LE did state early on that (Evansdale) RSOs were cleared. If an offender was living in Evansdale and was not registered, that person would not be a Registered Sex Offender in Evansdale. LE would have been unaware that a sex offender who was supposed to register with them was living in Evansdale so that person would not have been cleared as an RSO. LE's statement that the RSOs had been cleared would not have included anyone who was not required to register nor anyone who might be a sex offender but has not been caught. I've never gotten the feeling that anyone felt this case could not be a sexually-motivated crime based upoon some RSOs being cleared. Rather, I believe people may have eliminated the Registered SOs withinin Evansdale as being the perp.

I am not arguing that LE has probably spoken to and checked out every single SO who was registered in Evansdale. What I am saying is that people who keep throwing that fact out to dispute any and all theories which involve a predator or a SO being responsible do not take into account the facts you outline above. I have had posters debate my theory using that logic.

Her house was searched two or three times. She was also questioned. She was home with her two small children that day. It was very hot and they didn't venture outside. She said that LE hasn't been nice to her and her neighbors. They were accusatory. They asked why she didn't look out her windows that day as if there were something wrong with that. The neighborhood take on things early on was that LE was desperate for any info because they seem to have no directions to go in. Their questions didn't seem to specifically target anything. They were just very general.

People are talking about the case. I've heard strangers talking about it at the grocery store and while dining out. I hear rumors from friends and acquaintances often. Most of the stuff we were hearing before the bodies were discovered were that the girls had been trafficked and were overseas. Supposedly LE was right on their tail and they were going to be recovered any day. I've heard of local cops speaking about this. When there were announcements for the press conference on the day the bodies were found, we all assumed that LE had finally caught up with them in Europe.

I have a friend in high places that swears this is going to come down to Lyric's parents drug connections. I don't buy that but she does have connections.

Thank you soooo much! The checking and searching of her house more than one occasion almost makes me wonder if a witness saw the girls walking towards one of the houses at the lake! Didnt someone say there was an empty house or a house that could have a familial connection? Do you happen to know when these searches took place? The reason i ask is that if it was weeks or so after the abduction my guess is the sightings at the lake placed them leaving their bikes and maybe walked somewhere with the perp.

I am not certain when the searches took place. She and I only talked about it on one occasion. That was in mid-late August, so it had been before that. As much as I've wanted to pry into it further, I've left it alone as we don't see each other often. She didn't seem super eager to talk about it on the one occasion that we did. I think she probably gets asked about it so often that it becomes annoying.

How often do Parks and Recreation check Meyers Lake for coliforms and ecoli during extreme heat waves.

Was swimming ever prohibited at Meyers Lake due to unsafe water conditions, i.e. signage posted.

I want to point out that community interest in this case is still very much alive. I can't go anywhere without seeing dark pink ribbons & stickers with the girls on them. My hubby and I had a date night tonight. We went to the casino in Waterloo. The car parked next to us had an Elizabeth & Lyric bumper sticker on it's back window. I see references to them every single time I go out. If I had scanned every car in that parking lot tonight, there were bound to be more stickers & ribbons. The girls are still everywhere. People still care. People are still talking.

I just wanted to add that a newly convicted & required to register SO after the girls were found could also be of interest. The scariest of SO's are the ones that haven't been caught. A newly convicted child molester would be high on the list though to check out I would think. Or the alledged SO in the process of child molesting/sexual assault cases. The ones that slip through the cracks somedays and even possibly on the girl's case?

I worry that there's either a non matching DNA to anyone yet or there is no DNA that is worthy to prosecute anyone for. Common DNA that would be expected found. And the alibis given.

Welcome AshleyD. Glad you joined.

I've tried to go through Dan's current charges and I'm not seeing the charge of manufacturing meth as a charge. Possession of all of the drugs needed, there's also a a possession of lithium charge. That stuff is dangerous if not monitored. Not sure what's going on with the domestic violence charge against Misty either.

If you get a chance anyone, check out both please on Iowa Courts Online. tia

That entire sentence does not make sense!
BBM: "There's stuff of course we know that we don't divulge to the public because if we do catch somebody in this, and we're confident it's going to happen we hope, every tip needs to be followed up on and that's being done," said Rick Abben with the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.

Confident and hope do not belong in the same sentence.

Right! And he says they are withholding some info because why? He never explained the reason.

But they also sounded so confident the girls were alive.

The line to me in some of the statements, that stuck out the most, "we are pursuing every lead". Unless that's a standard statement, pursuing means you have not captured anything yet. So guessing here, but I don't think they have anyone that is in custody locally or in another state that they think did this to the girls. I do hope they have a least one person or several persons of interest that they are tracking.

I understand completely. I'm sure it's very trying for her. Thank you for the info you were able to provide, I appreciate it! :)

I'm wondering about the comment that it was very hot that day. Is 83 degrees considered a very hot day for Evansdale?

Regarding the trafficking theory, do you mean that investigators were openly discussing this theory as plausible? I was always under the impression that this was perhaps wishful thinking on behalf of the parents ... a way of keeping open the possibility that the children were alive.

Regarding the possibility that the perp has some connection to illegal drug addiction ... I'm wondering how someone in high places rationalizes the scrambled brain of a drug addict with the apparent well planned, and executed, abduction and murder of two children.

Yes, 83degrees is hot because of the humidity. It was very muggy that day. Especially since it rained on and off.

Looking at the dew point and humidity, it doesn't seem like the humidity was really anything unusual. Based on the temp and humidity, it looks like a regular summer day, no different than any other day in July except that it was 10-20 degrees cooler than most and the humidity was lower than normal. It looks like there was light rain until about 9 AM on July 13.

So what are you getting at?

So what are you getting at?

What I'm getting at is that according to historical weather records, 83 degrees was cooler than the average temperatures, it was cooler than the temperatures for the rest of them month and the humidity was not off the charts high.

It appears to have been a normal summer day in Evansdale ... cooler than normal temperatures, average humidity ... so I think that all the comments about it being such a hot day that no one would go outside are probably related to some other day in July ... like July 12, when it was 91 degrees, or July 6 when it was 100 degrees.

The humidity is what makes the day muggy, and so being inside in the air conditioning is so much better.

It's not clear to me, but are you insinuating that someone is lying about the heat?
