Does anyone think that the past at least 2 weeks involved mainly figuring out how to get the perp to release MT? Maybe they have successfully negotiated the release terms and the PC is to announce that she is alive and well? A dramatic end to a puzzling case.
I do think Monday's presser will go on, as scheduled, if for no other reason than they have cancelled the last two.

I was not even familiar with fitbits until this case. My daughter jogs but she uses a phone app that counts her steps etc but not sure what it is and how she accesses it. It really is good to learn these things but honestly, most of the stuff marketed to younger people I would have no practical use for. My kids are always telling me to download this or that app to do this or that and it is basically all white noise to me. I make jewelry so if there is no app to help me make jewelry, it doesn't pertain to me ROFL
Last time I ran the NYC marathon, I got a pop up message on my Samsung Galaxy Note (which I had been carrying in a small fanny pack the whole way) congratulating me for taking 56,000 steps or something along those lines. Apparently Samsung Galaxy Notes have a Health App which tracks your "workouts". Who knew.

How did the perp get there?
Walked, a teen who lives local, hitched a ride into town, perhaps a drifter, perhaps came into town by bus or train, maybe a carnie, Maybe it wasn’t just one person? A relative in town visiting went into cornfields to do meth, heroin maybe smoke some weed. Who knows? It’s rural a small town people walk around.

BBM

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times now and am curious where you saw this, because the press release has the exact same wording as the prior press conferences (that updates will be provided regarding the investigative response).
???

Postponement of Friday's Press Conference

Oh geez, please don't make me wade back through Lord knows how many pages to find where I read that. I am certain I did, but just take it with a grain of salt if you need to, because I did my 6th day in a row at work today, and honestly don't think I have the energy to search for it now. Maybe someone else read that too, or if not, if a mod wants to delete my post, my feelings wont be hurt.

This is jmo. But is it possible the guy who saw her running last was told by LE that she went home to study after her run because they were setting him up to see what he would say? Or how he would react if he knew she really didn’t go anywhere after her run? I feel like he might have slipped saying he was the last one to see her. Idk, just a thought

For those who are more internet savvy, is there a way to see a twitter follower that may have closed her/his account? For instance if I have a twitter account and one of my followers deletes their account, are they deleted off my followers list? And is there any way to retrieve that info if they are? Something like wayback that might take screenshots on a more regular basis?

But in this scenario, doesn't the last ping of the cell phone point right to the general area where her body is? I don't think that the perp would be likely to be lurking without a car, but with a shovel. I can see not finding her when they're searching a huge general area, but I'd hope they'd have intensive searches in the general area of that 'last ping.'
*Wasn't the ping 10 miles from where started? This is beyond her running routine and would push her well into darkness on return and route to house would be an additions 10 miles or even to her moms as that was 1 mile away from the house she left, Right? Thus, it is unlikely that she ran to the Guernsey "ping" corn field and was abducted by a person lurking in the corn. MOO

A poster back a few days ago on this thread ran a test she actually posted 3 pictures with her sons standing in cornfields. You could not see them! I actually think that’s where her body is or buried somewhere in a shallow grave.
Other then having been abducted and taken to a further out location I think the corn field is exactly where her body will be found. It makes sense. They are apparently plentiful around there and no one would want to risk driving around with either a girl who is fighting against you or harmed in their car. Easy way to ditch someone sad to say.

They were just joking around because other press conferences have been cancelled. moo

The PC is still scheduled for Monday 3 pm, as far as we know.
I kind of got that feeling!

I don't use twitter anymore really but when I first opened my account years ago there was an app I guess you would call it that you followed that followed you back. It would then tell you who from your friends list had stopped following you. I'm thinking it was follow or unfollow bot was the name but I can't recall for sure what it was sorry.

....Snipped
I go back and forth between someone very close to Mollie, to the local introverted weirdo in town taking advantage of an opportunity. What are those guys called now...”Incels”? The “involutary celibates” who feel women owe them sex...good grief what next...

But anything in between is possible too, obviously. I do not think anyone took her with the purpose of “keeping” her...feels like a sexual attack followed by murder, unfortunately.

BBM New word!

No you said that's what normal 20 year old girls do, and it's not. A possibility? That's one thing, but normal activity for a 20 year old girl? Hardly. It's not "normal" activity for a 20 year old girl to date a married man or go out on a couple of dates when she's in a committed relationship. I strongly disagree with that sentiment. Strongly.
No I did not say it was normal activity for a 20 year old girl. I said “it’s a possibility that a normal 20 year old girl might...”

It seems that you are assuming that her phone was active until she stopped moving, but that isn't necessarily how it works.

Imagine, for a moment, an abductor who understands the basic technology of a Fitbit and cellphone, and that they have to be in close range of each other for the Fitbit signal to be sent via wifi to a remote device. If the abductor disabled Mollie's phone or Fitbit at the moment she is abducted, that would provide a clear location to police regarding where she was abducted. The smart thing to do is to leave the Fitbit and phone active and in close proximity to each other, and to drive to a rural location, such as Guernsey, to un-sync or disable the devices.

The result is that police will spend days searching the Guernsey area. This is what the abductor wants police to do - to waste time and resources looking for Mollie in the wrong place. Mollie could very well be alive after leaving the Guernsey area regardless of the last signal from her Fitbit and/or cell phone. Intensive searches in Guernsey may be a complete waste of time.

All text messages are saved... They are saved at the Switch level and there are copies of every message sent, no matter the carrier. They require a supeana to get copies, but they are often obtained for divorce court and criminal cases. This is why people get "burner" phones and air gapped laptops... There are ways to limit your digital footprint or throw people off...

Same here. Candy. Taught to be polite to the bitter end, I said "No thank you" and kept walking. I'm glad you're still here. Lots of posts & exp. like ours here on WS the past few days.

Add me to the list. I was about 9 or 10. I was walking to a friend’s house after a big snowfall. I would have crossed the golf course, but the snow was too deep. So I walked on a path along a major road (divided with island in the middle). Normally a busy road, but due to weather, it was definitely less traveled on this day. A blue conversion van pulled up along side me. The driver stopped, and one of the passengers (I *think* there was more than one) slid the door opened beckoning me to get in and offering a ride. I will never forget that moment as long as I live. I don’t think I was polite at all. I think I shook my head and immediately changed directions walking away from road into a field. I’m so thankful that they shut the door and drove on. It was a long time ago, so I can’t remember too clearly, but I suspect had they forced me into the van, there wouldn’t have been any witnesses. (Limited visibility due to curve and steep hill in road). Plus, the roads conditions were bad, so any possible witnesses would be focused on the road.

Secondly, Mollie is not a resident of Brooklyn. Her family lives in a larger town close by. There are probably plenty of people in her hometown who knew she was spending the summer in Brooklyn with her boyfriend. Plenty of potential suspects there.

Well this is confusing. Is her mother's house not in a part of Brooklyn?

They used infrared cameras to search, but I suppose they could have missed something, but I would think from the air it would be pretty extensive, and they would cover alot of ground. Even if a shallow grave the body would still generate heat.

You can put a cell phone or fitbit in a metallic chip bag and it won't work... Wrap it in aluminum foil and it's secure until you unwrap it.

I fared detects heat.... A body would be the same temperature as the surface it was on...

I think it has something to do with a number of people on this thread finding lateott’s theory fairly
compelling. You will have to look it up on the thread and do some digging to know what it is. And further digging to know why it might have legs. Of course, it could be wrong. Sorry to be cryptic, I don’t want to get the thread shut down.
LE never names suspects anymore...too much legal danger if the person turns out not to be guilty, danger of vigilante justice, etc... <respectfully snipped>
I do not think anyone took her with the purpose of “keeping” her...feels like a sexual attack followed by murder, unfortunately.

Agree. I really believe, and am hopeful, that they do have an "unnamed" POI. I'm stumped on the motive but leaning more toward accidental/crime of passion with possibly more than one person involved. One of those people being very close to her and the other somehow being linked to near the pig farm. If it isn't that, then a sexual motive would be next. MOO.
