It's 98% moot

Not quite. Here's a presentation from Google engineers on how they improved location accuracy for Android:
How to achieve 1-meter accuracy in Android

Wi-Fi Round-Trip Time
Wi-Fi RTT ranging and indoor position estimation is based on making measurements of the time of flight of RF signals, and can be used to estimate your indoor position to an accuracy of one to two meters.

That's indoors, but as far as we know we still don't know exactly where Mollie went missing. If the data was available and she was home, we might be able to pinpoint the exact room with this data.

My initial reaction was that he was not credible, but after viewing the interview with him, and the fact that he didn't inject himself into the investigation but rather noticed a couple of days later that he hadn't seen the regular jogger, I believe him. I think he did see Mollie jogging along his road, although we don't know 100% whether it was on July 18 based on his description of what she was wearing.
Oh, yes, the description of clothing that doesn't match too. I knew there was something else that made him unreliable in my mind. I'm sure he has seen Mollie before, just not sure about his memory being spot on.

Ok, realize that, just thought you might be basing it on new fit bit info
Nope, just my thoughts after being here too much and trying to connect the dots. It would be great to get just a hint of that info though!

I tend to believe him. He said he came forward when he learned on the news that someone was missing. I have had things happen two streets down that I didn’t know until I read news weeks later. Why? 1.) I’m at work most of the day. 2.) I don’t watch news when I come home as I am busy with my life. 3.) I don’t seek out conversations with my neighbors because I am busy. But if someone at work said “did you hear about that missing girl” I would watch or read the news and realize maybe that is the person I saw. Now if he said he saw her abducted by aliens while jogging I would totally discount his sighting.

He seemed quite unsettled with knowing that the girl who often jogged down his street was all over the news as a missing person. Although he mentioned something like black 3/4 length yoga pants rather than shorts, that's a minor detail that seems irrelevant. It's quite possible that she sometimes jogged in shorts and other times in yoga pants.

My theory: Mollie leaves home around 7:30 p.m. for her jog with her fitbit, cellphone and wearing her jogging clothes. She heads east on Des Moines Street and makes turn to the south on West Pershing. She continues on to Clay Street where she turns south. At the time she makes it to the car wash at the corner of Clay and 2nd Street the perp has already came into town, passed the truck stop where he is captured on camera and is atop the railroad bridge on Clay Street where he sees Mollie make the turn on to 2nd street, passing the camera at the car wash. He knows the area and can see her jogging down 2nd and knows that 2nd Street ends at a cornfield and also has streets that run parallel. He sees her make the turn on to Mills Street and takes the first parallel street before Mills, which is Williams. He can see her across the park approaching the intersection of Pleasant and Mills. He even has time to wait at the park as she approaches. When she approaches he pulls in front of her and grabs her and heads down Pleasant heading west to Boundary Street. He turns north on Boundary Street and makes the turn to 385 heading east. He knocks her out near the corner of 385 and V21 and that is where the fitbit registers no movement or increased heartbeat. He takes her south on V21 and disposes of her and/or the cellphone around route 85. Perp either leaves area or goes back to Brooklyn a couple hours later and enters town the same way, passing the truck stop and maybe stopping to wash his car of all the dust on the way back in to town or stops at Casey's for a drink. This theory accounts for every red spot on the FBI map. I take the eyewitness testimony with a grain of salt. I posted the possible jogging routes below and of course, my theory has slight variations.

On part of the second route you gave as an example is a Tier 3 sex offender nearby (convicted of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse) and who also has mutual friends with the Tibbetts. How thoroughly do the police question these felons? I'd imagine he was grilled, but I know some of them fantasize about this stuff over and over again for ages, thinking of every way to carry these activities out and still evade detection.

How are doing, SharonNeedles? Take good care of you and yours. So very grateful to you being a sleuther here with us and sharing all you see and know of the area. You've been of epic help.

I imagine the sense of awareness is pretty intense around the hotspots.
Thank you! I’ve been incredibly busy with my family, not keeping up as well as I should. I haven’t been back to the highlighted areas, but the sense of awareness really has cranked up a couple notches all over the area. College kids are returning to UI now and everybody seems super cautious. I even found myself just walking up to a stranger in a van parked down the street from my house - he wasn’t going anywhere until I knew who he was and why he was here. Totally innocent, but I sure felt better after talking to him.

Where is everyone seeing that RT is going back to Cali...I haven't seen this in MSM...

I have to admit I was outside today pulling weeds and my neighbor came home and said hi to me as he was walking in his house. I’m sure he had shorts on and a shirt but couldn’t for the life of me tell you what color they were. If someone asked I would guess tan shorts and a blue shirt. MAybe he wears that a lot idk. It wasn’t a significant moment UNTIL he would end up missing.

Ah yes, nonetheless, to me he reads as a bit unreliable.

I've never been sold on his sighting. He said she frequently ran by his house, since it was a couple of days before he reported seeing her who's to say it was actually the same night or earlier in the week?

In my experience there are always extra staff/volunteers for a trip like this, I can't imagine one person assigned to a small group, it is usually one adult per every 3 or 4 kids, at least.

My cousin is Mollies age and worked the same general kinda job this summer and she said the kid/staff ratio was 15:1! I couldn't believe it.

I don't know off hand what ages she was working with (I know it was like elementary age though) or what ages Mollie was working with, which might make a difference at least to a degree.

Where are you getting the information from the fitbit data showed INCREASED heartrate?? This is the first I have heard of any data info. being released.
there isn't anything like that he is clearly summarizing.
And whoever thought I was so crazy with predatory animals there have been quite a few bears sightings iowa,as well as wolves and mountain lions

Yes! I did notice that as well and didn't put it in my theory. I meant to. I didn't realize he had mutual friends with the Tibbetts. Interesting. Do you happen to have a quote on that or something you can share in a PM?

The phone has to be turned on in order to ping cell phone towers. The way investigators tell sort of where the person is, is when the cell tower signal is stronger for tower 2, then it switches from tower 1.

That way, you can draw straight lines in between the cell towers crossing perpendicular on both sides as to at least find out a line where they passed.

GPS on watch (and on fitbit possibly) will pinpoint exact location within 15 feet.
So we can assume that whenever the cell phone was turned off and there was no more data, that might be the exact time the incident occurred, IF she was taken against her will?

I take walks every day. I also see my neighbors walking every day. Yet I'd be hard pressed to tell you exactly what they were wearing on any given day. Maybe it's me, but generally clothes don't make that much of an impression, unless it is something out of the ordinary. It's possible he remembered seeing her regularly but remembering what outfit she was wearing after the fact is another matter.

Trust your gut.

She didn't - she never made it home from the run. Every piece of info collected so far plus the places and timeframe LE asked for help within validates this. The homework deal was early on in the investigation and comes third hand from a neighbor who LE questioned and suggested it may have happened. That was MT's second night in the house so LE could've been referring to her doing homework on the night before. Again, we're hearing this third hand filtered through a media source.

The specific timeframe LE is asking for help with on the Finding Mollie website is between 5-10 PM on 07/18. Right after 5 PM is when she was dropped off at the house by her brother and 10 PM is around the time that DJ opened the Snapchat she sent him - not necessarily when it was sent. If she started a run at 7:30 PM and went for even say an hour and made it back home and LE wants info about anyone who was at a truck stop near the next town over before 10 PM, there is no way she made it back home and was taken after that. There's no way she could've gotten in the area of the truck stop by 10 PM.

Her being taken on the jog is the solution that requires the least amount of mental gymnastics and leaps. Thus, IMO it's the correct one.

I actually only watched one interview with him, but yes, something not quite right with his memory from what I saw. But I will watch it again and see if there's something I could be mistaken about.

I totally believe him. He doesn’t know Mollie and had no particular reason to remember details about somebody he regulary sees jogging on his street.

They’re going to look very closely at nearby sex offenders. And you’re right, these guys are never cured.

If LE can see which networks were available, that would tell them a lot.
drive down the road and watch a phone or tablet, networks will show up, to anyone. knowing whose data to look into is another issue though. moo
