they just showed new predicted stats on CNN --150mph before it hits Jamaica on Sunday.....and if that isn't bad enough, they said the last wobble was towards the North (may go right--Amanda, and Mt). More later.

Oh, super...I have relatives on the AL Gulf Coast and live 4 hours inland myself. Praying for everyone who could be in the path of this monster....esp. New Orleans, b/c they just can't take another one.

looks very strong right now--Hopefully, it won't turn into another superstorm like Hurricane Wilma from 2 years ago--Wilma was the Strongest hurricane in recorded history as measured by barometric pressure--The barometer reading was down to an amazing 26.04' on October 19th 2005--Sustained winds 180 mph--We don't need another one of those--It struck Cancun and then Florida

My cousin in Beaumont, Texas said they'd already run out of gas in places and store shelves were empty. G-d bless Texas. They don't need any more rain thats for sure.

Yeah people were lining up at the gas stations filling up gas cans already. I guess they want to be more prepared because when Rita was coming we werent evacuated until the last minute so everyone was running around crazy and gas was running out. Any way this goes I dont think its going to be a good outcome. I was hoping it would go away but its not looking promising right now. And we will definitely stay in touch.

Oh, dear, here we go again. Looks like I'm going to be busy stocking up this weekend, and getting my clueless kids ready, as I did for Rita. It was a waste of time for Rita, but I'd rather feel as prepared as possible.

I hope Houston will be able to evacuate/or not; in a more logical and expedient manner this time.

Category Four Hurricane:
Winds 131-155 mph (114-135 kt or 210-249 km/hr). Storm surge generally 13-18 ft above normal. More extensive curtainwall failures with some complete roof structure failures on small residences. Shrubs, trees, and all signs are blown down. Complete destruction of mobile homes. Extensive damage to doors and windows. Low-lying escape routes may be cut by rising water 3-5 hours before arrival of the center of the hurricane. Major damage to lower floors of structures near the shore. Terrain lower than 10 ft above sea level may be flooded requiring massive evacuation of residential areas as far inland as 6 miles (10 km). Hurricane Charley of 2004 was a Category Four hurricane made landfall in Charlotte County, Florida with winds of 150 mph. Hurricane Dennis (pdf) of 2005 struck the island of Cuba as a Category Four hurricane.

The weather channel said that as far as the track goes, the forward speed of the storm is of paramount importance---The slower the forward speed the more likely it will hit Old Mexico and extreme southern Texas--The faster the forward speed the more likely it will turn and hit Texas or even Louisiana--At the moment it is going about 18 mph

The forecaster said, if the storm moves too slow, it can cool the water underneath itself, and this will kill the hurricane. Also, if it moves too fast, that will also kill a hurricane. He said, 18mph is just about optimum for building the Perfect Hurricane. He said it will be 160mph when it hits the Yucatan Peninsula.

They are predicting it will be a Category 5 Hurricane when it hits the Yucatan Peninsula. It's all relative ph.

You're on the fringe dd. Odds are presntly good that you will be OK. Very outer part of the cone is Houston, and Tampico, Mexico. Subject to change.
