But would they have enough to arrest/accuse him?

They start with asking questions - perfectly good questions that should have perfectly good answers.

Thank you for posting that. I have long thought that she was taken by someone she knew, but this would suggest leaving the Brooklyn area so now I don't know what I think.

Would also suggest that it isn't a traveler or long-haul trucker, because he balked at the interstate and continued south towards a fairly rural and remote area.

What do you think that particular right-bottom red dot represents?
A message to the "taker" that we know who you are and all about you ?

  • #284
I guess they searched that area several times and don't need any tips from the public.

The dots on the map are significant in relation to Mollie's disappearance, and police are asking for tips about those areas. They are not asking for tips about places that have been searched or that are not on the map.
I believe LE has reasons for the dots at certain locations, and reasons for no dots at others. It's specific to their needs and interests.

What do you think that particular right-bottom red dot represents?
A digital signal in or around those abandoned buildings.jmo

This is so confusing...One minute her Mom says she didn't make it home and now a neighbour says they were told she did.

Keep in mind this was very, very early in the investigation. Personally I would take the early information with a grain of salt. They were talking before they forensically examined her laptop, reviewed data subpoenaed from social media and other providers, interviewed 300+ witnesses. I'm sure LE wished the neighbors didn't talk to the media, and likely asked everyone interviewed to not discuss the substance of the interviews too.

I don't think I would go that far. The only thing we can estimate about the bottom right dot is that it is where police said there was a ping, and it is in the vicinity of several farm searches.

How far from that area (5) is the Big Bear area, or the area where the creeks or rivers are where they were searching?

I see that you edited your post with the number 5 circle instead of circle 4. So not sure which one you wanted to ask about but, Big Bear Creek is north of circle 4, just south of HWY 6. And circle 5 is quite a bit south of that area near Guernsey/Deep River.

Interesting! Searches so far have only been in point 5 area, but something of interest happened at point 4 as well.

DCI has questioned homeowners behind the D&M Car Wash ("point 3"):

bbm
Investigators are also focusing on the D&M car wash, which sits at the foot of a residential area.

Neighbors said they think investigators have highlighted the business, in part, because of its surveillance cameras -- among the few in town.

There was a DCI team canvassing homes behind it on Wednesday.

It wouldn't make sense for LE to focus on the car wash unless something led them there, whether it was MT phone location data, something seen on video recordings obtained from the D&M, or both.

I'm convinced there is something of interest seen on that video and I don't believe it's MT... because I believe the cameras would be aimed at points of interest to the business owner, such as the pay station, the entrances/exits and broader lot. The structure is set back from the streets and opposite sidewalks so I can't imagine much foot traffic is captured.

That leaves vehicles and their operators (and passengers) who use the establishment. What of them has raised LE's interest?

The English river runs through areas very near dot 5.

North of the car wash?

Why would Mollie be at the car wash?

I agree. I saw a couple of videos of Brooklyn. Of those, I make have seen two or three vehicles. Not much traffic. Hard to believe nothing was seen out of the ordinary. Maybe there is something to the "Black SUV sighting" or has that been discounted.

The "black SUV" is off-limits for discussion... not related, there's no there, there.

I am way behind, and catching up. A few threads back, Meem (sorry unable to load) posted that he/she read about a Creep, holding a woman hostage in a Container, out in the bush, on his property. I also read about this.
The woman was chained, raped repeatedly for days.
The Creep had murdered her boyfriend and buried him.
Several other bodies were also located.

I would think, all Vans, Containers, Sheds in the bush, near the fitbit's last signals, have been investigated.
Todd Kohlhemp, or whatever his name is? Pretty sure it's not The Creep

Another observation I will make about small country towns, as someone who grew up in 1 and who lives in a different 1 to this day...

Some kids I went to school with were related to dozens of people in our town. And sometimes, those relatives included tow truck drivers, salvage yard owners, farmers, police officers and firemen.

I am aware of 2 individual cases where a local kid made a mistake (both involving drunk driving accidents) and local officials took pity on them, believed it would do them no good to suffer further consequences for their wrong doing, and essentially looked the other way.

I believe many in the town would feel this kind of small town loyalty to Mollie, which is a huge plus. It might be what drives someone to turn in the right tip. But it’s possible that if she was unintentionally hurt by or in the company of another local kid, who panicked and called their parent to say they thought she was dead, the parent or relative might have been willing to help them take care of it, believing it was a true error and their child didn’t believe to be locked up or have their life destroyed.

And yes, this is exactly how things work . . . On the other hand, I'm not sure everyone would stand up to this kind of national scrutiny, but might 'fess up before allowing it to get to this point. But I can't be sure. Once started down a certain path, it's difficult to turn around.

I just ran across this thread with one random post about Mollie and thought it should be linked here instead of just floating alone on the forum. :)

Mollie

I don’t know...I talk to my mom and/or dad for hours. Literally hours on end. My dad and I can go on and on about everything from politics, to things I need worked on on my house, real estate, travel, my kids, his health...you name it. He lives across the US from me and we speak every couple weeks just him and I. And once a week a FaceTime. I’m 39 and this has happened for decades. I don’t find it weird at all...

The English river runs through areas very near dot 5.

I initially thought SW of Brooklyn, but now I'm curious about NW of Brooklyn.
Here's the map to English River

What do you think that particular right-bottom red dot represents?

That dot represents other farms LE has searched that does not include the hog farm ("WC").

Investigators focus on 5 areas in search for Mollie Tibbetts
One is east out of town marked by rolling hills, and another can be reached by driving south past the interstate and an intersection marked with abandoned buildings and cornfields. Investigators said it is not related to the hog farm they searched weeks ago.

I don't think she would go out after dark. she would call her brother and ask.him.to pick.her up

Maybe this one night she decided to chance it and do a quick run over to her mom's in the dark; after all it's the neighborhood she grew up in. Bad time, wrong place, not a good decision.

Or, maybe, at the time that particular LEO spoke to MT's mom, they did not fully understand how SC worked, thinking that if DJ opened it around 9:45, it was sent at the same time, and MT was actually taken before 9 p.m. during her run.

But, SC should be able to tell LE exactly when MT sent her last SC, even if the picture can't be recovered without her phone being in LE's possession (it's a new hack that can recover SC pics from a phone's memory, even after they "go away").

At this point I know either. I'm so confused!

Sure. Point 5 very likely represents a ping from Mollie. It just happens to also be in the vicinity of Guernsey, where several farms were searched.
