Thanks, Nikki. Here's the link. So I guess they did Max's cross and witness questions yesterday and moved on to the transfer of the items to the police. I wonder who's up Monday. Hoping for a live stream from KHON.

Asked if she could distinguish rotting human flesh from other rotting smells, Bonacorsi replied, "Ten out of 10 times. It has its own unique smell. It's like no other."

Impossible for Apo to not look like a dummy if he tries to say they were framing Steven at Paraquats including using the smell of rotting human flesh. Only card Apo has is to say evidence was moved and LE weren't good with crime scene and procedures so no DNA points exactly at SC. Too bad but very damning that SC was at the place alone at least twice two days before the evidence was found. Multiple witnesses saw SC drive out of the area alone and say he checked it him self. And SC was there early that month with his cousin and was familiar with the spot. The only area for doubt is whether he did it alone or had help.

Kim is scheduled for Monday. I heard it was pretty horrific seeing the actual items in the courtroom. Gruesome. Slash mark in the polka dot shirt in upper left area (heart). There was some procedural dispute from Apo that I believe he won preventing skirt from being allowed (in court, or altogether as evidence, I'm not sure, I'll try to find out). Phaedra has already been subpoenaed to be called by the defense.

Skirt wasn't allowed regarding that witness only (female officer)

When I was like 13 years old I was taught to iron my Dad' s aloha shirts. For like 25 cents eaux. He bought them at " Kramers - Big and Tall. Three 🤬🤬🤬. Then my mother hooked me up with a " mother helpers " job thru the local paper. Once the lady discovered my ironing talents - that is all I did for her. Besides peeling mangos for chutney. I then went on to iron hubby' s aloha shirts for many years. A clean aloha shirt takes effort. It is not the same as a uniform and I can see Steven' s shirt is un-washed and un-ironed.

Yep, you're so right. It is very apparent SC is looking very unkempt.

Ugh. It makes me shudder just to think about the state of the clothing.

Phaedra is being called by the defense??? Wow. Apo is truly desperate.

Thanks for the inside info. I'm guessing that we will have live stream on Monday.

I guess Maui Correctional Center "chic" isn't all it could be. ;-)

actually, most criminal court appearances I see on TV here involve stunning orange jumpsuits.

Shudder here too, just reading about the hole over the heart.
I keep thinking about this tired but happy young mom to be who leaves her family birthday get together and then no more than an hour or three later, she is being viciously stabbed and then the rest of it. Why? Why?
How often must her family think of how it was all for no reason more than really horrible decision making on Steven's part that somehow he needed to do this. Or maybe he was just that enraged and obsessed that the pregnancy had spun out of his control. It is absolutely tragic that she crossed paths with this sick puppy.

I am confused. I made a post last night about how if the smell was still there two days after the blanket was removed, nothing they found Saturday accounted for that, so maybe the remains were in that area. The post disappeared.
Now I see from an email notification that Nikki posted something along the same reasoning (but better said), but I cannot see the post on the forum.
Am I not seeing posts that are right in front of me, or are they getting zapped?

Nikki asked if the smell would linger without a source present.
I cannot see how it would, given this is outdoors. Saturday they found defleshed jawbones, fingertips, and a presumably tiny bit of flesh on a piercing, and maggots on the ground (which don't smell). That is not enough to permeate that grid with stench as the officer implied. And the maggots show that flesh had been there on that spot ..:

Zapping going on, Pua.
My experience from living on a ranch for 40 years has been that the smell dissipates and disappears very quickly once a body (animal) is removed. Also, if the dogs bring back a deer leg, etc. the stench comes with the body part. That's the sum of my expertise.

I don't get it. This directly relates to the most recent testimony in the trial. The subject is gut-wrenching to write about, but the posts are no more unpleasant than the testimony and the facts. Charli's family needs to know what became of her full remains, and this might be a clue to where they were at that time.

Yes, exactly. The gas molecules in the air carrying the smell are going to be blown away on the breeze, and unless new gas is being produced, it will soon be gone.
My experience is limited to "prizes" (rodents mostly) brought in by the cats and left somewhere out of sight until I get wind of them. Even inside, the odor is gone very fast once I locate the source and eliminate it.

What I don't know is whether the decomp odor will emanate from a shallow grave. I think that dirt would block it, but some covering like rocks or leaves would have gaps and gases would get through.

I seem to remember that MPD brought in cadaver dogs at one point, but I'm not sure when. Anyone know?

I am reasonably certain that MPD did not bring in cadaver dogs. I inquired early on because I thought, given the East Maui terrain, that these specially trained dogs would have been extremely helpful.

Agree with both of you that odor dissipates once the source of the odor is removed.
