They were just boating thru a neighborhood... one that they had recently been in before because of flooding. All the houses empty d/t flooding except one. When that house rebuilt the living levels are high above ground. It is brick from the ground up to where I think the steps go into the house. The water was many feet below his porch.

The guy came to the window and said he had no water inside his home. This is an expensive looking neighborhood, all those people need to rebuild that way as it sounded like they flood easily there.

The second release is going yesterday they said they would do it this afternoon - they have moved that up

here is presser:

both started at 100 am increase in release as day goes

barker reducing liklihood of water going around the actual da

first home hit 4 am other dam house impact noon

wroking with flood control

dams built in 1940 built to 1000 year flood

all enter buffulo bayou

better to do this than overflow dam itself

5.1 billion in damages prevented from tax day flood by doing this

water going in past any records

water will go over the resv

will be full 1-3 months after event ends

flooding in the areas around will be enduring

They are afraid this mess will impact the shipping lanes and downtown Houston

 My heart breaks for those affected by flooding from the effects of Hurricane Harvey. We live on the coast and am still displaced by the flooding caused by Superstorm Sandy almost 5 years ago.

We are (FINALLY!!) in the process of having our home raised 9 feet and hoping and praying we move back in sometime next year. Between the city bureaucracy, government red tape, variances, permits, contractor issues, price gouging, and many others, I am here if anyone needs any help navigating FEMA and homeowners and/or flood insurance issues. I'm not gonna lie, it's going to be a long, long road to reach some sort of normalcy again.

:praying:

I followed Orville dam intently - it was actually fascinating how they do flood control - just fascinating!

That being said- this story is so far from over. Its really like our circulation system - all are arteries veins and capillaries are
connected.

gonna be checking these folks out

More rain this morning but lighter than it has been, I've seen two areas (on TV news) of neighborhood/streets taking on water from the Addicks release, that'll only get worse as they increase the amount of release, but so far it hasn't reached here. Fingers crossed it won't be any worse than the tax day flood release.

Thanks for all the good wishes and thoughts everyone, you're keeping me in good spirits. :)
