Detective Adam Paulsen, a sergeant with the Marion Police Department, testified about the forensic download of Melody Hoffman’s iPhone. He said that despite the phone being damaged and running a beta version of Apple’s operating system, investigators were able to retrieve information about its activity.

-- Surveillance video places accused murderer ML near a MH’s home the night she disappeared.
-- Video revealed day three of ML's trial on kidnapping and murder charges.

-- The jury was shown traffic camera footage that showed a car belonging to the defendant en route to MH's home.

-- Investigators say ML and MH had an “intimate relationship”.

-- MH's body found near Amana’s Lily Lake in February.

-- A detective said the driver of the car was wearing a shirt with the same logo on it as a shirt ML was wearing in surveillance video from a gas station he stopped at around that same time.

-- Other officers today testified where and when the cell phones belonging to ML and the other two suspects pinged that night.

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Hiawatha man accused of torturing and killing 20-year-old Melody Hoffman in February had a photo in his cellphone that showed her face with duct tape over her mouth, a bloody nose and apparently crying, a police investigator testified Thursday.

Marion Sgt. Thomas Peterson, continuing his testimony from Wednesday, said a piece of duct tape with strands of hair was found in the car trunk of McKinley Louisma, 23, who is on trial this week in Linn County District Court. The photo, shown to the jury, also appeared to have strands of hair stuck to the duct tape.

Additional social media data showed that in the days following Hoffman's death, Louisma visited Hoffman's mother's Facebook profile several times. However, he never checked Hoffman's Facebook profile in the following days.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Prosecutors presented stark physical and digital evidence Friday in the murder trial of McKinley Louisma, including blood-stained weapons and chilling online activities, as they continued building their case in the February killing of 20-year-old Melody Hoffman, including the fact that hechanged his Facebook cover photo to an image of Jason Voorhees, the fictional killer from the "Friday the 13th" franchise, just over a day before the alleged murder.
