Two things really bugging me: 1. Charli's family had the life360 app. The last ping of her phone was at 10:56pm Sunday at Nua'ailua. Why doesn't anyone go check until Tuesday evening? Even then, they seem to have either trusted or been intimidated by Steven's lie that he already checked down there Tuesday. Her body may have been found if the family and police got down there sooner, especially if he didn't move it till Weds. If someone you love goes missing and is pregnant, you go where the last GPS ping was if you have that info right away. Right?

2. Why is there no video footage of his trip to Kahului buying supplies (duct tape and zip ties?)? On the day Charli disappeared Steven mentioned that they didn't get going till late in the evening because he had things to do. He leaves work at 3:52 and his phone pings a tower near the Kahului airport at 4:24 per SA Easter. So assuming he went into town for supplies, wouldn't there be some camera footage that could provide a solid link to the murder evidence found?

Here's a link to the youtube video of SA Easter's Cell phone analysis. He talks about Steven being in Kahului around the 12min mark:

1. Phaedra testified that she had been trying to find someone to take her down to Nua'ailua all along. She was 16 and didn't have her own car. As to why noone else had the sense or the vehicle to go there, including the police, that's a fair question for which I have no answer. I also believe that if they'd gone down there Monday night, they might have found the body, and possibly the phone itself.

2. We don't know that there's no footage of SC buying supplies. There are still a few witnesses to go.

Vehicle caught on video moments before defendant clocked in at work

Mahalo, Lila Fujimoto and Maui News!

Minutes after a lifted Toyota 4Runner was seen heading uphill on Baldwin Avenue in Paia, murder suspect Steven Capobianco clocked into his job nearby the morning of Feb. 9, 2014, a witness said Monday.

Capobianco punched in at 6:53 a.m. that day at Mana Foods and took a roughly half-hour break at noon before clocking out at 3:52 p.m., said Patricia Gagne, general manager at the Paia store.

---------------------------------------------------------

After receiving the evidence from police officers at about 2 a.m. Feb. 14, 2014, police evidence specialist Anthony Earles said he stored the wet items in a secure refrigerator at the Maui Police Department Forensic Facility in Wailuku.

After placing the clothing and blanket in individual forensic drying cabinet chambers, Earles said he used forceps to recover visible hairs before doing "tape lifting" to collect other trace evidence.

He said he used forceps to recover about 50 hairs from the hoodie sweatshirt. "Some of them appeared to be what I would consider to be dog hairs," Earles said.

Earles, who began testifying last week, said he tried to recover fingerprints from both the outside and sticky portions of the rolls of tape but was unsuccessful.

Victim blaming

They weren't sure she was missing until Monday night and then they went and checked her house Monday night.

The police should have moved faster on Tuesday.

RunDaSurf: No way am I blaming the family or the victim. Its obviously not their fault at all, I am just very curious. I am a mom myself and if I knew where the phone last pinged, and that it was unusual for my pregnant child to go all day without contact, I would have personally driven out there Monday night! Its just been bothering me, and not meant to blame the family at all

I really hope there is some footage from him buying supplies yet to come. I feel like it would assure a conviction. Near the airport there is a Kmart, Ace and Walmart. All have cameras!

They might have run into The Cutter. We all know now how he ran back out there that night. That app is why his butt is sitting in jail right now.

If MPD had gone out there Monday night, they would have caught SC in the act and this trial would be over by now. Phaedra Wais, Taylor Farner, Kurt and Drew Kaiser, and Jennifer Taylor are the heroes of this case in my mind.

If anything, I blame MPD. Thank goodness that Kimberly had 360 for the family and that Phaedra insisted on pursuing the area, because I think thats the main reason they found all they did so quickly. Based on the knowledge that in the last few years the MPD has dropped the ball on numerous missing women cases (Astara Evenstar, Laura Vogel and Mo Monsalve off the top of my head) I would have just gone out there with some friends and searched, so thats why it troubled me. Think about it: the only reason the jawbone and fingernails were found Friday is because one officer lost his sunglasses and another went back to canvas the area with him after they had called the search off in that area for the day, after Phaedra, Molly and Max found evidence Thursday. Im so glad the family did all they did, it made sure his butt is in jail! I never meant to blame the family- just knowing MPDs history, I wouldn't have relied on them.

I have no comment on MPD. I'm grateful they put forth the resources they have so far. Recent article in the paper was how MPD let all these rape kits expire. What is that all about? Marsy's Law doesn't pass here in Hawaii but State lawmakers manage to stop work on the Oluwalu seawall because of a lawsuit and protests. It's time to make domestic violence and violent assault against women a priority in this state.

Who posted that they found an Ace Hardware card at the scene?

I'm struggling to figure out why even after testimony, we don't know what day Charli's car was picked apart by the mechanic and the homeless guys. Valuable dates and times are missing from witness testimony. Even on the archived live streams.

And who was the mechanic from Peahi that tipped off Christopher Fanelli and his friend that her truck was at Jaws for scavenging?
Doesn't matter? Does matter?

That was me. The officer speaks about it on the stand here at 28:40

He says he took the small Ace Rewards card to Ace, scanned it, but nothing came up and they did nothing else. :-(

I'm sure the first days were an overwhelming nightmare for her family. A spinning, unfocused, overwhelming nightmare.
Kim reported her missing late Monday night after doing normal due diligence through out the day.
Who would have thought the outcome of not hearing from her would be this.
The first initial search was with the thought process that she ran off the road. No one would have thought of searching a deserted, dark, dirt road.
I applaud her family and friends for organizing quickly once reality set in and the storm they became.
Thank God the officer dropped his sunglasses, because who would have thought to look for fingernails in a massive jungle.
Divine intervention several times in this case.
