Hostage Jill Carroll

  • #21
6 of the 8 women imprisoned in Iraq, are to be released this week. U.S. and Iraq Police say there is no connection, between the release of the women, and the demands of the kidnappers holding American Jill Carroll.

What a coincidence.

The U.S. again stated, they don't negotiate with terrorists.

I think there is so much political pressure on this administration, they don't want to incur any more.

I just heard, what sounded like, conflicting information on the release of these women. Stay tuned.

Kato, I watched it and never recovered from it. I will never do that again. I know there are other videos out there but I just won't go there ever again. I felt ashamed for even seeking it out. It physically made me ill and emotionally it wreaked havoc. At one point my body just jerked in response to the barbarism. Truly revolting. I would much prefer to remember Danny in the picture of him with that awesome smile. :(

indigo, your post brought tears to my eyes. I just want to give you a big hug. I remember how horrible I felt when Daniel was viciously murdered. Although I didn't see the video, I imagined what it was probably like for him. It took me awhile to get over that as well. I read an article about his wife last year. She's a remarkable woman who is making sure that she and Daniel's son knows everything about what a wonderful man his father was. The article just broke my heart. Daniel's murder was so senseless (as all of these are) and the animals doing the killings gain nothing from it. Truly tragic and senseless.

Jill Carroll and her family are in my prayers. God help her and save her.

Thank you so much, I appreciate your care and thoughtfulness. When I saw the video it was so out of character for me, I regretted having done it. Lesson learned.

I followed that story from the day it unfolded to it's tragic conclusion, intrigued by Danny and his beautiful French wife Mariane. They seemed a couple truly in love, so full of promise. I prayed fervently for his safe return and was saddened beyond belief when it wasn't to be. My heart was broken, as was the rest of the world's. Like you said... senseless.

These beasts will kill her because they can know matter what anyone else says. Don't go to these countries where they hate Americans so much.

I heard on the news that another part of their organization did let a female go recently but she wasn't an american. I don't think they will let this gal go.
Most of those outfits don't let them go. I can't even imagine what her family is going through.

For the life of me I don't understand why anyone is going over there now unless they are in the service. It is so dangerous and we know that if you are captured your chances of living are zero. There are other places to go that are less dangerous if a person wants to help others.

I share your sentiments in this post. I still feel ill from that video. I will never forget it and don't know why I watched. :(

(CNN) -- The father of Jill Carroll, the American journalist abducted in Iraq, called on his daughter's captors to release her Sunday night, telling them, "She is not your enemy."

"Jill started to tell your story, so please, let her finish it," Jim Carroll said in a statement he read on CNN. "Through the media, if necessary, advise her family and me of how we might initiate a dialogue that will lead to her release."

I can't even imagine what Jill's parents are going through. I'm still praying that she will be released unharmed.

(CNN) -- In new footage aired Monday on an Arabic-language news network, an American journalist kidnapped in Iraq urges Americans to demand the release of female prisoners in Iraq.

Appearing distraught, Jill Carroll wore a head scarf and spoke English in the video, which was dated January 28, the Qatar-based satellite network Al-Jazeera reported.

Prayers for her and her family. So hard to see :(

I saw this last night on CNN. So sad. I'm praying that her captors let her go. I can't even begin to imagine what her family is going through.

God be with her and keep her safe.

thanks...i have a bad feeling about this...i do hope she's released...
You're welcome close enough... I don't feel good about this either, the tape is too much like the one of Margaret Hassan (aid worker) where several tapes were aired of her in captivity, each one becoming more desperate. The last tape of Margaret before she was killed showed her crying and in distress just like this one of Jill. It is all so disheartening and frightening. I don't think she'll be released but I pray to God I am wrong...

No details yet...........

This is new.

The last time they aired her video, they did their own audio dubover saying what they claimed she was saying. It seemed as if maybe she wasn't willing to say what they wanted her too - or who knows why they took the audio out and put their own voices in.

Prayers for her and for her family.

a new video aired today... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060210...21X6GMA;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

Kidnapped American journalist Jill Carroll appeared in a video aired Thursday on a private Kuwaiti TV station, appealing in a calm, composed voice for her supporters to do whatever it takes to win her release "as quickly as possible." Carroll, wearing traditional Arab attire, said the date was Feb. 2, nearly a month after she was seized in Baghdad by armed men who killed her Iraqi translator. She was shown sitting on a chair in front of a wall with a large floral design.
