I'm curious because it was quoted in the WCF Courier that this area was only used by fisherman, hunters and the occasional camper. It began to rain at 11am the day the first found the girls, could the second sheet be a campsite I wonder.

I would think it's very possible. The TV station's overhead photos don't show much -- they seem to be the standard tarp-like structures that LE uses to cover any kind of evidence site. I can't tell from the photo whether they're flat to the ground or raised like a tent, either. I'm guessing they're flat because they don't seem to be casting much shadow. But it's a cloudy day in the photo, so not many shadows anyway.

I gotta say, the way the narrow ends point to each other and the crew is standing in the middle suggests bodies and deliberate posing. But nothing has been officially confirmed.

No. 1: It helps to limit the false confessions. Crazy people seem to always come out in droves in a high profile case and confess to the crime to get attention. Don't ask me why people do this, they just do.
No. 2: When theyre questioning a suspect and that suspect mentions something that only the killer(s) would know... bingo! They have their perp!
This is very, very common in murder investigations. Sometimes they can find this out by talking to other people as well... someone might mention that so-and-so told them something, and it matches what LE has not made public. Often this can be the one lead that ties up the case.

Another factor is that the defense can use information that's released to argue that the jury pool has been prejudiced. This is especially true with bloody crimes or emotional ones -- and murder of two children would certainly qualify. Many LE and prosecutor's offices prefer to keep absolutely everything they can private in order not to jeopardize the prosecution.

Snip: The memorial is estimated to cost $100,000. First Security State Bank and the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa recently donated $10,000 toward the project.

Then you have the Concert event that said 100% of the proceeds was going towards this.... days later ooopsie we have overhead, once that is met then the rest goes towards the project.
smh

:what: GGA !! <omg simply wasn't strong enough to express my shock>

As we all know, L & E were related (first cousins), it isn't like it was one little girl AND a friend that lives down the street. And both L & E have siblings, but yet it seems not even the family is concerned about the other siblings' safety and/or their own safety. Has any of the other family members, (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc) made any statements, or had in any of their interviews anything pertaining to for example, we are scared for our safety, we are scared for our other childrens' safety, threre is a murderer out there etc?? If so, will somebody please refresh my memory on this, TIA. After all, these two girls were RELATED and in my OPINION, that in itself says that others in the family should be very fearful for their safety, I know I would be. But then again, I guess it's possible they know more than we do and for whatever reason there is no need to be fearful. It's so confusing...

IMO If $170,000 isn't enough to get someone to talk....then I don't think chatter around town is about who did it. If this had anything to do with drugs, there are people out there that will call in a tip for $1,000. Pathetic if ya ask me.

People who are dealing and taking drugs don't have a problem with ratting someone off as long as the cops stay away from them.

I agree with you, yet seeing it put into words is very chilling. JMO

I do not believe assumptions should be made based upon the location of the sheets at the discovery site. It is just as possible that one covers a part of a body (skull i.e.) that had been moved by animals and that LE did not want showing up in photos, as it would be recognized as such. I do not take it to mean that the bodies were left a certain distance from each other. And I certainly take nothing from Jon Lieberman as a fact.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. We don't know anything, and Lieberman probably doesn't have much better information than we do. He's just better at spinning it into a good story.

The sheets could also be covering other potential evidence -- a weapon, a bit of clothing, a campfire as was suggested earlier, etc. etc. etc. -- and have nothing to do with where the remains were found.

Has anyone made or came across a timeline with LE verified information? I think that could be very helpful to us here.

I believe they were found on Wednesday December 5, and sent that same day The caption is saying the scene was Just being examined on Thursday. At least I Think that is right. But I read it the way you did at first, then remembered they were found on December 5.
