Funny you mention that...I've questioned that on multiple occasions throughout this 10 months. What is more important in the investigation (during the initial 5 months of searching), building the rock solid case? OR releasing information (if they had any) that could have actually led them to the discovery of the girls?

LE in this case released nothing. Hunters happened upon the body, LE had nothing at all to do with it. It was sheer chance and a blessing from above that those hunters were there that day.

What's more important, building the rock solid case or actually giving up some evidence that could lead to tips?

Without a rock solid case they wouldn't be able to convict anyone for the crime and that individual would be free to strike again.

It also makes me wonder that IFhe is involved in our girls murder, that maybe he got rid of the vehicle he used then.

I read that his truck a toyota tundra had no license plates just a sticker. Now that tells me he didn't have that truck long.

Good catch Cinder!

A reporter just asked if the cases were connected to E&L and all he would say is right now the focus is on finding Kathlynn, after she's found they'll be devoting more resources to possible linkage.

I take that to mean they haven't ruled him out right away, so that ball is still up in the air.

Poor Kathlynn, I hope it doesn't take 5 months to find her.

bbm - hopefully, that answers the "burning question" I needed answered today. Ty.

Next time I have a burning question and limited time, hopefully I'll remember to check the media instead of this site. (:

Remember when we were talking and joking about wild hogs.

Yes, and I remember asking locals about hog farms on one of our very early threads. It feels a little creepy now.

The pigs. I remember I asked about feral hogs but mistermed them feral pigs. That is haunting me now in light of this possibility.

What I find amazing is this:

Still, Klunder’s name crossed his mind last July when he saw news coverage of the disappearance of Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrissey from Evansdale, Scranton said.

Then, Scranton took solace believing that Klunder was still incarcerated, he said. Collins and Cook-Morrissey were found dead Dec. 5, and investigators in the case are now following up to see if there is any evidence Klunder could have been involved.

Call me crazy, but if this guy's name immediately popped in his head, wouldn't you actually VERIFY this guy was still locked up? LE from BHC stated he was never looked into, so clearly no phone call was even made to say "hey...this case sounds strangely familiar to a case with a guy named Michael Klunder...you might want to check into the guy, last I knew he was still in the clink, but just to be safe at least check it out." If nothing but for peace of mind.

:banghead:

Where is this from?

two points:
look at Holly's map above...this guy gets around. Thank you Holly for putting this together, the area this crime was committed in is much larger than I envisioned.
Edale to 7 Bridges is not out of the question based on the map of the current crime.

Also, look at his charges on iowacourtsonline...there are additional domestic abuse charges that were filed against him as well. they were dismissed, but no idea why.
Plus in the articles it appears more charges as a juvenile per Edale LE that we do not even know about.
wow, I cannot believe he got out of prison.

They not only need to check the girls case, but any others from the time this guy got out of prison!
Wish we knew what his previous vehicle was; LE should let that be known to the public in my opinion to see if that jogs anyone's memory.

I am speaking from emotion right now, but after reading the details of this case I am absolutely enraged that this guy was even out and now look how many lives may be torn apart. I hope everyone who preaches rehab and forgiveness and early release for violent sexual predators with multiple offenses takes a good long, hard look at cases like these. I hope they go to sleep seeing Kathlynn's face.

Quote respectfully snipped by me.

I think you might be on to something. He worked for a hog confinement that was wean to finish. That means they raised baby pigs into adult pigs until they were ready to be sold and processed. They absolutely 100% would have had dealings with Tyson and any other pork processing plant.

I had wondered how close Tyson was to Evansdale. A person I was checking on was involved in a class action suit at the plant.

sorry, sick question...
remember when we all had the pig discussion way back?
can pigs eat a human being/other stuff at a hog confinement?
if so, no telling what else this guy possibly could have covered up or evidence he could have disposed of in the past.

Elk Run again. :pullhair:

I wonder if this guy knows either the Morrissey, Cook or Collins families.

SapphireSteel

Elk Run Heights has bothered me all the way through.

It appears significant.

Are there any locals who can give me an idea of why this would be? Is it a "kid magnet" type of place?

The reason I ask this is granma specifically mentioned it when describing where they had searched.

I read that it was found out later that he tryed to choke one of the three yr olds that he kidnapped.

Do you recall where you read this? I haven't seen it but I'm still getting caught up on this new guy/info.

Watching the story on the news, my husband said the same thing. Pigs will eat meat. Or whatever.
