Dan Morrissey and Misty Cook-Morrissey, Lyric’s parents, both have extensive criminal backgrounds and have been incarcerated numerous times during the past several years.http://www.desmoinesregister.com/ar...dyssey=tab|topnews|text|Frontpage&sf5151918=1

OMG. Both have been incarcerated numerous times during the past years. Misty had cotton mouth and frequent lip licking on her first JVM video.

I retract my previous statement about the cause of her lip licking. Ugh.

That's what I wondered and why I asked earlier about if meth would in any way alter drug test results. (still catching up so apologies if it's already been answered)
It, sadly, appears that you should wonder about mom's polygraph also.

The second one linked is a Pretty new campground that is just starting up near the newer watermark and casino. As far as I know, it's not heavily populated at this point and would involve the interstate to get near there."

Is that campground open? I know the land directly across from the casino/waterpark entrance was sold for a convenience store and eventual campground (My father is in real estate) but I wasn't sure that was operating yet?

I know of the larger operation that Grainne/Ollie (I'm sorry, I'm exhausted and lazy. ;) ) are speaking of. Typically they'll have nothing to do with the rinky dink in-home (small scale) meth labs. More than likely they're cooking for themselves and/or friends. A good friend of mine in Iowa City was on the Meth Task force for a long time (An actual meth-centered crime force for Johnson county and surrounding areas... how sad is that? Our small state needs one.) and a dear friend's husband is undercover in a sting closer to the Illinois boarder. They've both said that it is more typical for smaller cooking operations to be self sustaining, meaning that the people have the need, and not the bank roll to purchase, so they cook on their own. This leads me to think that, in my opinion, it wouldn't be a jilted drug deal leading to the disappearance of these young girls. I'm still with those that believe AN ABDUCTION was planned, not necessarily targeting Elizabeth and Lyric.

I hadn't heard it was open but I know the space was used for ragbri when they went through. It's not wooded or anything so I can't imagine wanting to camp there.

That's CRAZY????! I guess I don't know what to do with that.

My feelings are that if a credible person had a credible tip they would call the tip line instead of leaving a random comment on an article. JMO

yep, it always seems to be a white vehicle

Well once again...local news out of Memphis just reported that a white van had an occupant who tried to abduct a ten year old about 5:30 tonight. It actually happened in Cordova which is an area outside of Memphis.:banghead:

i feel rather CCity texas- ish tonight

I suggested that they were maybe not missing from the lake yesterday. I agree that unsuspecting vandals could have corrupted a crime scene unknowingly and could be hesitant to come forward now. Probably a pretty common occurrence. <snipped for space>

Easily - or not even vandals, just good citizens trying to pick the bikes up off the trail so others didn't hit them.

But if this was someone who was stalking Lyric, why not take her when she was alone? It is much more dangerous, IMO, to take two children. I know it has been done before, but it seems like Lyric was alone sometimes, IIRC. Wasn't she late in getting home not too long before they disappeared?

She wasn't alone at that time, either. She was with her cousin KB and they had just been playing too long.

From the location, if a stalker was involved (which I do not believe is likely), it would more probably have been Elizabeth, since this happened near Elizabeth's home.

I really believe that this was a crime of opportunity and neither girl was targeted. I think it was someone who knows the area. That doesn't narrow the suspect pool much, since the town is a suburb of Waterloo.

Someone made a comment on this news story that is odd. Should it be reported to LE?

http://abcnews.go.com/US/missing-io.../comments?type=story&id=16806825#.UAd6p2FSS_U

Yes... I would think LE should investigate the source of this comment. It does not have the feel of a random psychic to me... it is either valid, or someone with a vendetta against an old boyfriend/husband, or a complete nut job. An interview with "V", the poster, should prove useful in terms of what is going on. I hope LE knows about the comments????

"We have no reason to believe there was any foul play at this time," he said. "Everyone is suspect until we find something." (Adden)

http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Lake-landfill-searched-for-missing-Iowa-cousins-3716341.php#photo-3205231

No reason to believe there was any foul play means one of three things too me.

1) LE believes the girls died accidentally either as a result of their own activities ie. swimming where they shouldn't, exploring, etc. or

2) Something happened while in the care of a family member and there has been an elaborate, coordinated effort by those involved to cover things up.

3) The girls are being held by an unknown party for reasons yet to be determined.

His statement that "Everyone is a suspect until we find something" means (jmho) they have NOTHING conclusive arising from any polygraphs or forensics. I wonder if this also means that although family members have given alibis, LE is still considering them to be suspects - guilty until proven otherwise ?

Wylma Cook on Wednesday confirmed that Lyric had tried to run away from home several days before the cousins were reported missing. She said Lyric packed a bag after her father got mad at her for not completing her chores.

“She headed for the door, and I grabbed her,” Cook said. “She dropped the backpack and I hugged and kissed her and I said it’ll be OK.”

Wow...that pebble creates a whole new ripple effect!

I have no idea how many parents have told me this same story. It isn't an unusual scenario. She's ten, she got in trouble for not doing her chores, she got mad, packed something, and said she was running away. She didn't run away, though. As a matter of fact, she did this in front of her mother and more than likely knew that Mom would stop her. It sounds suspicious now because she is missing, but I doubt that the two incidents are linked. How many 10 year olds actually run away? In the incident of getting mad at her Dad because she was in trouble and showing typical little girl feelings of "It's not fair that I have to do chores so you'll be sorry because I'm going to leave," she packed something. In the second, Lyric went bike riding while at the Collins' home. Lyric took nothing with her. I don't think she was running away at all that Friday. Something unexpected happened that day and it was something bad.

Seems so very detailed. Username given, never posted previously on ABC news website. The person might not feel comfortable going directly to LE for various reasons. I'm on the fence on this one, but could be important.

That was my thought, way too detailed for the typical psychic. I'm wondering if they heard something from word of mouth but are afraid to go to LE directly?

Well, like most of these cases these days seems like, family secrets/lifestyles are coming out and making us go 'whaaatttt??' Poor Lyric. The white van makes as much sense as anything. These poor kids these days with the messed up lives because of their parents and the choices they make. Poor Grandma.

RE: the structure the slab that looked like it was built by someone who didn't know what they were doing - tweaker perhaps???? What that has to do with anything, I don't know. But I feel confident that these girls weren't beamed up to a spaceship. And that's about all I can say with certainty.

If they were delusional from meth usage when they took the polygraph it could alter the results. One would assume that LE would be able to identify a subject on meth
(pupils severely dilated, rapid speech, euphoria/altered mood, cotton mouth, lip licking) and someone who was delusional.

Thanks Pensfan. I figured they'd probably be able to see if someone wasn't totally "with it" but I wasn't sure if it'd change the results if they were really good at hiding it (or as someone said, coming down). I would hope if anything looked off at all they'd do a drug test.

I wish I had the transcript because I do not want to misquote her...but something to the fact that she did not want to know who they are that may of taken her daughter and niece...she said that several times in the interview

I would say that over and over if one of my loved ones had been abducted. I don't think anyone in my family is involved with drugs, either.

The reason I would say over and over that I didn't want to know who did it would be my attempt to reassure the perpetrator, to make it less likely that my loved ones would be killed as witnesses. I'd be trying to give the perpetrator the idea that there wouldn't be any trouble if they just released my loved ones alive.

Like Heather, I would also tell the perp they could drop the girls off anywhere safe and be able to get away.

I had to look at that three times before I found the comment and realized what you meant. It's hard to say, could be a kook and could be honest. Isn't it better to be safe than sorry and let LE decide how important it is? There's lots to be gained by locating that person. Only then can it be decided how to handle the comments.
The post was by Vonfucious, correct? They got a lot of reaction. It could be just kids screwing around, or even an abductor trying to lay a false trail. One never knows. And that's something else. Everyone is assuming if there's an abduction it was done by adults. Not necessarily so. There have been other cases where kids on bikes went missing and it was older kids that were involved.
