• KEY WEST, Fla. - Visitors were ordered to leave the Florida Keys on Sunday because of the possibility that Hurricane Ernesto could threaten the island chain, emergency officials said.
• The Monroe County Emergency Management office told tourists with immediate plans to travel to the Keys to postpone their trips and ordered those already in the island chain to leave.
• All travel trailers and recreational vehicles also were ordered off the islands immediately.

I pity those poor people in Ernesto's path. It looks like Florida has a great chance of taking one on the chin. That's an ugly predicted path, it could really mess Florida up.

As of now, I am going to get slammed...... I am right at the H where it says 8 a.m. Thursday morning.....

Please, everyone, on the Florida gulf coast - take your fans down to the beach and start blowing this towards Texas!!!!!

Yes Buzz, very fresh, especially for those that were directly, or indirectly involved.

My friend who lives in Vero Beach has family living in Miami, Naples and one in the Keys and wouldn't you know one of her sons is on a Oil related assignment in New Orleans.

Then I have two ex-classmates who are living in Pass Christian MS while thier company works on re-building some of that area.

Then, my nephew is working with a construction company working in New Orleans.

Any way you look at it, when it's Hurricane Season you can't help but think of those you know who may be in harms way.

englishleigh,when Wilma hit us last Oct,we were without power for Twelve Days--It was the strongest hurricane to hit PalmBeach county in 60 years--Winds gusted over 100 mph--an incredible experience--it was an actual "whiteout'--there were times when the wind sounded like Jet Engines--the sound was almost Ungodly--the power of nature

I lived in West Palm during Francis, Jean, and Wilma....we were without power for two weeks each time! The Sound of the wind is something I will never forget. Wilma was the first time I experienced the eye...creepy!

I really hope Ernest stays far from here!

Just got off the phone with my cousin in W. Palm. She just got a new roof from Wilma and trying to get mold off her walls still. My son in Miami also just called. He's ready to board up if necessary. Keys are being told to keep watch out. Tourists are being evacuated from the keys. All parks are shut down. Amraan, your hubby works for the park system, right? Take care all you in the path.

One good thing is Florida is probably better prepared for this than any other state.

I think right now at best it will be a cat 1 when it passes here.
SO for now I am playing it by ear.

They have ordered all non residence out of the Keys and plan to evac those n Mobile homes at 10 tomorrow.
