That thing is monstrous. Fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Stay safe everyone. If you're reading and haven't done so yet, please check in and let us know you're OK.

CARIIS - I am plugged in - charged locked and loaded - we will lose it at some point, but as I said, we are just far enough inland and south that we will not see the worst of it - I still have AC!

So, when I Google "Hurricane Harvey," this "SOS Alert" comes up at the top of the page. When I click on it, it brings up a shareable link.

I've never seen anything like it before.

As I see this monster growing my heart is in my throat for all who are affected. The eye is very uniformed and tight now. I hope the MB don't continue to drop. Now its at a creep going 7-8 miles an hour toward land. I wouldn't be surprised before it reaches landfall it is a Cat-5.

But in hurricanes it isn't so much about the hurricane winds itself but the tremendous amount of flooding it causes. More people lose their lives in the aftermath due to the high flooding.

In 1994 when Alberta hovered over our area it produced 29 inches of rain in a very short period of time, and they said Harvey could drop as much as 4 and a half feet by next week. Many of the weather experts have said they have never seen a storm quite like this one.

We had hundreds of caskets floating in the Flint River and many of the people were never identified before they were reburied. We lost around 65 people due to the 500 year flood caused by Alberto because many foolishly went into water with their vehicles and some were killed when one of the bridges collapsed in another county close by. The water at that time was extremely high running as fast as water over a dam with its gates fully opened. The flood water separated/split the county of Dougherty, and it was over 6 weeks before the water receded enough off of the bridge which connected one side of the city to the other side. We were fortunate and only lost power for 5 days but it was so hot since it happened in July. We did lose our side business and all of the inventory.

I hate to see those who live right on the water yet refuse to leave. I wish they would all heed the warning to get out. No property is worth anyone ever losing their lives over.

Please be safe and I am continuing to pray for all involved.

Ever since our dear Glen Campbell passed away, I've been sporadically humming a few notes from "Galveston".
Now I'm praying......

More than 20,000 people are stuck on cruise ships because of Hurricane Harvey http://bit.ly/2wFVnnM

I sure would hate to be stuck on a cruise ship at this time...
