im in central texas, 20 miles west of Ft Hood and we are expecting some 2 inches of rain some winds thats about it. prayers going way down to the coastal towns/ btw, just checked and seems as harvey been upgraded to a cat. 4

FOR THOSE WATCHING THE WEATHER CHANNEL- Jim Cantore is broadcasting from in front of the Omni hotel on the bayfront - and yeah, its blowing like that but he is bringing the drama ... and its always windy on the seawall

the media, especially TWC, are always saying this hurricane is a doomsday catatratopic storm. watch them with a grain of salt. yes, storm is big, but the media is almost always dramatizing every storm.

hurricane force winds will impact the corpus core and north - again rockport aransas seadrift will have the eyewall cross over them with very serious implications. Based on latest info my area will experience tropical storm winds - downtown, bayfront, the island, NAS Corpus Christi will receive hurricane force winds - current power outages impacting 40,000 so far that will get worse. Anticipated landfall at 8-8:30 pm

Blowy and wet here - our worst will come from water later. We don't play with water.

There numbers and cats are from the planes in the sky in the storm

one of those things they drop out of the plane went thro a wind gust of 1 mph higher than a cat 3

now they are cat 4

the barametric pressure has dropped 2 in the last 4.5 hours

the last cycle was 4 hours and a 5 pt drop

Category 4 Hurricane Harvey's Landfall Imminent; Catastrophic Rainfall Flood Threat; Strongest Texas Coastal Bend Landfall in at Least 47 Years

Harvey is now a Category 4 hurricane off the coast of Texas and continues to strengthen.

It is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane tonight along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Harvey will then stall or meander for several days, leading to a threat of catastrophic flooding in parts of Texas.

Dangerous storm-surge flooding, damaging winds and a couple tornadoes are also threats.

Hurricane, tropical storm and storm surge warnings have been issued for parts of Texas.

based on the size of the eye and the rotation, the surf will push up in the areas north of Corpus - the actual bay of Corpus Christi proper will experience the outflow - (circle your finger counter clockwise when you pas "12" going to "9" you have inflow, when you pass "9" going to "6" you have outflow - the surf will pile up north and push out south of the eyewall - that's why where I am is experiencing a much lesser event than our poor beautiful friends in Rockport on up
