Hurricane Florence - September 2018

came in a little late to the news story

dont know where this is

a man hole cover blew off - they had video of what can best be described as a full sink drain in a circular manner

the implications IMO are enormous

the stuff they are gonna have to sinkholes roads caving water sytems breaking and who knows what else is down there rats

it would then seem it all would totally fill up and start lifting up other ones what a mess

they are very worried about all the chicken and pig farms as it relates to illness

propane tank seen floating around

awful just awful

My house was fine since it was on higher ground. We did lose the backdoor oning. It was a small metal one. Mainly we got fallen limbs and a lot of debris. At my grandmother's house she had a window leak in a upstairs bedroom and a gutter piece that flew off.

I suppose in the grand scheme of things, you all survived quite well. Thank goodness. Per your other post, please do be extra alert and careful if you attempt to drive to work tomorrow. Thanks for the great updates.

The little baby makes me so sad. Thankful his little body was found. :(

aTYW.....the Today video above by isa.g is very good info for Wilmington.....it does show some scary road washouts....and flooded areas that seem to surround the community.
Oh my gosh! I am in shock about how close to home that is for me! It's surreal. I am not able to wrap my head around it quite yet. The neighborhood the reporter was standing in looks too familiar. I have an idea of where in town that is. I can't believe it's so close... We used to live near the Cape Fear river and I couldn't imagine. This storm happened so fast... I am truly grateful to be not be flooded. I feel for those families that are stranded by the flooding. What's even harder for me to bear is how many people that I may know who were effected by mass residential destruction... And the poor baby! I still have not processed it since it is absolutely devastating :'(

Thank you Spellbound! My manager let me know to call if I feel uneasy getting there. My mom had to do just that earlier. I can not mentally process the poor little baby :'( it is absolutely devastating!

As the Florence floodwaters rose, he contemplated taking his life. Then rescuers came.

Paul Pinter was trapped. A river of jet black water rushed down the narrow road that used to be his street. The water was rising fast, rushing into his home.

At first, Pinter thought he was safe because his trailer sits about 6 feet off the ground, which has been enough of a defense during past floods. But this time, when Florence brought water into his front door, he realized it was too late to leave. He was trapped with his dogs, Buster and Oreo.

They were running out of time. Pinter considered taking their lives, then his own.

Any updates from Rose in SC?
(Vicinity of Florence SC)

Or Tabirey with two daughters in MB area?

Hope all is well with everyone.

The sun has come out in Charlotte. :)

Oh good the sun finally DID reach the Carolinas!

Kept sending positive energy in that direction, and we had two days with no rain at all - time to share the sun! LOL

I saw that video, the roof torn off that auto parts store - SCARY! - and people driving in that weather? I'd be scared my car would get swooped up off the ground, and smashed.

My very first tornado I was in...I was six years old. We were driving to my Grandma’s home 200 miles away. We were on the turnpike and couldn’t get an exit in time. A tornado hit, we pulled beside an overhead bridge. My mom and dad got us five kids, holding the youngest. We climbed up the steep underneath and hid in those little cubby holes until it blew over. We all made it safely. The car did not. Thank God for the Red Cross. We never did get to Grandma’s house.

No, I’m proud to say I live in the capital of Tornado Alley ~ Moore, Oklahoma. Always have. It’s just that Florence is being such a b****. I don’t trust her.

I hear you. Florence has been devastating. It's so difficult to see the images and hear the news. My heart goes out to all affected. This is going to be a long recovery.

My step-brother works for a water district in North Carolina -- and talked The Powers That Be into releasing water from their main reservoir last week!

That's one dam that won't be overtopped!
