What makes you think that Mollie chose to run East on 385 Ave? Isn't it equally possible that she was abducted at Middle and Boundary, pulled into the car, and that something else happened at 1900 385 Ave?
Perhaps he originally got her inside the car earlier and she escaped at some point on 385 east only to have him chase her down a second time? Maybe she was running in the direction of the nearest house the second time?

I bet CR never thought in a million years that Mollie going missing would go viral across the world. I wonder if he cracked because he knew it was so heavily covered by the FBI that he could run, but not hide?

He had a month, he could have gone back to Mexico. He didn't think they would find him because. as we know, sociopaths think they are smarter than everyone else.

Is that his real name? We will never know for sure. The name combinations (they use two last names including the mother's maiden name) vary widely. None of their documents follow formats.
I have seen many social security cards that have been bought on the street in the US. They have real numbers of American citizens and the fraudulent name on them. So if the number is run through a computer they come back valid. Employers have no way of knowing they are fake. Many, many fake documents are available out there including driver licenses, passports..etc.
I think it may be his real name. <modsnipped sleuthing family>

Really? This is what I get for sleeping last night and skipping to the last page to chime in. I will be back after I do some reading.

Article was in the Daily Mail. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll try another device to link.

Umm folks, it doesn't matter if you posted what may have happened. It doesn't matter if you were 'right'...

Wait, you mean Tricia doesn't keep track of our guesses and their correctitude for the Web Sleuths ASL (Armchair Sleuthing League)?

I was ready to chalk up Mollie to another case of spontaneous human combustion, so I'm oh-for on guesses...glad they caught the creep and found Mollie. Sounds like they could've been on it a bit sooner, but nothing was going to bring Mollie back after the first night.

Would like more info if possibly CR used SM to stalk Mollie, and raise awareness for people to be careful about their online activities. If CR was using a phony ex-gf SM presence to friend Mollie on various platforms, he--possibly as IM, his ex-gf-- could've even been her friend on fitbit and thus known exactly when she went on her runs.

I don’t buy for a second that he came all the way to bumfu@K Iowa to live a proper life.
You can do THAT anywhere.

Exactly! He chose it for a reason. And I know I sound like a broken record but that 'seasonal' job - I have never heard of a seasonal job that lasts 12 months of the year. So what ELSE was he up to? And where?

Her body was found SE of Guernsey.

Her fitbit may have indicated that her heart stopped at 1900 385 Ave.

Otto, it may sound terribly cruel, but I hope her heart stopped on 385th Ave. Remember the search at the pig farm happened on the same day LE received the data from the fitbit. My worst fear is data showed she was alive when left in the corn. :(

He’s being referred to as “migrant” and “seasonal” on the local radio stations. I don’t know how dairy farms work, not sure how milking cows could be seasonal work?

I'd listen to different stations, then. He's worked at the same place for four years, that's hardly seasonal.

I can see someone who is afraid of deportation lashing out in desperation, especially if they are unstable already.

I am sorry but I don't follow ?? If he was afraid of deportation -

1 - why commit a crime?
2 - why stay in the community where you committed a crime?

NOPE - for me he appears to be more ARROGANT than FEARFUL. The one who was afraid was MOLLIE!

To me, it looks like Mollie was jogging to her mother's house at 7:30PM, she was halfway there when she was attacked by an opportunistic murderer, she fought hard to get away and didn't succeed. She was left in the corn field later that evening and the clothing found with her body helped with identification.

I'm also perplexed about what exactly happened at Boundary and Middle Str, and at 1900 385 Ave. My guess is that CCTV is from Boundary and Middle Str., and that this is where the suspect first accosted Mollie. I'm guessing that this was her regular route for jogging to her mother's house to collect the car.

I think he stopped, not parked, the car and tried to grab her, and she tried to get away from him. I think he chased her at the abduction site. He admits that she has a head injury which might have happened at the time of abduction, and might have happened at the 1900 385 Ave. location. I find it very hard to believe that she voluntarily ran away from Brooklyn on 385 Ave.

I don't believe that she said anything about calling police. I think the suspect is attempting to blame Mollie for her murder by claiming that she threatened him with police intervention, which in his mind means expulsion to Mexico. He is essentially claiming that if she hadn't threatened to call police, none of this would have happened.

Found this interesting article

Authorities had been looking for Tibbetts about a month when they found home surveillance video that showed a car following a woman running.

Authorities said the suspect followed Tibbetts on July 18, the video recorded by a home surveillance system shows.

Mollie Tibbetts case: Man leads police to body, faces murder charge - CNN

As if it couldn't get any worse, this case has become political. His legal status isn't the reason this crime took place. Like others said, this crime should not be about him. This all seems like a bad horror movie. All these unfortunate events had to unfold in order for this crime to take place.
1) Her parents divorce caused her to move to Iowa with her mother
2) Her bf took a one off job 1-2 hours away
3) Her bf's roommates happened to be out of town. This required Mollie to come over to dog sit.
4) Mollie took a risky route, venturing into the rural part of town to where there's only 1 house every few acres. This puts the time of attack at/near sunset.
5) The attacker had to sneak into the country illegally AND of all places set up shop in rural Iowa.
6) The attacker probably would not have been so bold if he saw her sticking to the denser residential area. I don't think he initially meant to harm her. He wanted to flirt with a girl he'd seen before to see where it could lead to. He probably was hesitant to do that before in a denser area for fear of a neighbor getting the wrong idea and calling the cops on him...cat calling is common in his home country and doesn't typically invoke fear.
7) When Mollie didn't respond positively and threatened to call the police, the attacker most likely felt fear of being deported. He had a clean record. This is his trigger. I feel that an undocumented person who goes all the way to rural Iowa to make a living has a sincere desire to simply live a proper life. With one sentence Mollie threatened to take that all away from him.

Although he says he blacked out, usually when a criminal says they blacked out they eventually admit the whole truth, but they're scared/ashamed to go into detail at that moment. LE was probably more concerned with locating the body than extracting as much criminal detail from his as possible. I think the crime unfolded pretty much as the attacker described. I don't think he raped her. I think he panicked and beat her. He might've used a weapon or slammed her against the ground. When he realized she was dead, he put her in the trunk. I don't think he raped her after he realized she was dead. In his mind he probably did sort of blacked out, but he knows the details and they'll figure it all out through the autopsy.
If he killed her because he thought if she called the cops he would get deported, that makes his illegal status a factor in this case - one of many.

A couple of sleuthers early on - don't recall their names - advocated she was possibly hit by a car while jogging and then abducted by the driver that hit her. Whoever that was, you were closer to being right than anyone else.

I can hardly claim to have read every post in every thread, but based on what I have seen, the only ones who really got it right were the ones who said it was an alien abduction.

Just two things:

We need to remember he's had 5 weeks to think about 'a story' for the 'when I get caught; what will I say to LE'. He's probably thought about 'the story' every single day for the last 5 weeks; that might explain why he has been co-operative with LE and his general calmness; I wonder if he has researched 'blacking out'.
Do 'Rage Blackouts' Actually Exist?

The other is; some of the guys here have plotted on maps Mollies running route; even if there were 6 / 7 routes all LE had to do was visit the houses (it's not as if there were 1000's of houses) on those routes to ask for CCTV.

Wow.

I was wondering what role the fitbit could have played, since LE said it played a part in solving the crime.

This is sad if it turns out to be true. I didn't even think about stuff like that. :(

We really don't know. We have the five points of interest, and we know that one of those points of interest is close to 1900 385 Ave (which is mentioned in the warrant).

These updated maps are the best I can figure out at this time. I don't understand the meaning of 1900 385Ave if the video footage of the suspect chasing and attempting to abduct Mollie is at Boundary/Middle. With all the directions that she could run, why would she run along a road out of Brooklyn?

EXACTLY! Tells me he worked there P/T and ??? during the rest of the year? I believe there is more here about his movements and how he become obsesses with Mollie may become clearer once those details are brought to light. IMO of course.

Cows only come "fresh" or have milk after they calve. I don't know that dairy farming is seasonal either. I just grew up with a father who had grown up on a farm.

I know a dairy farmer and they work 365 days a year. Cows have to be fed and kept clean because of the milk. I remember her telling me the inspectors came and it was winter so they were mostly inside and the cows tails were dirty so the inspector wrote them up. She said never again did that happen so all winter she washes their tails and don't forget they poop and pee all over when kept inside and that all has to be cleaned daily. I know they could never go away because where they are located was very rural and they had a hard time finding responsible people to do it. It is a massive amount of work,,,,365 days a year.

I am a licensed healthcare provider in two states and if you come in our office complaining of these type of blackouts, you will be sent for MRIs, CTs, PET scans, blood work up. We would recommend that you not drive and we would probably refer you to a therapist and Psychiatrist if this seems to occur during fits of rage. Where I am going with this is: These are occurring when it is convenient to CR. They are not occurring randomly when he is at work, driving home from work, pumping gas at the gas station. I am not buying them, but anything is possible.

Here's my question before I eat my brunch! - How else is LE suppose to have solved this crime? I know it is concerned that the only reason Cristian was caught is because of the cameras and he was not even looked at before. But realistically what is LE supposed to do without blowing their entire budget/resources in one month? This is me genuinely asking, because I don't know, maybe there is a real answer. But they are in a place with barely any people, barely any cameras, tons and tons of places for people to be all alone, to hide, etc. Just wondering.
