Why are some of you having such a hard time believing that a perp could easily subdue two young girls? A knife, a gun, both easy to come by nowadays and would be extremely effective at getting two girls to cooperate without so much as a peep.
Wouldn't the logical choice have been to throw the purse in the lake if you thought there could be a phone in it?
and town is not in a PANIC?????
That is what I am leaning towards. Maybe to influence trial testimony? I think that is honestly the most hopeful scenario. If it was random, I don't think there will be a good outcome. I feel like le is being intentionally vague with the timeline and other details. It seems like they are trying to distract us from the details. Obviously they have to thououghly check the lake but it is also a good distraction from what else they are investigating. They repeatedly say they have no reason to think the girls are not in the area. . Why? I can think of a million reason's to think they are long gone from the area. Why aren't they firming the timeline up? I think they know way more and don't want an abductor to panic. Maybe I am being overly hopeful but that's moo.
I think that the perp had hold of Lyric and told Elizabeth to throw the purse over the fence.
If my theory is correct, then it doesn't matter if the cell phone was shorted out or not; the perp was planning to put both girls into a vehicle and be long gone by the time anyone noticed the purse.
All the perp wanted was to prevent a call to 911 that might bring LE immediately to the area (the police station isn't that far from Meyer's Lake; nothing in Evansdale is that far from anything else).
If my theory is correct, all the perp wanted was a 15 minute head start, more or less.
But if this was someone who was stalking Lyric, why not take her when she was alone? It is much more dangerous, IMO, to take two children. I know it has been done before, but it seems like Lyric was alone sometimes, IIRC. Wasn't she late in getting home not too long before they disappeared?
She was with a different cousin at that time. Why assume it was Lyric who was stalked, when this was Elizabeth's neighborhood? And why assume that there was stalking, when it really could have been a random act out of convenience?

:waitasec:Trying to catch up. Had terrible lightning storms yesterday. Has Lyric vanished before? With another cousin? Help, please. TIA
Cook-Morrissey said she'd be "more comfortable" with the theory that the girls might have been abducted "once they drain the lake and we find nothing there."
RBBM:waitasec: What?

Do you think somebody is holding them? Would that be a possibility? If so that would explain some of the language that LE is using - like no reason to believe there has been foul play, no reason to suspect the parents, etc.
The search for the two Cedar Valley youths comes not long after the seventh anniversary of the death of five-year-old Evelyn Miller of Floyd. Miller disappeared from her home and was missing for six days. She was found dead in the Cedar River. Her killer remains at large.
Smock prays for a different outcome for the local missing girls.
"We don't want people to panic. We're treating this as a disappearance, and we don't know why or how," he said.
The investigation is being conducted by the Evansdale police and fire departments. Abben said the cooperation between local, state and federal agencies has been phenomenal.
Sorry i have no idea if this break rules or not but this talk about the Meth and could it play a role in all this, i cant help but remember a case from back home. the girl's names were Ashley Freeman and Lauira Bible from Welch Oklahoma. Older girls but they are still missing. The parents were messed up in Meth and the whole family paid the price. Like everyone else i hope these girls are ok.
I do. Felt from the beginning they were alive. I think it's someone local and knows them. I don't think the the father is involved, but his "past" just might; especially with the cohorts having court dates around and on their disappearance. Is there a lake or an area near there with cabins.. for a second home or hunting/fishing purposes? Locals?
Trying to remember, but didn't Misty say she had to go somewhere with her sister that day, but didn't exactly say where or what. Her answer was vague and I thought it was something to hang on to. Could they have gone to court for some reason for one of the persons caught with Daniel? Anyone else remember that?
