he shot her there. People do call police when gunshots go off (not always, in rural areas, but a risk).

Omg - why did I google "what does a dismembered body look like"? Please DO NOT google it. Very disturbing.

But I looked at those images to see what Charli's killer saw. You'd have to be a maniac to do that to someone you once loved. Most domestic homicides are by shooting, why put so much effort into dismembering her body when she was already gone? So I read a half dozen disgusting websites devoted to consumption of human remains and the proper skinning of a human being and I realize Steven didn't do that. All of the gross websites I visited stressed the importance of a table, buckets, an array of knives and saws and most importantly, time.

I think he took out her jawbone/teeth and cut her fingernails/hair off to delay ID'ing of her body. Was he counting on her sketelal remains being found years from 2014 and possibly confused with Laura Vogel or another missing person? Maybe.

It's probable Charli is buried somewhere in a shallow grave out Honomanu way.

I have been driving for almost 20 years. I can count on one hand how many times I've been pulled over. My spouse says the same thing. Is it really that risky to be pulled over by police? Actually, in a car may have been the safest place for him to be.

If you are a guy in your early 20's on Maui, probably. Having seen SC's driving record, he's been stopped quite a few times. He was driving on a suspended license, so basically if they stopped him he would be arrested and they would have every right to stop the car.

The only thing in his favor was driving Charli's car -- plates of a presumably safe and good record holding driver.

Was not referring to forensics post arson. Was commenting on theory of stabbing Charli in the vehicle, then driving the preumably bloody interior vehicle to Peahi and wherever else first, such as Nahiku.
