If he never meant for any evidence to be found - if he had confidence in the place he would hide the body - why cut off the other parts and have them separate at all?

Sorry this is delayed--possible that the tips of fingers were severed during stabbing, and not intentional. --if a sharp weapon could do that...Don't know about the jaw. Shudder.

He drifts off into deep thinking quite often. I keep waiting for him to stand up and say I did it.

I thought of that as well. He's right handed, it's rumored that he was driving. If he stabbed her in the car, using his left hand on the steering wheel for support, that may have been where he injured his left pinky. If she's fighting him off, defensive moves could have loped off her righthand fingertips.

A clearer picture is emerging, for sure. So he didn't care for Nala. She was just a big, old, dumb dog. Untrained and tore things up when she was bored. I would think he'd want to get rid of Nala quick. Maybe her barking and tearing up the truck made him as careless as he was that night.

Loio, are you allowed to give a feel for the jury? Are they engaged? Taking notes? Bored? Tear up at the graphic photos? Mostly men? Women? Did the pregnant women get assigned?

Thanks for the video, Kapua. Long road (+/- 10 minutes) with a number of driveways. I didn't see the Marketplace, though; perhaps it's on the hwy? If SC drove down that road in the dark he probably disabled the led lights in the skull to be less recognizable. If so, that further leads me to believe Charli was earlier subdued or killed. Whether or not that was at Paraquats or Haiku I have no idea.

Here's the Marketplace. It is at MM 29 on the Hana Hwy., not on Nahiku Road.

Catching up w/today's testimony. His description of the mythical Brian who he claims gave him a ride when his vehicle broke down is hilarious! Haole guy with dreadlocks! and a red, yellow and green something or another dangling from his rear view.

Nahiku Marketplace is next to the road, Hana Highway. You don't drive off into Nahiku.

If we don't believe his truck got stuck the night before then why was it important to him to say his truck was at Honomanu the night before?

  • #432
Maybe he had his truck at Honomanu AFTER the night Charli was murdered and was saying it was there the night before hopes to explain tracks found?

Speaking of being seen/caught, do any locals know how often that stretch of road is patrolled at night? I can't imagine that there's a huge police presence on that rural road late at night, but I also assume somebody has to do rounds to ensure that no one is stranded on the highway. In my neck of the woods, the CHP would tag any unattended vehicle on the roadside. Maybe we will hear testimony by the officer assigned to patrol that area.

RE police presence at night, no. After 11 only if they get a call.

RE as for his vehicle being on the road and tagged or not, his vehicle WAS NOT on the road as witnessed by my eyes. I went through that area between 8:45-9:00 that night. NO VEHICLE On SIDE OF ROAD. Now that I know where the vehicle supposedly was, that's a narrow part of the road. NO homes even nearby. Drove that road 2-3 times a month for 4 yrs, from 2011 to 2015.

Re Nala. He was found by a resident, that brought it to one of the police officers house. The station was not yet open. Officer brought Nala to the station (I have firsthand knowledge of this)

In the Day 5 part 3 interview, at 12:27, the detective tells SC "you know a lot of tourists drive the road to Hana, right?"... "And you know a lot of them record the trip with their electronic devices?'' I don't know if he is bluffing or if MPD actually has video from a tourist who recorded the stretch of Hana Hwy. on which he says his truck was stuck on Feb 9. It would be SO great if they do.

Thanks! That explains why Mr. Driving-on-a-suspended-license would choose to do his dirty work in various places along Hana Hwy. There was little chance of him being pulled over with evidence in the vehicle. But if the grill on Charli's vehicle was in place, someone may have seen the "very distinctive" grill lights. SC mentioned them at least twice, so we know that he was paranoid about that.

What if we speculated that they all three went to Nahiku. SC kicked Nala out of the car and started driving back as he didnt want her protector around. Forget 18/19/20/21 MM's. . He takes her to Paraquats and kills her. Throws his jeans away Kaumahina. Prepares to get rid of her car. If we start in Nahiku it takes the question of backtracking out.
I was thinking this today as well after the other posts about the order he went. Seeing you post it makes it sound even more likely.

Her phone not pinging last until around 11 PM, to a Honomanu tower, 2 1/2 hours after she departs her sister's house in Haiku, makes it likely that Nala was disposed of first. As you point out, he would not want Nala there when he hurt Charli, and why would he want to drive around on the highway post-murder to drop off Nala? Nala in Nahiku never made sense until this interview where we learn Charli has friends there that SC knows of who would take care of Nala. Maybe Nala has visited these friends with Charli, and he thinks Nala will know their house?

He must do something to silence Charli though, while carrying this out. He must be the one driving and she is restrained and gagged or drugged.
edit: or she is driving and he has a knife or gun on her. Brooke has said that Charli would stay in the truck under duress in order to protect her child, that if not for the fetus' safety, Charli would have resisted or jumped.

I've thought quite a bit about those grill lights, because I would've had those headlights coming at me from an SUV, which is much higher than the small sedan I was driving and I would've noticed it. So either the timeline is not what he described. Or maybe those grills were removed before he drove out there with her? Or if they left haiku, and went straight to paraquat Bay Road, they could have arrived there and gone down that road before I passed through that area. I'm estimating I would have been at paraquat Bay Road at 9:15 or 9:30.

When was Nalu found? I forgot.....

Loo says that leaving your car on the side of the road on Hana Hwy is like leaving a $100 bill on the sidewalk. He told SC that he's a local boy and should know that. LOL.
Loo is funny in a low key way. And right. When I first heard about her burned car, I always thought his plan was to have people assume it was local boys. The MO is to strip everything valuable off a broken down vehicle and then torch it at one of the regular spots. In this case, Peahi, as he pointed out to HNN. Except he wanted them to think it happened to Charli's car, and forgot the unlikelihood that HIS car was supposedly fine after he left it overnight and all day Sunday.

So cool that you were there and can testify to that.
Where did he say they met in Haiku? Was he standing just off his property and she swung by, according to him? I don't remember.
There seems to be one problem with him subduing her in Haiku, the presence of his grandfather. Very risky. I think maybe he got her to drive him to some place private enough to where he could subdue her, probably not that far away, and then drove out Hana way. I don't think she would go towards Hana, too late, low on gas as we have discussed many times.

Adam G said the two had outdoors places they used to meet that were secret (in the Disappeared special).
