I'm starting to think that the girls bodies were found reduced to bones because I would think that someone would of noticed the smell of decomposition. I'm also starting to think that COD was gunshot, but not at 7 bridges elsewhere and moved. If they were killed by a gun I would think bullets would of been found and then they would know the make of the gun used.

I think we had talked about the whole "smell" factor before. In the woods, it's not at all uncommon to come across a "funk" while walking along. We have a family cabin and I can tell ya...even when it's a NASTY funk, I don't go off into the thick brush to see what it is. :( I just have always assumed it was deer, coon, fish, etc. that scavengers have gotten to and I don't need to see it to know something is dead. And I would have to guess that most people (if they are outdoorsy type people) won't go venturing into thorny, itchy, weedy underbrush to investigate, even if they DID smell something...and non outdoorsy people even less so.

Kids on the other hand will check out just about everything! :what:

Now I will probably be more apt to check out the smell...but before the girls, no way would you get me to go into the woods to check out a funk.

If the girls were shot and placed in an area known to hunters, I wonder if the intention was to make it look like a hunter shot them.

Maybe a hunter did shoot them. Maybe he used his hunting rifle. Maybe it's a common caliber for hunting and wouldn't be easily traced if lots of people use it for hunting.

I'm really hoping we find out how long the girls bodies were there, also a time of death. I realize if they died shortly after going missing it won't be so easy to nail down but if they were kept alive all this time maybe the killer did it during hunting season.

Ugh I just had a sick thought. I have often wondered if they were shot right where they were found but they were so far from the road. If it was a hunter maybe he turned them loose and waited till they got 50 yards out them shot them with his hunting rifle. His DNA would be on the girls but not on the scene, he could have just picked up his casings and got back in his truck and drove back home.

Ugh, I want this case solved. I want justice for these babies. :(

I agree that Heather seems to have found an inner peace that few people ever find. I wonder, considering her heart condition, and in an interview by EMT said that "she" was one of the lucky ones, if Heather has had a near-death experience. To me, it would explain her quickness to forgive and knows her daughter is not suffering. She seems frail to me and I don't think she can allow herself to get too emotional. Life is too short to spend it hating the world! It would seem from what we have heard and read about Elizabeth, she brought joy to a lot of people's lives. She was a happy soul! If Heather can take comfort and find peace in her daughter's sweet memory, more power to her. She is a stronger woman than I.

SBM from TCK's post: "What caught me off guard was I remember one particular interview where the interviewer asked her if she had anything to say to the person who had abducted the girls (this was before their bodies were found) and she immediately said "I forgive whoever did this, I am not judging you, and I just have faith in God that he will bring the girls home...and I know he will."

I hope the person who killed the girls heard Heather's words of forgiveness for those are words I am positive they will not hear from anyone else in this case. God forgive me, but I'm more of the mind of a "great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."

I agree that Heathers forgiveness might be her way of Keeping her health in check. I can't blame her, she has other kiddos that need her around.

If I hadn't followed this case, I would think she knew the killer and was telling them directly that she was forgiving them in hopes that they'd turn themselves in. Which makes me if others do think the perp is a family member and just aren't as concerned because of it.

I hear ya! I'm gonna have to check out any funky smells for sure now. Used to have a dog that would take great pleasure from rolling in anything DEAD or even the occasional cow patty! And, be so proud of herself.... thinking she was wearing something like Chanel #5 or something. Whew!

This image is from the Concert for the Angels facebook page. I have been trying to find the overall plan for the park renovation for a couple of weeks and all I can come up with is that there isn't an approved park plan, but there is an approved park renovation. This image further confirms my understanding that there is no plan

In reading comments under articles related to the renovation, it seems that there is a lot of controversy surrounding this renovation.

God bless him! There's not a tree in the county that is safe from him, I would imagine! To me, that's what helpless and angry looks like. It is sad there is controversy, it's obvious the man wants his daughter and niece's killer/killers brought to justice. I doubt he will have peace until the killer is caught and even that will not bring his beautiful daughter back, but perhaps some closure and strength in the knowledge that this person will not kill someone else's daughter.

Holy Moly! I just looked at the FB page. Drew and his crew and whomever have drastically changed the look of Meyer's Lake!!!

Why the road to the island? Did the girls make it to the island in a boat? Or was the island with trees obstructing the view from where the girls were taken?

Title of the pic is: Look at this! They got to go to the Island!

Were Lyric and Elizabeth lured to the lake by the promise of getting to go to the island?

Was the COD ever released? Do we know if the girls were shot? (I'm not trying to be snarky, just making sure I haven't missed a recent update)

No COD has been released. We've just been speculating on possible causes.

I just think the island is the only place to erect their project.

Umm...how is "There's not a tree in the county that is safe from him" a good thing? What does that have to do with getting justice for Elizabeth and Lyric?

I'm sure what she means is, he would take his pain out on the trees on the island because of his pain. It was a play on words.

I couldn't either but I think she lives her faith. It gives her peace that her child is with God.

I'm still not getting it. Because of his pain, the environment and Earth need to be affected negatively? Why not use his pain to find the killer, start up an organization, get a law passed, bring back the DP in Iowa, etc?

I would bet my life on the fact that I'm sure she didn't mean Drew should hurt the environment. I'm not being snarky, but your making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Physical activity probably gives Drew a way to release his frustration and emotions, and maybe gives him a sense of control. I imagine he is very frustrated and needs an outlet.

He is also working on other things, such as getting the DP reinstated in Iowa.

I understand why you have questions, but I also understand why chopping trees might be therapeutic to Drew. JMO
