Houston- Adult, child injured in shooting at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood church

The shooter who entered Lakewood Church on Sunday with a long rifle and child in tow has been identified as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, according to multiple sources.
The 36-year-old previously identified as Jeffrey Escalante and had prior arrests for assault, forgery, marijuana possession, theft, evading and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to KHOU's Jeremy Rogalski. Accoring to a Texas Department of Public Safety records search, her criminal report dates back to 2005.
Now Im really curious if this was her child. If not, where did she get him?

The shooter used an AR-15 that had “Free Palestine” written on it, according to a federal law enforcement source. Investigators are trying to sort out whether she was politically motivated or a disturbed individual, the source said.

I think once MSM found her prior male alias' they connected dots but it appears the shooter has always been a woman.

That poor child. CPS investigated the shooter 4 times. Twice it was determined he was harmed. Tough article to read, including information about the other parent. IMO

No, but most church buildings don't hold as many people. A Megachurch is about the size of a convention center and this one has more expensive A/V equipment than a typical neighborhood church. And most churches can't compare to the amount of fundraising a megachurch can bring so having more cash on site would require security.

Was the church a "gun-free" zone? I don't find any reports of civilians with guns assisting the security guards.

Also, why are news outlets highlighting a trench coat? I don't understand why that matters.

I think the shooter may have worn the trench coat to conceal the rifle. Otherwise she would have been spotted immediately.

Like a soft target .. as church members are mostly facing front and away from the entrance (front) doors, so if there's danger their backs are turned away from it.
