when the six points came out the first time around we also had the same time re-visit.

None of the times make sense at all.

No matter how much you look at who said what at what time... it is like the ever evolving time line.

I am confident, however, that LE has a timeline. :moo:

finding the children should always outweigh le's desire to potentially arrest and prosecute :twocents:

Of course it should and rightfully so.. I didn't mean that... what I was responding to was why LE does not release all their case details to the public. That could also damage finding the girls as well to release all of their information.:twocents:

I am certain I would never speak to the media if I were a witness, after reading some of the fall out.

Oh I would. If your innocent, then so what.

BROUSSEAU: Absolutely. Absolutely. I feel in my heart that there are a lot of pedophiles that live in that area. Myers Lake is not a very large lake. It has the bike trail that runs around it.

When my mother and I, the grandmother who was babysitting, when my mother and I went on our search for them, and this was at about a quarter to 3 -- and keep in mind the last they were seen was at 11:30 a.m., when they told mom they were going on the bike ride. So that is the last time they were for sure seen. And now, it`s going on to -- it`s getting close to being a quarter to 3.

We stop at Meyers Lake. I said, "Mom, drive me to Meyer Lake." I had Elizabeth`s older brother who`s 12, K with us. And I just jumped out and started asking random strangers, "Have you seen two little girls?" Gave them the description, the colors of the bikes, and possibly what they were wearing.

And one man stepped forward and said, "Yes, I seen them going east on the bike trail at about 2:30." Now, whether he`s telling the truth or not, they do have this man`s name. You know, I don`t know. Whether he`s a person of interest, I don`t know.

But the girls` bike did trail around and ended up on the south side of the lake by the interstate, which would be 380, I-380.

BROUSSEAU: I did not find them. As I was saying, a man, who I approached and started asking questions, said he had seen the girls going east on the bike trail. It`s a small lake. It wraps around on the south side of the lake.

With my sister Heather, the mother of Elizabeth Collins, the 8-year- old, she called the police at 2 p.m. By 3 p.m., Evansdale police were there, and the deputies from Waterloo were all swarming the place. They went on -- they drove their vehicles right onto the bike trail. We watched them go to the site. They found the bicycles. They contacted us and said, "We have -- we have the bicycles. We have Elizabeth`s purse and no girls."

He says He seen the Girls... :waitasec:

I wouldn't. Innocence aside, I would not want to expose myself and my family to the type of scrutiny that takes place in the media when someone is witness in a missing children's case. We all know what I'm talking about, so there's no need to go into that IMO.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't talk to LE. That would be my duty, and I would not hesitate to report anything I'd seen or heard to them. But as far as I am concerned, no one else would have the right to know other than law enforcement. JMO.

TAMMY RUSSO, AUNT OF MISSING GIRLS: Absolutely not. There was nothing that seemed terribly out of the ordinary. There was a little boy fishing, and he had been there a long time. I asked him as well, when I first approached and started asking random people. I said, "Did you see two little girls on a bicycle? He said "No". I said, "How long have you been here?" He said, "A long time."

So when I told you a man said that he had seen them going east on the bike trial, whether that was true or not, yes, they have his name, they know who he is. But it appears what he said was true because like I said the lake wraps around and the bikes were found on the south side. And that`s where the girls --

I think this man Has spoken to LE and they have all his info and he has not spoken to the press, which in my opinion is good.

BROUSSEAU: But what I`m saying is, so I -- after the tape came down, I went back in that area and I started doing my own investigation, and looking around and seeing what I could see. And I could so feel that somebody had come down here, had been watching the girls for quite some time -- whether it even started as they left Heather and Mom`s place -- they`d been following them and watching them, seen them come down here.

They know the area very well, watched the girls go around the lake. He knew how to access the back because he seen them heading down there. You know, maybe they were down there, you know, standing on those rocks, tossing them in the water, as kids do.

Anyway -- and it was a very hot, lazy Friday. There wasn`t many people out. I kind of looked around to see because after where the bikes were dropped on the bike trail, there`s about 400 yards of forest, and then that grassy area where I`m telling you that somebody could easily access the bike trail from, park their car along that grassy forest and got out and had a knife or whatever it was, and said to the girls, you know, Get in this vehicle right now or it`s over with for you.

And I could so see that -- that, you know, happening because, you know, where -- where are the girls, you know?

let's move along peeps... TOS 101 is attack the post and not the poster.. and also to not be snarky.

i didn't think you meant prosecution outweighs finding the girls - i was jumping off your post. During many investigations I get the feeling LE is protecting the potential arrest/conviction in lieu of finding whoever is missing.

My personal Opinion,
If LE Believe the Girls to be alive,

They maybe holding information back so that they stay alive and the abductor doesn't get spooked and do something horrible to the girls to make a fast get away.

  • #694
TB says "where the bikes were dropped on the bike trail". I'm assuming she knows, because she was there with LE and got the lowdown. MOO

Well, there was a definite sighting of the bikes by a person who pinpointed the time. We have a direct quote from the FBI on that (see the link in my last post). The only question is if the FBI agent mistakenly said runner when it was really a biker. I thought that at first, but now I am fairly sure that there is a verified sighting of the bikes at 2PM, so I do tend to think it was really a runner that saw them and that she did not just misspeak.

BBM I think this is so far beyond unlikely, I've never even considered it possible. Even if they did mis-speak so long ago, I can't imagine them not clarifying what they meant by now. If they're asking for every little thing to be called in but can't tell a biker from a runner that's a serious problem.

I do still wonder where the 2:00 on some of the missing posters came from. Maybe a runner who went to LE but not the media.

A successful case (and eventual..:please: prosecution) always outweighs public desire to know.

Yes, that and the witness' right to privacy. If it were me, I'd come forward to LE but no way would I consider going to the media unless LE thought it would be helpful, and asked me to. No way.

ETA: oops sorry, I posted this before catching all the way up. Given some of the additional comments I wanted to clarify. I absolutely think finding the girls is their top priority. If they can't, or if the unthinkable has happened, I want them to be able to prosecute whoever needs to be prosecuted. However, unless it's helpful to the case, I don't think there's anything gained by a witness coming forward to the media and having every little detail of their life potentially scrutinized. All IMO. I don't wish to attack anyone or be snarky and I hope I'm coming across the way I mean to. I know we all have the same goal. Find these beautiful little girls.

On the Black Hawk Sheriff's office site, right under the poster with the 2 pm time is the following statement:

Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook were last seen at approximately 12:15pm on Friday July 13th in Evansdale. If you have ANY information about the whereabouts of these two girls please contact authorities immediately or call 911.

Anyone would think LE believes accuracy of the timeline to be relatively unimportant...or not important enough to confirm.

[Following is a copy of the email of Sept. 6, 2012 provided by C. Paulson, Asst. Director of IA DCI, to press and state employees. Foxbluff]

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is requesting that you take a few minutes to read this request for help in finding our two missing Iowa girls - it could make all the difference in the world.

To view the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website poster, click on the link below: http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/PubCaseSearchServlet?act=viewPoster&caseNum=1198725&orgPrefix=NCMC&searchLang=en_US

On Friday, July 13, 2012, Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook went for a bike ride in their hometown of Evansdale, Iowa, a small town that borders the eastern side of Waterloo, Iowa. The girls were seen riding their bikes at 12:30 p.m. that day. At approximately 2:00 p.m., their bikes were found near a gate on the trail that goes around Meyers Lake. Elizabeth and Lyric are still missing.

This, to me, sounds like there is a confirmed sighting of the bikes at 2 PM. Jmo.
