How is everyone there?

CARIIS - that's H-town on a normal day! Give them a hurricane and it's going to break very bad (and they still have a great number of folks who fled Katrina, and stayed) Houston traffic is a nightmare BUT the sit basically in two (or more) Bayous - basically tidal basins - when we discussed bugging out the one place we would NOT go was Houston, or San Antonio for that matter. We fled Gilbert in 1988, went to San Antonio and were more at risk from the tornados that spawned from it had we stayed home (for this storm we might have gone to Laredo or Del Rio). Now, it's still early and I am sure our worst is yet to come, but I do have a friend who went to Houston (her kids are there) so god bless 'em and I hope they are making good decisions.

Ever since our dear Glen Campbell passed away, I've been sporadically humming a few notes from "Galveston".
Now I'm praying......

Howdy and Welcome! :seeya: This is a chat room, just a slower version maybe. Do you have relatives in Texas or Louisiana?

HI MIss Taste of HOney

Hello there, dear Cariis.
Yes, I agree with you that us in FL would have been out of dodge by now! I hope the wonderful peeps near Corpus Christi hi-tail it to higher ground asap!

I pray this storm doesn't get to a Cat 5......apocalyptic

I don't (although spent time making work in New Orleans last year) but storms interest me. The fallout from a Katrina was devastating. I never feel like the news tells me what is happening as much as those in the area. Hope you are safe!!

Right now it's the calm before the storm! BFMD is having more action right now! My mother lives in a trailer, so I fear those tornadoes that spin-off from the hurricane later. Storms are fascinating! It's hard to look away for sure!

oh Boots! That would suck!https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-96.6/centery:25.4/zoom:7 here is a link to live ship traffic - you can see ships all over the world - I'm dialed into my port but ugh - a cruise ship - even a nice one right now???? Oh no!

TY for sharing this really cool link to boat traffic! And to everyone sharing local stations, and ominous weather links. Glad you are still here BFMD, and glad we can hang with you too. Hugs.

I feel like these storms always make land fall at night. Also, our snow storms always seem to hit peak at night as well. Makes it very hard to watch.

... things are picking up here - bands coming in and getting stronger - we are, amazingly, still up - north of us is in the poo poo - again if i go dark it's because I lost comms It's also dark now after sunset so it's scarier - but the lights are on, internet is up and we are feed and safe Many of the structures you are seeing on the news are those I might expect to see impacted by a big wind event - and we get those on the regular. So far in Corpus Christi we have damage, but if you are of a mind our dear, dear neighbors in Rockport Aransas and Seadrift and north all need your prayers.
