If the girls didn't make it to the lake than Mr. Carpenter, Ted Gamerdinger and scent dogs are all wrong.

Oops! I'd been using my phone, what a pain! Sorry!
No I don't feel the girl's made it to the lake. My feeling is the scent dogs picked up the girl's scent from their bikes and Elizabeth's purse. If the girl's had ridden around the lake wouldn't the dogs have been able to follow their trail around it and not in just the localized area they did "hit"upon?[/quote]

And, additionally, dogs might have picked up on the girls' scent which might have "fallen" from the perp bringing the bikes in, due to him having perhaps "manhandled" the girls during the, IMO, earlier abduction.

Excellent point. I am almost certain they went to the lake...with only about 10% of me still questioning it...due to the timeline. I do however think one thing is almost certain, which is the girls went quietly.

Be it by force, knocked out, or willingly...I can't believe that if they were kicking, screaming, etc. that SOMEONE wouldn't have heard them.

Wait...I take that back. :floorlaugh: We don't know that these fishermen/people didn't come forward to LE and say that they heard some screaming going on but were on the other side of the island (or wherever at the lake out of straight view) and assumed it was girls just being girls and didn't realize they needed help.

Like I've said...even if someone walked right up to them and led them away from the trail I don't know that I would have even paid attention if I was at a park. :(
Unless there was an obvious struggle that caught my attention even 2 screaming girls isn't something out of the ordinary at a park. BUT, there is "fun screaming" and "help me screaming" and I would hope someone could tell the difference...I would like to think I would...but then again I'm a mom. The majority of Moms and Dads can tell a "hurt cry" or "help me" cry from their own child or even a stranger's child.

Great...now you have me questioning my 10% belief of them not making it to the lake.:floorlaugh:

I personally can't lump them all together.

IMHO, the (2) men have been able to speak for themselves in the media whereas the dogs have NOT.

The only people, in my humble opinion, who could even begin to speak for the dogs are the handlers... and they have NOT told us anything...

Ohhh yes... campers taking bikes apart was most interesting back when that was posted. I have been trying to remember our poster's name and believe I have finally been able to do so.

While there's a lull here on current thread, and just for the heck of it, I'm going to try and backtrack to see if I can find that old post.

Btw, Ty for the local insight you provided up thread.

ETA: Here we go, I found it: Message #282

I wonder if he /she ever called that in? Probably didn't think it relevant at the tome. Maybe it's not.

Oh gads... that old who said what is all mixed up on my last post above. Grrrh...

Oh gosh... I recall that another poster asked that same question back when, but can't recall the exact response.

However, I did reread enough of the old postings today to see that subj poster (+ her bf who actually saw the campers taking bikes apart) both talked to LE abt camping there the night of July 13th.

Sooo I feel sure subj poster/bf did tell LE abt the bike thingy.

I believe it was posted on an earlier thread that tracking dogs follow from the oldest to the newest (freshest) scent. If the handlers started the dogs at the lake/bikes and if the dogs followed the girls scents, the dogs would go only in the direction that the girls went after they left their bikes. The dogs would not track where the girls rode on the bike trail, if they rode on the bike trail, from my understanding.

TG would not be wrong. He did not witness the girls there. Only their bikes.

And Mr. Carpenter would not be wrong. He never saw the girls at the lake, just possibly on his street. JMO.

I believe they did, and were questioned by LE.

But that's just the nature of eyewitness reports in a complex case. Some of them are going to be wrong or mistaken.

For cryin' out loud...we microchip our pets, but not our kids. And I'm not trying to start a big debate about the whole microchipping thing...but seriously how smart are we?!:waitasec:

Hi guys, I mostly lurk and read.
This comment got my attention for a few reasons.
@threecrazykids, do you really want to be chipped? I do not.
IIRC some one.... DM had an ankle bracelet with GPS attached.
Um, what happened to that? Just saying. :twocents:

Was this before the girls were abducted, or after he was put on supervised release?

I think BunnyHop is referring to when nobody could locate DM to inform him of finding the girls' bodies.

How did the bikes get to the SE tip of the lake at 12:20 when the girls were riding them near Brovan at the same time?

sigh. You tell me Otto? We all know there are issues with the timeline. I didn't create it. I don't have the answers I am afraid. Just lots and lots of questions.

ETA I was simply responding to Cindersoot and her assertion that if the girls were never at the lake then TG was wrong. But TG never witnessed the girls, just their bikes.

I wish we had a better, more concrete, makes sense timeline. But we just don't.
