is there anyone in houston in here?

Jim standing no tech problems

He is the only one that they are going to live basically

Sandell i like to o

no rain nothing

I'm in the Houston area, that's typical traffic, it hasn't rained hard here (at least in my area) just bands passing through and dropping some now and again, and a few gusts. If the forecast is right it'll get much worse but expect to see plenty of cars trapped in high water here, it's axiomatic, never fails during big storms, just can't get people off the roads.

I had a friend who got caught on a cruise ship in a hurricane. It was her first cruise and she was so excited. She had been shopping for weeks for the right bathing suit, the right cruise clothes, etc.

She said it was so bad that they had huge green garbage barrels out all over the place and that two and three people would be puking into a barrel at once. Also that a huge number of the crew were also seasick - so they knew it had to be really bad if even the crew were sick.

Praying that everyone's OK and stays OK! I'm thinking about y'all. :grouphug:

Right now it's the calm before the storm! BFMD is having more action right now! My mother lives in a trailer, so I fear those tornadoes that spin-off from the hurricane later. Storms are fascinating! It's hard to look away for sure!

Oh boy! That would be me too! :puke: Has she taken a cruise since that experience?

I cannot find how many minutes before landfall... Looking... googling.... nada...

https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/hurricane-harvey-forecast-gulf-coast-texas-louisiana

It is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane tonight along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Harvey will then stall or meander for several days, leading to a threat of catastrophic flooding in parts of Texas.

Hurricane Harvey has rapidly intensified and is now a Category 4 hurricane, with landfall just hours away east of Corpus Christi. However, the eyewall – the location of the strongest winds – is moving onshore near Rockport, Texas, and a wind gust of 116 mph has already been reported near Port Aransas.

Harvey is about to be the nation's first major (Category 3 or stronger) hurricane landfall in almost 12 years tonight, a multi-day soaking of the Texas Gulf Coast with catastrophic flooding and destructive winds through this weekend that could leave parts of the area uninhabitable for an extended period of time.

Ugh, I read this and was like, wait...am I friends with AlwaysShocked??! LOL I had the exact same experience. I was still a fairly young kid at the same so I don't remember ever being scared or nervous, just really bummed because the ocean was so turbulent and the weather was so bad that the pools never opened and virtually all activities were cancelled.

The eye wall of Hurricane Harvey, a Category 4 storm with 130-mph sustained winds, has begun to move onshore along the middle Texas coast, the National Hurricane Center says. The eye wall is the most dangerous part of the storm.
[Previous story, published at 8:50 p.m. ET]

The time for dire warnings, how Hurricane Harvey is life-threatening and could cause catastrophic damage, is almost over.

The reality is the Category 4 storm has begun to pound the Texas coast and its millions of residents, with hurricane-force winds knocking down trees, power poles and signs, and with torrential rain deluging streets.

The storm surge, downpours and harsh winds are already pummeling the shores.

The National Hurricane Center warns that some areas will see as much as 13 feet of storm surge and large, destructive waves. Maximum sustained wind speeds were at 130 mph Friday night.

And there's the rain that the slow-moving storm is expected to produce. Because it is expected to come to a near halt inland, Harvey could drop as much as 40 inches of rain in some places, and up to 30 inches in others, by Wednesday.

... things are picking up here - bands coming in and getting stronger - we are, amazingly, still up - north of us is in the poo poo - again if i go dark it's because I lost comms It's also dark now after sunset so it's scarier - but the lights are on, internet is up and we are feed and safe Many of the structures you are seeing on the news are those I might expect to see impacted by a big wind event - and we get those on the regular. So far in Corpus Christi we have damage, but if you are of a mind our dear, dear neighbors in Rockport Aransas and Seadrift and north all need your prayers.

Yes,it is so scary when it gets dark in these storms - I remember way back in '72 I think it was Hurricane Agnes (?), huge destructive storm, came up the east coast and we were up half the night but at the break of dawn there was this circular light all around the horizon - it was like the edge of the world and yet so beautiful at the same time.

We are lucky to be in times where they have the amazing weather data,

Stay safe and know we are with you and many prayers to all in coastal TX right now...
