IA IA - Jodi Huisentruit, 27, Anchorwoman, Mason City, 27 June 1995 #2

NOV 16, 2024
Ridge during a Saturday interview on “NewsNation Prime,” revealed that Huisentruit had begun dating an out-of-state man in the days leading up to her disappearance. The relationship, which began two Saturdays before she vanished, involved “almost daily contact” including dinner dates, golf outings, and drinks at the man’s residence.

Ridge also disclosed that John Vancise, long considered a person of interest in the case, is now “permanently incapacitated” and unable to aid in his own defense, effectively eliminating the possibility of his prosecution.

“It’s the first public activity in years,” former journalist Caroline Lowe told The Independent.

Lowe is part of the FindJodi team that is dedicated to the Jodi Huisentruit case.

“We look at what we can do as journalists, because we know what gets covered, and we’re diggers – we want to find out what happened to her,” Lowe said.

“It’s also in us to do what we can to keep her visible. She’s one of us. She’s part of our extended family. We owe it to her to help bring her home.”

''On October 8, 1994, eight months before Jodi’s disappearance, she had contacted the Mason City Police Department after she was followed by a small, white pick-up truck, according to FindJodi.com who obtained the report in 2020. It was the only time Jodi called the police for assistance.

But then on June 26, 1995, the day before Jodi disappeared, she was at the Mason City Chamber of Commerce golf tournament and allegedly told two members of her golf team that she planned to change her phone number the next day because she had been getting “nasty” and “naughty” calls.''

@WFLAJosh

There has been a flurry of activity in the #JodiHuisentruit case, but it's been overblown (as it often is). We received a tip related to #Winsted, MN decades ago. It didn't pan out then, it's not panning out now (at least at this point). We'll keep you updated at @findjodi on anthing new.

Here's our latest post: https://findjodi.com/update-winsted-minnesota-police-chief-says-no-human-remains-found-in-recent-search/

Case in point - this posted minutes ago. Not really 'chilling', just the reality of a long list of dead-ends. We're used to it. But I appreciate all the media outlets keeping Jodi's case in the public eye.

Another billboard is up! Eyeballs everywhere.

Jodi’s case is one of those where you just shake your head at how it is gone unsolved for so long. It was either a case of jealousy or stalker from TV. Having worked in the industry, those anchors/reporters deal with some crazies. it turns into resolution.

The Steve Ridge interview was very interesting. I think he thinks it was Vansice. The fact that she was dating a new person in the weeks before she went missing is new information right? He basically said he thought someone (Vansice) got jealous. Did Vansice haveca connection to Winsted?

No, it’s not completely new information I was able to google news articles from 2023 that mention this unnamed man she was with in the weeks before she disappeared. The information is hard to find because there’s lot of updates lately, but it’s out there.

ETA I would link to these but I don’t think they are websleuths allowed sources.

I’m incredibly interested by this new development, and the possibility that Jodi was seeing someone new in the weeks before her abduction. All of the old media outlets and Beth Bednar’s book fail to mention this— in fact, if anything, they refute the idea that Jodi was dating anyone seriously around that time. If this is true, then it would lend credence to the idea of JV being a suspect because of jealousy. My problem is this: if most people didn’t know Jodi wasn’t dating a new man, or at least it wasn’t common knowledge, how would Vansice know? Jodi was well aware of how he felt about her, and I have a difficult time believing that she would tell him that information. Also, the new information, and the time she supposedly spent with this man sounds identical to her time spent with Vansice. They attended the golf tournament, they watched videos together at his house, etc.; so we should focus, theoretically, between when she left his house and the time when she was abducted in the early morning. There was a neighbor who reported hearing a man pounding at her door in the early morning hours— but she seemingly left her apartment as she did normally, albeit a bit late. If the suspect was in her bedroom already, how could he be the man in the van? Did JV feel some kind of need to follow her later and see this man? Why was the unknown male upset, if you believe the witness? I have so many questions.

On Friday, the organization posted to its website that funds are critically low and outside support is needed to keep the search going. FindJodi is a 100% donation-funded non-profit organization, though it has relied on the funds of its own members in the past to cover expenses.

You can donate to FindJodi here.

On Saturday, Huisentruit’s family created a new Facebook page called Jodi’s Hope.
