I believe some buy them as well. JMO

Or they use their children's SSN's.
I worked in collections where this happened. There was a lot of fraud.

I think the majority of us learn something from every case, but do we really need pages of posts saying "I was right!"? Tuck that information into your brain for future cases.
Have not seen pages and pages, and even if so, not here to gatekeep others' contributions.

I also think he hit her with his car, but not by accident. I think he saw her, ran her down....then took her, raped her, and dumped her in the corn.

Just my thoughts.

Agreed. IF he hit her with the car, it was to incapacitate her, not a moving violation. JMO

If Mollie had posts that were set to friends of friends she may have mentioned being alone and he would have seen those.

Definitely a good thing to remember not to update your life in real-time.

But I don't think this necessarily applies to Mollie. She wasn't attacked at the house, she was attacked on her regular jogging route even when she's not alone at home.

Some women will create two facebooks. CR’s ex girlfriend may have done this and blocked him from the real one. He may have harassed her, etc. I am sure men do this too. Usually one is more public and the other personal. JMO

Someone posted early on that folks who lived in particular locations preferred to go to Montezuma rather than Brooklyn. Maybe this was the case for this guy? And after 4 years he would have had a personal reason to pay close heed to how LE worked in the area, wouldn't he?
Agreed and I believe it was said in the PC that he kept to himself. Not a quote just what I remember. And for good reasons IMO.

So based on where the actual assault/abduction happened which per LE was on the 1900 block of 385th Avenue, was that MT's route of finishing her jog at her mom's house and thus picking up the car?

If you look at the case map of locations, yes 385th takes you out past the denser neighborhoods where houses are more sparse. However had she been heading to LC's, she would have turned left on 185th ran up to Highway 6 and turned left again and made her way back to Brooklyn proper. It would've just been 1-2 miles back down Hwy 6 towards Bear Drive where her mom's home was. Then she'd eat dinner with them and take the car for the following morning.

I say this because if she wasn't on her way back to LC's via something close to that route, 385th doesn't have a turn that takes you back towards Brooklyn for a long while. I suppose she could have just stopped and done an about face but going on a continuous route makes more sense. Had she kept going, it would have had Mollie jogging after dark which is something friends/fam said she rarely, if ever did.

If that is the case, even more heartbreaking because her jog was like 80% finished and she was probably less than 20 minutes from LC's house.

We found out she isn't an ex, though.

Is that his real name? We will never know for sure. The name combinations (they use two last names including the mother's maiden name) vary widely. None of their documents follow formats.
I have seen many social security cards that have been bought on the street in the US. They have real numbers of American citizens and the fraudulent name on them. So if the number is run through a computer they come back valid. Employers have no way of knowing they are fake. Many, many fake documents are available out there including driver licenses, passports..etc.

I have read these two sentences several times and get a very unsettling feeling about it. To me, it sounds like he checked his phone 'after' this happened and went back to where he left her body. Why?...to see if she was still there or maybe for another reason (which I won't spell out).

The Defendant was able to use his phone to determine the route he traveled from Brooklyn.

'Rivera then later guided law enforcement to her location from memory,' the affidavit continues.

Could he have used a gps app and it saved the route and LE found it BUT they wanted to make it clear he didn't have to use his app and remembered just fine how to get to Mollie! (one of several holes punched in the "blackout" defense he is floating?

I don’t buy for a second that he came all the way to bumfu@K Iowa to live a proper life.
You can do THAT anywhere.

Qutos, you had posted this earlier, but I couldn’t reply then because the thread was not open. “If you look at the map of the area where he was seen following her (Middle and Boundary Streets), 385 where her body was found is is just off to the right. When he left her, he may have headed back into the same direction and was seen on camera again after she was dead. What makes me think this is the time frame the arrest warrant shows 7:45 to 8:28. 8:28 is a precise number, so something gives them that time.
I imagine they also have his cellphone pings that put him in the area. They probably confronted him with so much digital evidence against him that he knew they had him.”
This may have been answered already & I apologize if so.
Wouldn’t Mollie’s FitBit have tracked her heart rate? I hate even writing this...but wouldn’t that pinpoint when her heart stopped beating? MOO

Her body was found SE of Guernsey.

Her fitbit may have indicated that her heart stopped at 1900 385 Ave.

WS rules specify we need to provide a link when stating something as fact.

But back to my question. Is your theory he was afraid ICE was going to be called so he murdered her?
I can see someone who is afraid of deportation lashing out in desperation, especially if they are unstable already.

Here's something that makes me scratch my head. He says he followed her, she told him she was going to call the police and he blacked out until he was sitting in his truck and somehow knew he had put her in the trunk. If that were true, then how did he have the foresight during that "block" time to disable her phone and fitbit?

When someone blacks out they're able to function as normal during the blackout period, they just have no recollection of what they did when they come out of it. He would have been capable of realizing that the phone would have to be shut off to hide it's location. Of course it's also possible that the music was still playing and he simply shut off the phone to stop it.

I don't know that I buy the blackout story, but it is possible that a fit of rage could trigger a blackout. At any rate it's not something that would get him off because he would have been aware that what he was doing was wrong at the time. Unless he tried to claim multiple personality disorder, that is.

Sorry if this was addressed before, I wasn't on here last night and am just catching up.

Morning to Mollie's tribe!

Do we know if LE impounded his car? If she had blood on her than good chance that he had blood on him too. There may have been traces in the place where we he was living.

We don't know where she actually died though, do we?
