:happydance: Are you bragging or complaining? LOL

That is funny!! I was here watching Houston go away-- that would be complaining right!!

The least Harvy could have done was landfall on Monday - people would miss work and then be able to have the weekend to deal with their mess

Cajun Navy en route to Houston to assist in search and rescue

Over a year after taking action during the August 2016 flood in southeast Louisiana, the Cajun Navy is en route to help their neighbors to the west in Houston, Texas.

According to the Southeast Louisiana Storm Spotters Facebook page, Houston area officials gave the Cajun's the green light to come in and assist with search and rescue efforts.

ah from Katrina I always remember there being a rescue person being pulled up with the victim

Could have been handsome ha@

Just saw one they are solo victims ugh you know those games where you try to move a crane ( loved em as a kid) and try to grab a little toy

that is what it looked like

Me too...hobby. Thanks for your advice. I agree. Have been in 3 hurricanes and I'm quite paranoid now. I feel so bad for all....This will be one of the most difficult times of their lives that they will never forget. :tears::tears:

I've been through probably a couple of dozen. I live on North Carolina coast, lived in New Orleans, Mississippi, East coast and Gulf coast of Florida and SC and Charleston. Can be quite traumatizing. Learned a lot over the years. :scared: Plus I've always had an interest.

mayor on why order to evacuate was not issued:

The mayor, who was elected in 2015, stood by his decision not to issue an evacuation order for Houston because, while the city anticipated a lot of rain, Houston was not in Harvey’s direct path.
He said that because of the flooding, every neighborhood would have to be evacuated, which is "dangerous."
"You cannot put in the city of Houston 2.3 million people on the road -- that is dangerous," Turner said. "When you combine Houston and Harris county, you literally cannot put 6.5 million people on the road."
Turner said the best place for people is to be in their homes.
Hurricane Harvey -- which weakened to a tropical storm by Saturday afternoon -- has led to record levels of rainfall in the Houston area and has so far left three dead.

Mayor Sylvester Turner made the wise and prudent decision NOT to ask residents of Houston to evacuate. Hurricane Rita proved our roads and freeways could not manage that many cars trying to get out of town. That was a disaster, and people died in the evacuation. On a normal day it takes me 45 minutes to get to work which is on the way out of town. The day before Rita, in sunny skies, it took me 5 hours to drive the same distance and I ended up driving on the wrong side of the road to get there. I work in a community for adults with intellectual disabilities and I was part of the essential staff who had to be there. Mayor Turner did the right thing in this case, and IMHO Governor Abbott was wrong to encourage people to leave.

I am confident insurers are not going to need pictures or battle a claim!

Unfortunately they do and they will. They are, after all, insurance companies.

This group, United Policy Holders, is an non-profit advocacy group for insurance policy holders. There is a fountain of valuable advice on their pages. Their "Homeowner's Inventory Guide" under Resources is absolutely wonderful in assisting a loss victim in inventorying their loss. It goes room by room and lists EVERYTHING one might have had in their home. Down to cotton balls and Q-tips in the bathroom. It downloads into an Excel format and can be printed out and then used as a check list.

http://www.uphelp.org/ This is the main page

http://www.uphelp.org/pubs/samples-damage-and-proof-loss-documentation This page has lots of good info about how to handle a loss and about half way down are clickable links to the blank Home Inventory Worksheet and also to one that was filled in by a homeowner so people can see an example.

Anyone who has any type of an insurance loss would be well advised to bookmark these pages.

Good luck this week...I'm in Charleston and hoping the tropical storm doesn't spin up. Expecting heavy rain but not like Texas.

I saw a woman being interviewed today who said that's why she didn't evacuate. She had to choose between get stuck and flooded out on the roads or stuck and flooded out at home.
