No wonder I was confused on the number of reported deaths (5 or 7).

Tropical storm Florence still poses 'catastrophic' flood threat

"Initially, authorities reported seven deaths attributed to the storm, but later revised that number after two deaths appeared to be associated with a murder-suicide. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said on Saturday morning that five deaths were storm-related, but several others were being investigated."

Seeing all these beach towns with these huge surges and all the flooding is surreal. I was just in Topsail on Monday!
My friends parks her RV at Lanier campground for the month of September so I took off work Monday and Tuesday to spend a long weekend there. I added a pic of sunset Sunday night cuz on Monday we packed everything up. It has to be hauled in as little wind as possible, so Monday was the last day in Topsail :-( I dread seeing the damage.

My girls checked in on a live video earlier from Myrtle Beach. Heavy wind, light rain, but no flooding and they still have power.

I was just wondering about your girls earlier, and hoping you were going to check in. Glad they are doing OK so far.

Hopefully, your friend can evacuate safely and nothing untoward happens to their home.

I will - no idea if he has flood insurance and his last message was that he may lose everything :(
He's probably going to stay with family or friends on higher ground in the state. And he's a single guy but has a girlfriend.

We've been friends for 3 years now and do volunteer work for the same cause which is important and very meaningful to us.

Now I just feel restless...

Oh.My.God.

Now Bladen County residents are being told to remain at home - which is where my friend presently is - too much flooding and too many downed trees in the roads.

But an early Saturday report from the National Hurricane Center had it crawling west at two miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour.
