I have heard that it is mainly the FBI working on this case.

Can you tell us where you heard this? Would it be on the FBI website or such?

I have heard that it is mainly the FBI working on this case.

Here's the latest info I could find:

Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson said there are five full-time investigators still working on the investigation into the deaths of Evansdale cousins Lyric Cook-Morrissey, and Elizabeth Collins, KWWL reported.

He didn't mention anything about FBI. Do you recall where you heard that FBI is mainly working this case?

....I can't really. I was told in confidence ... I can say it is somebody that knows who is investigating what...

That's so good to hear. I had had the feeling that they were no longer involved, but that they came back when bodies were found and probably helped out w/knowing what tests to perform and the best labs to use, etc.

Can you tell us if FBI has steadily been active in case from beginning or if they stepped back in when bodies were found and are still helping from that point to now? TIA

I am not asking anyone to repeat a statement made in July, nor do I feel that a comment made several months ago is untrue.

But out of all the family members impacted by this horrible crime, I find it unusual that not one of has come forward to demand answers, or to indicate any dissatisfaction with how the investigation has gone to date. JMO

I am reminded of the Micky Shunick case which brought me to WS.
Her family was steadfast in their determination to find her killer.

They were never "hokey", they were always very sincere-you could see their emotions and integrity every day.

I am also reminded of Lauren Spierer, right here in my neck of the woods. A young co-worker came in one day to tell me that a girl he knew from HS went missing. He personally knows the family and was very upset, visibly shaken. 6' and 280 lbs., tears in his eyes.

To this day, her family is on the case.

Ty for finding that. I recalled reading the article at the time and was left w/the feeling that FBI was probably no longer involved. So glad to hear today that I was wrong.

otto, I fear you are deliberately misconstruing my post. I did not say anything about expecting or demanding the families to entertain the public in any way.

I simply feel that everyone in the family may not be as satisfied by what has taken place to date as Heather is. JMO. And if so, I wish that person/persons would speak up and demand some answers.

I would stay in the media's face, just as Tori's mom did. IIRC, she did a daily presser at 1:00 p.m. and only missed days here and there when she was not feeling well. Her estranged husband did some of these pressers with her. Looking back on it, I don't know where she got her strength to do it, but I respect and admire her for doing so. RIP angel Tori S. You have two new playmates and may they also RIP.

If that's true then I'm even more disappointed in the progress.

There is a FBI field office in Waterloo, and it is my understanding that there is at least one agent that has no other active cases other than this one.

What really get's to me is why the girl's were not buried togeather . It seem's it is easier to forgive a stranger who did this horrific crime than to forgive a sister . I feel the forgiving should be fair . I can't imagine how Wylma Cook is handeling this all God bless her soul missing her beloved Grand children . I worry about and pray for all the family's . I even pray daily for my Web /Sluether's who have been involved trying to figure this all out . God Bless each and every one of you. Thank you from my heart Three Crazy Kid's, and Cindersoot for the video's that was an emotional roller coaster for both of you. Pat yourselves on your back you both did a wonderful thing for all of us. RIP Lyric & Elizabeth.

Thanks Pat.
I was just going to make a post about my gratitude for the many well written comments by so many here. May you all be blessed. :rocker:

May we all stay strong and always "Keep the Faith".
Not being religious, I had an accountant years back that told me that every time we met. Now I say it to my business partner..........

"Keep the Faith". Every time we feel stress and concern, I tell her; "Keep the Faith". Faith is the opposite of fear IMO.

As a result, the good folks show up and support us. We "poof" the negitards. (Is that a word? :floorlaugh:)

Stay strong sleuthers and keep the faith. It's all I got.

Trying to start at the beginning.

When WC looked out the window and saw L and E in the Lederman's parking lot, was this before the (adjusted) time of the Cornbelt Auctions video or after the adjusted time?

Did this cctv capture them riding before they stopped and were standing with their bikes in the parking lot.

Could E have been at Meyers Lake alone that day before L and WC arrived at her home. What time did WC arrive at the Collins home on July 13th?

Did the dogs detect the scent of both of the girls at the water's edge or just one?

Thank you. If FBI is involved that means across state lines?
Yes? No?
Seriously, I do hope they're on it. :rocker:

I think this thread is full of thoughtful and intelligent posters, with very plausible theories!

Not sure or if local LE asked for assistance and requested they take over.

Also there is also DCI, I'm not sure, but I think that they are also pretty involved.

Well.... that's where it gets confusing, right at the beginnings with the times and all. I think. . . we started with Wilma last seeing the girls at 11:30. Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Then the cctv video was released and the official time of the girls last being seen was 12:15. I do not know if that is the adjusted time. Mr. P says clock was 8 minutes slow.

I am not sure if they were captured on cctv before or after standing with their bikes in the parking lot, but I am pretty sure it was after the fact, unless the camera captured them twice riding around in a circle??????

Yes, I definitely think Elizabeth could have been at Meyers Lake the day before L and WC, but that is :moo:.

I am not sure what time L and WC arrived at the Collins household. I would like confirmation on that as well.

I am under the impression that the dogs captured both girls' scents at the lake per Sandy Brault, the FBI spokesperson.

FBI dogs detect Iowa cousins' scents by lakePublished July 18, 2012
Associated Press

EVANSDALE, Iowa – The families of two missing Iowa cousins say their worry that the young girls might have been abducted is growing as a search of nearby lake winds down.

Authorities drained the lake Tuesday after FBI dogs detected the girls' scent near where their bicycles were found four days earlier.

FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault said the reaction from the dogs Monday night indicated a "strong possibility" the girls had been at the lake, less than a mile from their grandmother's house where they were last reported seen Friday. However, Breault said because there were no confirmed sightings at the lake, authorities couldn't be certain.

Chief Deputy Rick Abben of the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office said the case was still considered a missing persons investigation.

I don't think the FBI's involvement would indicate state lines were crossed. The FBI often gets involved when children are abducted, and I suppose they also investigate if an abducted child is found dead. JMO.
