This disgusts me. They ought to be shot on sight. Absolutely disgusting. :furious:

.........okay, that makes sense. They do have that annoying little habit, don't they? Thanks for clearing that up for me.BarnGoddess said:I believe it may have been a reaction to a post about the President being on vacation when the poster thought he should have been in the White House at the time of the storm. The two mentioned seem to pop up and take charge whenever they can.

We can only hope that they will be weighed down, with all of the loot they stole, and will end up being floaters. Sorry about this harsh thought, but I don't have any sympathy for the looters. It's one thing to take food to feed your family, but that isn't what 99,9% of them are doing.Jules said:This disgusts me. They ought to be shot on sight. Absolutely disgusting. :furious:

Where did they all come from? Where were they during the storm? Were they let out of the Superdome?
When it gets out of hand and endangers the lives of the rescuers, it's time to put the order out, that looters will be shot on sight.

He said it was so dangerous and is urging the President to send in the military. One of his ambulances were turned over by looters. He is afraid for his employees and the patients they are trying to get out of there.
Some of the Army helicopters are too heavy and can't land on top of some
the hospitals. The streets are not safe...........

I agree, We need the military NOW, not later.
I've seen it too many times here to believe we're immune. It does make ya angry though. I'm with Buzz ... let 'em sink with their beloved bounty.heavenlydaze said:The looting is infuriating. It feels like were all being raped. Its also embarrassing to me as an American. Ill admit that when Ive watched tragedies like this in other countries and seen people stealing, Ive felt kind smug. Yes...smug. Thinking that Americans would NEVER act like this. Reality check in progress.
I stayed away from this topic yesterday because some people got so touchy about the talk about the looters when people were needing to be rescued. They felt we should not be concerned about the looting after all people need food no matter how they get it. Well I have been watching the video coming in from NO since this started and what I see makes me sick. The pain and suffering, people who have lost everything. But, the worst in people is also showing. I understand that the food is going to go bad, probably has by now. In a situation like this people have to do things they normally would not do to survive. I am referring to taking food from stores which obviously are closed. I am sure I would do the same if I were in their posistion. I also know that I would leave a note to the owner and would repay them when possible to do so. People taking food is not what upsets me. People taking, jewelry, TV's, stereo's and the like is NOT acceptable. I saw one lady kick in the glass door of a video store. I don't think videos are necessary for survival. This is not right people and no amount of justifying it will make it right. What about the owners of the businesses? How would you feel if it were your business? Wouldn't you hope to be able to salvage something? What Katrina didn't take from these poor people the criminals are. Yes, they are criminals, looting is a crime. It is theft.Buzzm1 said:We can only hope that they will be weighed down, with all of the loot they stole, and will end up being floaters. It's the scale that gets to me - this seems worse than I've seen in other similar disasters. It's disgusting! I don't know if it's because so many are below the poverty line there - or is it the opposite - criminals are often below the poverty line and maybe they make up a lot of the poor in that city - or their theft and stealing from the businesses that might try to give jobs in that city makes more people there poor.Ntegrity said:I've seen it too many times here to believe we're immune.
