What is so ironic is the myth about Katrina --she was not that bad a girl!! Cat 3 at landfall.

The Army Corp of engineers and corruption flooded New Orleans not Katrina!!

Court: Army Corps of Engineers liable for Katrina flooding - CNN.com

Right now I'm listening to "Sippiana Hericane" LP by Dr. John at Youtube.

Seems appropriate right now...

I was concerned about rapid intensification . Media is going overboard IMO

barely a cat 1 Is not a "major hurricane " (cat three is described that way

media does this often

I haven't seen a drop of rain or a gust of wind today. I'm certainly not complaining! Although I did take my little boy for a bike ride, thinking we would have that pre-storm breeze that is the only good part of hurricanes. But nope. Just 93 degree hotness.

Gordon: Child killed after tree falls on Pensacola mobile home

Authorities have confirmed one child was killed after a tree fell on a mobile home in the 4000 block of West Bobe Street as strong winds and heavy rain from Tropical Storm Gordon swept through the Panhandle.

Resident Amanda Ray said there was a crack and a scream as the tree limb came down around 9 p.m. It was almost indecipherable from the howling winds, she said, but she realized soon after it was a person screaming.

"It was just awful," she said.

Glad to here this !

I was not complaining either! but there is an issue when they do this

calling all the nat emergency stuff is political but it is life threatening

people get hurricane fatigue and then dont evac when they really ought to

the saffir simpson scale was designed for a reason !

It gets viewers but it also is cry wolf -- their job is to keep the public informed

glad it is over for you guys

The child is a tragedy of course

40K without power

i am going to call that one that is gnawing at me off africa - the boogie man

the boogie man continues to grow

Florence? You're not the only one. She has me concerned. Our local weather man gave a 30% chance it won't turn away from the states.

ETA link to Florence's thread.

Wow. Its definitely heading toward the east coast. Unless it makes a turn, the east coast could be in for a wallup.
