So what if the girls saw a truck like this

parked at Maiden Lane. They thought it was Elizabeth's dad at first and they go running to the truck, but it isn't Elizabeth's dad. It's a stranger and he works for one of the above-mentioned tree/landscaping businesses. He has seen them before because when he's in Evansdale he eats lunch at Meyers Lake or whatever. He quickly subdues the girls and throws them in the back of the truck and heads back to 7-Bridges where the truck certainly would not seem out of place either. He takes one girl first and he takes her further into the woods because his adrenaline is pumped up. After he kills her, he goes back for the second girl, but doesn't rape her, just strangles her and carries her into the woods only not as far and then he heads his merry way back to the tree farm.

What is more important to LE between the time a crime is committed and an arrest?:

Figuring out who the perp is and getting the criminal behind bars, therefor ensuring public safety?
or
Protecting the investigation so it is "foolproof" and making sure there is no way for any evidence, witnesses etc., to be "compromised" and doing everything to ensure not only an arrest, but also conviction?

I hope I am explaining my question properly.

Basically I want to know what's the most critical for LE. Figuring out who did this and making an arrest (even though some evidence could be circumstantial, or may not be admitted in court for whatever reason) OR, is their main concern making sure that even though it may take more time, they'd keep things closer to the vest to make sure that even though it could take 5 years to get that arrest, they have every single piece of evidence fool proof to ensure a conviction?

Do they have info that they COULD release that would possibly lead them to the killer? Maybe that piece of evidence could possibly lead to something in court that could be thrown out on a technicality etc, that they aren't willing to compromise, even if it means taking longer to make the arrest.

I guess it depends...if you have a crazy serial killer going around harming many people in the community, I would think the focus would be on the safety of the community and apprehension of the criminal. If you had a random murderer, who seemed focused on harming a particular person, and you felt that it was an isolated crime or you knew who did it, but needed evidence to prosecute and convict, then I would think you would take your time and gather enough evidence to seal the case.

I would hope the answer would be figuring out who the perp is and getting him behind bars ASAP. Maybe even something as simple as an unpaid traffic fine to get the person in jail and maybe buy them some time in finding more evidence or even getting a confession or hoping they snitch on themselves while in jail.

Yes, I'd like to, too. Here we call them 'nurseries'. There are ones that sell to the public, landscapers, etc., and ones that raise evergreens only for replanting on harvested gov't land. Much of our pine forests here are dead and need replanting, because of the pine beetle invasion of the past few years. I wonder what kinds of trees this tree farm grows (grew)?

This local from Waterloo had to google to know about 7 bridges. After a few inquiries from people who HAD heard of 7 bridges, I was told it was a hangout for druggies and under-aged drinking. I've lived here for over 30 yrs btw and am not a recluse either. I take road trips on random Sunday's to various parks for lack of anything to do, and never heard of it until the girls were discovered.

Sorry to reply to my own post but I didn't really answer the original question. Of the parks I've visited in my 30+ years, the only park I've seen rangers at is George Wyth park.

My theory - LE know who did this and have done from the beginning.

That person is now in custody (for other crimes) so LE are taking their time building their case, which will also involve criminal charges against more than one other person, which is why it's all taking so long and being conducted so quietly.

well, my concern is the number of RSO surrounding 7-B ... there are a lot. Many are middle-aged men with victims that are females 0-13 yrs of age.
I am willing to bet there is double that amount if one is to also factor in those that have not been prosecuted. I even saw porn arrests in this proximity. Pedophiles have no feelings for their victims & their families; only their own selfish perversion. In most cases were they commit murder, the victim is strangled (no gunshot to hear) and the body is just tossed aside (not hidden or buried).
Oelwein is 20 miles east of 7-B, with 24 RSO. BBM. Is there a way to tell what nights the moon was full or close and cross check it against cloud cover sky? Maybe that will clue us into the when, assuming it was at night.

For reference I have played in similar dense woods with full moonlight and didn't need a flashlight to see... Especially since I was familiar with the woods.

If someone where driving a truck with a boat attached to that area, in the day light, would that seem strange to anyone? I know the river was low but are there some parts where a boat can be put in the water? Just imagining IF the perp killed them before he went to seven bridges, laying them down in the bottom of a boat and attaching the tarp over it, no one would suspect anything out of the ordinary. Just thinking of ways he could have transported them. IF he did do it at night time I think it would not be very convenient for him because of the darkness and the denseness of the woods.

The perp has links to 7 Bridges including forensic flora all over him/her if
he/she stops to think about it! If he stepped in the water there then there
are species specific diatoms on his shoes - and the list goes on...

But the perp chose 7 Bridges for some reason and has a link to it.

I keep thinking the perp(s) somehow "blended in" to the remote and secluded areas of the abduction site (Maiden Lane) and the final resting place (Seven Bridges). To not draw attention or be seen, heard, or considered suspicious in both locations and to remain elusive for this length causes me to feel like their presence would not have alarmed anyone or be considered abnormal or unexpected if they were seen. With reports of both locations being locked or protected by gates, someone would have had access to those areas and felt comfortable enough in the surroundings to not alert anyone to something being amiss. Who or what kind of person could this be?

This was either a well-planned and executed abduction or it was done by someone who had a reason or excuse for being in both locations, and felt very confident that they weren't going to be suspicious if noticed.
