A 3.1 is teensy-tiny... even less than an 18-wheeler rumbling down the street. Most folk probably weren't even aware. :)

We've had bigger than that in the English Midlands.

Big my dear\\

Where are you from?

YOur writing is a hoot! "Bonked" cracks me up -- there have been others too

bonked !!

It also sounds like a funny word for drunk

This side of the Pond, bonk basically has two meanings - to hit over the head or to have sex.

! If we added drunk into the choices we could accurately say I was so bonked last night that I got bonked!!!!

Thank you Spellbound! I finally spoke to her. Their roof had a leak and they were working on that. They are in their 70's and have no business doing that but they are both hard headed. On top of that one of my aunts had called her and told her about a tornado headed her way. Lucky for her it turned. Still worried and appreciate all the news you can find. Another aunt's home has flooded in Pasadena.

If anyone is in need of tension reduction. I am laughing cuz this is so overwhelming. I just got off the phone with my 82 yr. old Mother In Law. Her questions followed by my answers.
1. Do we need to be ready for flooding. No we live in SW Ontario.
2. Are Susan and Dana on the path vacationing in Nova Scotia. No
3. Are u sure we are not going to have the floods. Yes and remember we do have a boat.
4. If we do have a flood what do I do with Abby (dog). We will rescue her too.
5. I wish i knew how to swim. Too late now.
6. I am going to refill my pills just in case. OK.
Me- I will be over shortly to keep u company, shut off the tv and enjoy the nice day we are blessed to have.

Body found in Wal Mart parking lot

Local 13

I did not realize this is the 4th largest city in the country

1950 biggest storm ever 50 inches

Great Appalachian Storm of November 1950was a large extratropical cyclone which moved through the Eastern United States, causing significant winds, heavy rains east of the Appalachians, and blizzard conditions along the western slopes of the mountain chain. Hurricane-force winds, peaking at 110 miles per hour (180 km/h) in Concord, New Hampshire and 160 miles per hour (260 km/h) in the New England highlands, disrupted power to 1,000,000 customers during the event. In all, the storm impacted 22 states, killing 353, injuring over 160, and creating US$66.7 million in damage (1950 dollars).[SUP][2][/SUP] At the time, U.S. insurance companies paid more money out to their policy holders for damage resulting from this cyclone than for any other previous storm or hurricane. The cyclone is also one of only twenty-six storms to rank as a Category 5 on the Regional Snowfall Index.[SUP][3]

I live in southwest Houston and for now I am good. There is water in my street but not my house and I still have power. My daughter lives 5 blocks from me and lost power last night so she & her husband and dogs are hunkering down with us. The flooding here is epic and widespread. The closer you are to one of our many bayous the greater the risk of having water in your home. We are about a mile from Buffalo Bayou and those right next to it have flooded, but we are OK so far. So many are not as fortunate. So far the fatalities have been low, but any is too many. I was hoping and praying the predictions were off, but they were not. It is truly catastrophically historic. I believe we are clearing for the rest of the day but more rain is coming in the days ahead. God bless Houston and all those in Texas suffering through this!
