no, and I have wondered about Geevee and BFMD, but now must add Bootsctr. how did I miss that so much time has passed since she last visited (9/3)?

Geevee has been posting in Zach Adams' thread. Last post today' previous post saying she is in a motel, flooded out by Harvey: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...-Sept-18-2017-graphic&p=13636172#post13636172

BFMD's last post was 8/27; she last visited WS on 8/28. ??? Wonder what's up with her.... ?

For the rest of my life, I have learned so much from you :tyou: and I will always remember a high Trumps a low ( analogous to playing bridge and playing Spades card games ;-) )
Your welcome. Glad I could help. [emoji38]

"Models confident on a bend north parallel to the US mainland in the short-term. Some starting to show the possibility of a little bend west NC north. Jose has churned up the waters... so some of the heat potential might have been lost and help weaken Maria as she moves along. Going to be close to the east coast either way it appears. Tonight she is trying to gain back her eye... and looks to be passing just north of DR/Haiti. Could be a close skirt for the Turks/Caicos Islands. SE Bahamas watching. Florida you can take down your shutters. But don't forget the Caribbean fires up in October.*www.spaghettimodels.com*/ Mikes Weather Page APP"

My Cousins were in the middle of purchasing their new home in a gated community in PR. I'm worried about them. They are super savvy and have sailed around the world more than once. The reports are that PR is in ruin.

ABC News correspondents observed widespread destruction in the town of Guaynabo, about 10 miles south of San Juan.

Trees and power lines were downed, and storefronts and building facades had crumbled. Neighborhoods in Guaynabo were filled with waist-deep floodwaters and destroyed homes that were clearly not built to any kind of code.

A Guaynabo resident who huddled in a bathroom with her family of six said told ABC News, "The winds took my home."

Felix Delgado Montalvo, the mayor of Catano, some 7 miles southwest of San Juan, told ABC News on Wednesday there are hundreds of people in shelters and over 1,000 homes were damaged or destroyed in the communities of Juana Matos, La Puntilla and Puente Blanco. Most of the homes are flooded and are missing roofs or have collapsed walls, he said.

About 80 percent of residences in the Juana Matos community were destroyed from storm surge and flooding. Homes there are filled with at least 3 to 4 feet of water, according to Montalvo.

The areas closest to the eye were hit worst. Do you know how close they were to San Juan?

How will FEMA help PR? I hope they have had Navy ships not far away to zoom on in with relief supplies. I hope.

how helpless you just feel. Newer construction seems to sturdier now, but that is no guarantee it is livable. What a nightmare they are going through (are they there now?). Please keep us updated as to their progress if you are shoe. '

geevee posted on the Harvey thread last night. It was the water for. The Addick's reservoir that ruined her home. And no flood insurance to help with the repairs. Sad --- but grateful she will be OK.

unimaginealy horrible. :tears:

Flooding will remain a concern long after the hurricane has passed, officials say.
“This is just the beginning,” Gov. Rossello said in an interview with El Nuevo Dia, the largest daily newspaper in Puerto Rico. “We know there are severe damages along different rivers and reservoirs, and water has overflowed from riverbanks, causing flooding,” he added.
San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz said that half the city is flooded.
"We’re looking at 4 to 6 months without electricity,” she said.
-
"There are supplies that are literally out to sea right now that are not being brought in,” FEMA spokesman Don Caetano told Politico by phone from St. Croix on Monday. “Had Maria not been a factor, those supplies would have been there already.”

Hurricane Maria Live Updates: Puerto Rico Loses Power and Sets a Curfew
Electricity was knocked out across all of the island, a spokeswoman for the Puerto Rico State Agency for Emergency and Disaster Management said, and officials said it could take months to fully restore power.

The authorities warned weary residents not to let down their guard, because flash flooding and mudslides could prove more deadly than the initial winds from the storm.

“This is just the beginning,” Mr. Rosselló said in an interview with El Nuevo Dia, the largest daily newspaper in Puerto Rico. “We know there are severe damages along different rivers and reservoirs, and water has overflowed from riverbanks, causing flooding,” he added.

Carlos Anselmi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Puerto Rico, said there had been “record-breaking” amounts of rain, with as much as 35 inches expected in some places.

Utility poles had snapped like twigs, blocking what seemed like all the roads that weren’t flooded; metal gates that once enclosed affluent neighborhoods were crumpled beyond recognition; gas station pumps were tipped over like domino tiles. Entire houses had disappeared.
“This looks like a different country,” ....

Communications were largely out across the United States Virgin Islands on Wednesday, and its government was assessing the damage, ...

[h=3]San Juan mayor speaks of pain and devastation[/h]
Carmen Yulin Cruz, the Mayor of San Juan, broke down in tears as she spoke at a shelter.

She said: "Many parts of San Juan are completely flooded. Our life as we know it has changed. There is a lot of pain and a lot of devastation."

The island's governor, Ricardo Rossello, said the only fatality immediately reported was a man struck by a piece of lumber hurled by high winds.

The streets of Puerto Rico's historic Old Town in the capital, San Juan, were strewn with broken balconies, air conditioning units, shattered lamp posts, fallen power lines and dead birds. Few trees escaped unscathed.

A student in Puetro Rico used her house as a refuge for 90 birds displaced by Hurricane Maria as it ripped through the country, causing immense damage to habitats and homes.

Coming here first this morning to see if our Angel has checked in. sounds like there will be lack of communication in many areas for some time perhaps., so :praying:

I remember going to Puerto Rico, and was shocked to see, in the Hills, there were so many lean toos (is that the correct terminology) and Shacks . I hope all those people are safe but I can't imagine that those could withstand more than a little gust of wind.

"Looks like 'ol Jose will indeed be the big player in Maria heading north. Models overnight show he is sticking around long enough to open the door for her possible recurve (two lows attract). Just a few ensembles have her bounce west. Still an outside chance... but chances decreasing each model run. Currently Maria is back to major hurricane just skirting north DR with the big stuff. May skirt to the north of Turks/Caicos too. Will keep watching. Further strengthening possible as her eye has enlarged and structure remains intact. The damage coming in from PR is heartbreaking. Thoughts and prayers to all those effected.*www.spaghettimodels.com*/ Mikes Weather Page APP"
