CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Sentencing for the man convicted of killing a Marion woman this year has been moved to later this month.

McKinley Louisma was scheduled to be sentenced Friday for first degree murder and kidnapping in the February death of Melody Hoffman. However, prosecutors last month filed a motion for continuance to delay the proceeding because “registered victims” would not be in town the day sentencing had been scheduled for.

A Linn County Sheriff’s detective identified video surveillance of Louisma, Van Patten and Kimpton in Walmart earlier the night of Feb. 17 buying machetes and rubber gloves. Louisma was paying for the items, along with flavored water and cookies.

I noticed how beautiful she was in a picture. Those curls ,so amazing. I think the witness statement was a perfect description ,of the human she saw ,I wish she didnt have to see her with the monster marks.
