I'm watching this video and realized that I stayed in this hotel over New Years about 15 years ago. It was in the same canal as the original African Queen boat.

The Latest: Florida refuge for unique deer in path of Irma

A Florida Keys refuge for a unique subspecies of deer is in the crosshairs of Hurricane Irma.

The Florida Key Deer Refuge on Big Pine Key is about 10 miles from where the storm made landfall Sunday morning."

Since they are on the eastern coast, I'm sure they are fine. But a my Fort Lauderdale relatives probably lost power and we've now lost touch. They been locked inside behind storm shutters for days, so it's always dark. I just feel bad for them.
