Holly Bobo found deceased, discussion thread *Arrests* #8

This is amazing. We have literal audio of the defense team discussing strategy and they're talking about how they're gonna blame Britt for this crime but they need to be careful because they have nothing to prove that he did it. I guess when you claim ineffective assistance of counsel you have to turn over all your work product in discovery for the other side to review. I've never seen this much curtain pulling on defense discussions/strategy in a murder case.

I'm talking to myself. LOL.

No you’re not, HaHa!
I’ve read every word you’ve written today. You’ve absolutely invaluable to your WS friends today interested in this case!

There is no way they have enough to get a new trial. The state proved today that Zach Adams had adequate counsel/representation. He is not entitled to the best legal defense just an adequate one. I’m not clear at this point what error was committed that would’ve changed the outcome of the trial or that unfairly prejudiced his defense? This seemed more like throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks.

There was literally a TBI agent that testified on Zach Adams’ behalf saying he didn’t think he did it and he still got convicted.

Jason Autry was the most consequential witness. He was unshakable.

Jennifer Thompson testified today that he just flat out made it all up. And she said all these guys were innocent and she just couldn’t understand why they pled guilty. According to her, Autry implicated himself for no reason.

At one point when Zach asks Autry to kill his brother Dylan Adams because he was not sleeping well and running his mouth about the crime, Autry tells Zach he will think about it but if he agrees to kill Dylan he will also kill him (Zach). When the prosecutor asked him why he wanted to kill Zach, he said he was angry he involved him in this crime.

Jennifer Thompson did absolutely nothing to discredit Autry at trial. She spent most of her cross going over maps with him. I don’t think it was incompetence on her part, she just had nothing to work with.

Her testimony today was about advocacy for her client and not the truth. Judge had to have seen that.

I'll admit that I think he may pull a new trial on this.
Im going to be honest, if I had been a juror for the original trial, I dont think the state proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt (to me, IMO) based upon what i have read. Im not saying he's innocent, either.

I’m listening to you. 🌺

I am too @Weki or reading actually! :) And THANK YOU for giving us info on these hearings! Much appreciated! Now I have to find a list of the defense witnesses - hopefully an article is out there for this! Again - THANKS! :D

Here’s Dylan Adams (Zach’s brother) who pled guilty to these crimes testifying at an earlier point in the hearing. I didn’t listen to his direct because he’s lying imo and trying to help his brother. I started at cross exam and the state played a jail recording of Dylan confessing to his mother that he saw Holly at Zach’s house that day and Shayne was there too. It starts around the 1hour and 45 mins mark. You may have to rewind in case this link goes to where I’ve paused it after that was played.

His original lawyer is really falling on her sword over this and hearing him criticize her organizing skills is interesting.

Jennifer Thompson? I'm sitting here slack jawed at her answers.

She's got to be getting paid for this performance as she has a list of credentials a mile long but can't seem to remember simple things. But she remembered the restaurant that she had lunch with the team at.

It’s quite something, isn’t it? I don’t know how she justifies deceiving the court. Omitting the truth is a form of lying imo. She’s throwing everybody under the bus: the trial judge, co-counsel, state attorneys, TBI. And for what?

I understand why Zach Adams wants to lie/deceive the court. What is HER motive? I doubt anyone is paying her. She’s just doing it out of the “goodness” of her heart, I guess. She shut down her practice and focused solely on this case back then. What is her obsession with this defendant?

11/19/25 Update: Defense witnesses: Retired Memphis police officer Dennis Benjamin testified that he came onto the case in 2013 after a call from Holly’s mother. Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Paul Hagerman, who helped prosecute the 2017 trial under lead special prosecutor and now-Judge Jennifer Nichols, took the stand after Benjamin. Former TBI Special Agent Valerie Trout, who worked on the Bobo investigation until she was terminated from the bureau in 2016, closed out Wednesday’s testimony. Hearing continued on Thursday, 11/20/25.
11/20/25 Update: Defense witnesses: Zach Adams testified Thursday in his post-conviction hearing, denying under oath that he kidnapped, raped, or killed & tying his alibi to a bank ATM stop he says investigators never fully documented. Former special prosecutor Jennifer Nichols, who led the 2017 trial team & now serves as a Tennessee circuit court judge. The hearing is scheduled to continue on Friday, 11/21/25 in Savannah. Judge Bradberry will later issue a written ruling on the petition.
11/21/25 Update: Defense witness: Defense attorney Jennifer Thompson on the stand who Attorney Doug Bates claims had insufficient council with Adams during his original conviction. Dylan Adams, [Zach’s bro-not sure if on this date]. Defense rested their case. State will call 6 witnesses on 12/29/25 & 12/30/25.

Sentenced to 19 years in prison. Lost appeal.

This closing argument by the state is excellent. Prosecutor looked straight at the murderer and said the state of Tennessee couldn’t care less where you were at 11:50 am on April 13th. That’s the ATM video from Parsons that he’s using for this petition saying it’s his alibi for the murder.

Murder happened between 8-10:30.

Prosecutor looked straight at him several times at the beginning of her argument and he looked back defiantly. And then shame set in and he sat there defeated and stopped trying to stare her down.

Yes, she is laying it out well and I love the way she is slamming the whole ATM video scandal.
