No one is mentioning who the other missing person in Decatur the remains could be. Here's an article about Kristie Baugus missing since Oct. 1999. Oddly, another Pearcy family member was looked at in her disappearance.
Rumor has it her body was scattered along I40 and other such tales. Honestly, I hope this is Holly so her family can put her to rest. jmo

Kind of grotesque question, but, does anyone know how long it would take a human skull to decomp all the flesh and tissue (basically just leaving bone) if-there was no animal interference? I realize out in the forest there most definitely were animals helping the decomp process; but I was just wondering about telling the length of time that bone might have been out there. If they can tell it has been out there at least 3 years, I would think that might help in identifying/or eliminating a missing person who ha been gone less time than Holly. Just a random thought I had. Thanks for any help.

Byrd said the possibilities as to whom the bones could belong are wider than one might suspect, even someone homeless passing through the area who might have died.

Byrd said the only other person missing from Decatur County besides Bobo is Kristie Baugus Moon who disappeared in October of 1999.

Monday the Sheriff's Department guarded the scene for the TBI. Once forensic experts are finished, Byrd said, the area will probably be released from his supervision.

I think it would only take a matter of months to decompose. It's not just animals, but insects and heat in the summer months. It has been over 100 degrees several times just this year. Any creature will decompose down to the skeleton quickly in the forest. And if the leaves fell on the body, or it was buried, that would speed things up, even in the winter months.
