On another note...

I've been marveling that an abductor would take two children in the middle of the day at a location that is 36 seconds (.2 miles - according to Google) from a police station but now I realize it's actually a fire station there on the corner of Gilbert.

I guess that wouldn't be such a deterrent. :sheesh:

Crazy that I can spend hour upon hour going over this case and have a basic fact like that all mixed up.

ARGH! Is a father supposed to watch his child? Or pretend his child doesn't exist so he doesn't get accused of trying to kidnap her? And how as an unsuspecting person nearby are you supposed to know if it's his kid or not? Do we need to come out w/mobile DNA tests? It sucks! Sorry... obviously, recent posts hit a nerve... I fear for my brother who's a single Dad, not by choice but life happens. My brother's such a great Dad yet I know people stare at him hard when he's out with my niece in public. I'm GLAD people are attentive but it also makes me mad he can't take his kid to the park without being scrutinized. It's just difficult all the way around. Sorry, I'm venting ... I hope that's ok here every so often.

So much frustration today. I was really hoping we were breaking the case with this white van last night.

Where could these little girls be?!

The white van is significant to me.

It tells me that LE are looking for a white van.

They have eliminated this one...they are narrowing the field.

They will know exactly what vehicles were on the road that day. If they singled out a white van, then I think we can safely assume that that is what they think was used to take the girls.

Mind you, every rock spider and his dog drives one, it seems....

My husband says he doesn't usually feel comfortable unless I am there. It's a pity, because he really is great with babies and kids....I like kids but babies.....not so much.

I grew up in Philly and my mom loves to talk to kids (she is a teacher). People in Philly always responded nicely.

One time we were visiting relatives in NYC and we were in a drugstore in Brooklyn. This darling little girl was standing in a aisle by herself and my mom said something to her about her beautiful dress. The girl ignored her and the mom came whipping around the corner, grabbed her child, gave my evil other a glare and hefted her kid up and ran out of the store.
I cracked up. I called her Kidnapper Syd for years after that.

Respectfully BBM

Now, that's a native New Yorker [not a transplant].

Cinder soot...we're YOU in a white van? It kinda looks like it from where the pic was taken. Maybe he was watching YOU watch him!!!

I know the pic is bad, but when I got back to my vehicle I snapped it with my phone, didn't want to look suspicious.

My husband feels the same glares and judgmental looks. He hates having to take our daughter to the bathroom when he is out with her.

Most communication is non verbal.

You can tell when a man is a parent/caregiver to the kids he's with. It's all in the body language.

Alert folks also KNOW when they're looking at something that is not quite right. I think your brother will be safe in public with his own kids, just like every other man.

It is the unusual that makes people look twice. Like the man standing watching unrelated kids in a hot tub.

Creepy. Even the child felt it.

My girls, 8 & 10, never just throw their bikes down, they put the kick stand up. The boys in the neighborhood just jump off and let the bike lay and off they go.
The girls they play with also use the kick stand... Just a thought.

You have good kids. :) I can't remember the last time I saw a kid use a kickstand after I was about 8.

NO! He never looked at us, never. I thought that was wierd, he just smoked his cig, and drank his huge pop. Looked like he was checking his cell also.

A lot of men these days, including grandfathers, are not allowed to see their children and grandchildren due to custodial issues or are having them kept from them...i.e. the Powells went through this in the most horrible way. I can imagine some of these men watching children more than might be considered normal, thinking of their own. It doesn't always have to be sinister. My dad used to watch kids in his later years, and he would compare them to us at their age, or my sister's kids who lived far away and he seldom saw etc...I am sure some people thought he must be a pervert. It is a shame.

His plate identified him as an RSO or she thinks he's an RSO?
