I had a friend who got caught on a cruise ship in a hurricane. It was her first cruise and she was so excited. She had been shopping for weeks for the right bathing suit, the right cruise clothes, etc.

She said it was so bad that they had huge green garbage barrels out all over the place and that two and three people would be puking into a barrel at once. Also that a huge number of the crew were also seasick - so they knew it had to be really bad if even the crew were sick.

My daughter and her husband and their 4yo daughter was on a cruise near the Bahamas- Sep 30, 2015 -(( Hurricane Joaquin had been upgraded to a Category 3 storm — clocking 115- mph winds as it approached the Bahamas)) terrible frightening night for me wondering if they were ok.

I have to head to bed here, but I may pop in if I can't sleep, or first thing in the morning. sending good vibes to you BFMD, and Bootsctr, and anyone else in or close to the worst of this storm. Be safe and be smart.

I am so terrified for all of you ... this is sounding so bad from the reports I keep reading. I am torn between sleep (can barely stay awake) and wanting to be here, "beside you". If you lose power, BFMD, and aren't here by morning (or any of you that I know might be affected), I know I am going to be bonkers waiting to hear anything from ou. Lordy, the attachments we make here. It is crazy, like a real family should be. Love you all, my dear peeps.

Hello from Southern Louisiana....! I wondered if you might be on the same line as any important buildings....like a hospital. That saved me in 1965. However I did make ice runs for the whole family.
They brought their ice trays (lol) and my brother made rounds on his bike. It was the hurricane that
taught me that snakes swim.

Snakes swim?!?!? Unfortunately already know about that - in fact a couple like to swim in my pool just for giggles ( though they are checkered garter snakes so a little too friendly but not dangerous) But we get snakes, and with the river rising (about half a mile north, just down my road), we we will probably have a meet and greet shortly - lots of rattle snake dog stories, so far not mine... Blowy here, getting bigger ... I'm about to hunker down for the night, but so far so good - I may be back on tonite, but if not I will see y'all tomorrow or when I get comms back. We're good! Keep us (and all the folks in harms way) in your thoughts and prayers...

... things are picking up here - bands coming in and getting stronger - we are, amazingly, still up - north of us is in the poo poo - again if i go dark it's because I lost comms It's also dark now after sunset so it's scarier - but the lights are on, internet is up and we are feed and safe Many of the structures you are seeing on the news are those I might expect to see impacted by a big wind event - and we get those on the regular. So far in Corpus Christi we have damage, but if you are of a mind our dear, dear neighbors in Rockport Aransas and Seadrift and north all need your prayers.

Prayers for your safety. My cousin, retired from the Air Force lives in San Antonio.

SA is one of our favorite places - a hop skip from here and always a great time

How is everyone doing??

Glad to see people checking in. I pray everyone on the coast is Ok.
From what I understand San Antonio is expected to get some pretty strong winds and flooding but nothing like the coast. My friend and I are hunkered down with a full tank of gas in the and a decent amount of supplies. Please, if possible, keep checking in.

Thanks to CARIIS and everyone for the weather updates. Keep 'em coming.
Love to you all,

Tricia
