It took me a long time to find it, but once you see her there's NO doubt about what you're seeing !! Lovely yard, btw, and I love the "dry rock wall."

Rock walls are historic here. They are protected. Part of the landscape.
Hence my broken heart about the destruction of the island.

This is me, in my kayak, on my lake, islands in the background.
I met an otter one day, hence my sadness.

I'd be interested in learning if any of our local posters plan to attend Lizzie's funeral.

By the way, I truly appreciate all of the maps and pictures that have helped me get a better understanding of Meyers Lake and 7 Bridges. Thanks, guys!

No I am not and quite a few of my other friends will not be attending either.

Well, if I can't get these videos converted off MP4 and onto something that I can upload we may meet up again! :)

If so, I'm going to take my Nikon for stills and also my flip camera to record the video again.

AND I told my husband if I go back I'm bringing a measuring tape and my dad's golf distance measurerthingy. :floorlaugh:

Not sure I'll get the distance measurer...but I will def be bringing a better camera and recording device!:seeya:

Hey, maybe ill meet you there!! Thinking about heading there this weekend. We shall see what the plans are. Oh, and my Canon poweshot takes pretty good videos.

View attachment 31763 Taken 4/7/2013 at seven bridges. the gate is behind me and I at first took the road to the left, when I should of gone right cause thats where the crime scene is.

So I take it that the crime scene is well marked?? Flowers and other memorials?? Did you take pictures?? Or is that on that stubborn video that wont upload??

I was thinking about attending the funeral.

It would be awesome to have a WS'er there - to represent us at least...we all genuinely and unreservedly grieve these two little girls. I would go if I was nearby.

The thought of peeking at the other mourners during proceedings would not even cross my mind... :websleuther:

bbm - Not sure how to ask this... if you had gone through the gate marked private property, could that have led to the body sites too?

Yes, you could. However, the way the road runs adjacent to the park, in reality you could walk to the body site from any point on the road (once you actually get to the park entrance...if that makes sense).

In reality, from the dead end (where the private gate is) would be a similar distance as walking from the turnabout...you're just entering a different way.

Okay, to answer some questions. The deer/lion creature thingy wasn't seen when I snapped the picture. I will say that as I was walking down there I spotted way up ahead of me a herd of it looked like deer running past. At least thats what I thought it was. The gate was locked at the front and down the road from that gate was another gate locked with signs all over it not to trespass and private property? That stumped me.

Cinder, could you please mark one of the existing overhead shots of seven bridges where the private gate is located? Jmo, but the dump site is east of the park border. :moo:

TIA :seeya:

Me too SS, I would be right here with my fellow sleuthers. :rocker:

Is this a good time to mention again that locals say the bodies were found on private land?

:truce:

I took video showing this...I just can't get the damn thing to an acceptable format to where I can link it!

But I promise you...100%...the bodies were NOT on private land. It is within the park's boundaries.

I don't make promises I can't keep. :) They were NOT on private property (Mould's tree farm or otherwise).

Pinky swear...if I can get the video uploaded you will see.:seeya:

bbm - Yes, I think most people find fountains soothing... the water is bright and light and sometimes sparkles in the sunlight... and then there's that "steady as a heartbeat" sound of water gently trickling down into water.

And just think of all the places such a memorial could have been placed w/out destroying property and without having to burden a small community "to keep giving until it hurts." imo

ITA w/your second (unbolded) para above, too. On top of all that I believe to be wrong w/the island memorial, how sad is it that currently the memory of two innocent little girls is being associated with a memorial which is upsetting and somewhat dividing a community!?!? ):
Agreeing with you, Fox...
Memorials belong in cemeteries. Playgrounds belong in parks. Jmo.

If the bodies were found on private land, then they weren't at the place where the two sheets could be seen from the TV news helicopter.

That pic is just beautiful. What a wonderful place you live.

We have dophins in our local "lakes" (ie, a working port) and they appear quite happy to exist alongside industry, pollution, and a generally poor environment...in fact they thrive and actually choose to live where they do.

An island would NEVER be allowed to be decimated like that here, mainly for the birdlife, but also the other aquatic animals that rely on the habitat. Our dolphins also have untouched mangroves where they breed and nurse unharrassed, which explains them thriving in such a seemingly unlikely place.

There is some debate about that. I tend to listen to the locals, who say whether the boundary is marked "private" or not, it actually is. I don't think there is a fence or anything.

I haven't seen actual footage from overhead, just stills, which are so up close they appear fairly indistinguishable from other parts of the river. Do you have a link to footage? That would put it to bed once and for all.

I would like to add my :twocents:, the bodies were not on private land. No way.

I live in NY "somewhat" upstate. I am blessed to live here. I am like a little fishy. I also paddled south in Florida among the mangroves.

I was fortunate to see 2 bald eagles. Saw bald eagles right here too.

I have paddled local rivers and white water, hiked the mountain trials.
My eyes are open. I have also swam with dolphins in Bahamas. I am blessed. I have little money, but I make the best of where I live, hence my sadness.
