1, The marriage had become strained recently, and Konig was showing signs of “extreme jealousy” and “has attempted to control and monitor all of [the victim’s] communications.”
2. The husband planned the weekend getaway without the kids and suggested the hiking the trail on which the incident occurred.
3. When the trail started showing “narrow ridge sections with steep drop-offs on both sides,” the victim asked not to go any further.
4. Konig then suggested they take a selfie at the edge of the cliff, but the victim was again uncomfortable and moved away. Konig then attacked her “yelling something to the effect of, ‘Get back over there, I’m so [expletive] sick of you.’” She thought he was joking, then “quickly realized he was seriously trying to make me fall off the cliff.”
5. During the attack, Konig pulled out a syringe and vial from his bag and tried to inject the victim. “I do not know what was in the syringe, but Gerhardt is an anesthesiologist and has access to several potentially lethal medications as part of his employment.”
